Here is an interesting one I found that is apparently Golden Demon? I am not sure if they mean Golden Demon standard or a winner or what...
I mean it's well painted, but I don't feel as if it is Golden Demon standard, nor is it worth $70 per model, or 8 times the RRP of the squad.

Not to mention he didn't even fix all the Finecast issues (so much is bent awfully).
Most likely he once gazed upon a Golden Demon in White Dwarf and so is now an expert Golden Demon painter.

I guess you have to differentiate from all the "pro painted" pieces out there.
And those look like Warmachine bases. The basing is hideous.

I've often wondered - just what is the point of this thread?
The whole things seems to be in rather bad taste and potentially against some of the actual rules of this site.
Some of the things that get pointed out in here are probably from people just trying to make a quick buck, but some of the things in here might actually represent someone's best effort, and now they're being mocked on this site?
The thread in general seems to do quite a few of the things we usually don't stand for here on the site - 'attacking' people who in all likelihood aren't here to defend themselves, making fun of people's painting 'efforts', etc.
It all seems rather mean-spirited and, ultimately, pointless.
So, what am I missing?

I can agree the tones a little mean, but the content seems to be more sharing the things you'd see on ebay any time yourself for a chuckle, much like the GW Fulchester thread kroothawk maintains? Bit of i guess mostly good natured ribbing?

Thing is, we would never allow the kind of comments in here to happen in P&M for example... it's tricky to decide for me. eBay is pretty famous for everything, no matter what level, being labelled pro-painted, and at times I personally find that both offensive and amusing depending on my mood lol... I can't say I'm mystified where most of the comments are coming from.
BUT, if that is all there is to this thread I am not sure we really need it either... it is basically a thread to mock things, and that is not really accepted here, for a plethora of reasons... EVEN if things are eminently mockable. It's one of those times where in real life I would laugh along, but at Dakka I think we need to think twice...
I dunno I think Alpharius' question was an honest one, is there a redeeming activity happening here too? It would help us decide if this thread has run it's course or not, and your help would be appreciated.

This thread has been mostly clear of the extreme bashing and/or hating on people that aren't here that plague some threads.
Mostly it's people sharing interesting or baffling Ebay links for everyone's viewing pleasure.
"Mostly harmless." is what I call it.
