How do you feel about Ruzz bots? I ran across them after seeing this: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101101072723/warhammer40k/images/e/e0/Ork_Gargants.gif
And after looking at the 4th ed. Ork codex, I realized that they have absolutely every option for a Looted Wagon to make a Ruzz Bot street rules legal (with Grabbin Klaw and Wreckin Ball, to name a few).

I think you got the skills, and it looks like you've made half of one several times already

You're tempting me... a lot

Maybe one day I'll build one, It sounds really cool and in line with my army (plus It will be such a great converting project that I can't refuse )

Done, I'll make one and welcome to "Da Krazy Pak" Johnnyhorse

Edit: Little thought.

I noticed that I'm subscribed only to P&M blogs mostly, probably because is the part of the hobby that I'm in the possibility to do or that I love the most.
After a saturday night of hard work and a couple of fresh beers with the coworkers I came home and started to post on dakka (like I do every night )
There is my name as last poster in a lot of thread now and here is my thought:

How is possible for a big community as this one to not post in the P&M section more than any other in the forum?
This is the core of It all for me, this is where with the community You share your ideas, suggestion, compliments. etc.
It's the section that makes a community that loves something (It can be everything, from wargames to fly fishing).
Sharing is caring... at leat for me

Enjoy the sunday Dakkadakka, I'll work

If you go by Message Totals in the forum list it appears that the "P&M Blogs" are quite nearly at the top. Almost exactly equal to the "general Painting and Modelling" and just under "40k General Discussion".

I'm willing to bet people are just scared to jump into threads that are, for the most part, personal. There's a lot of back and forth between hobbyists, and maybe other gamers feel either excluded, or unable to contribute? I don't know -- I'm only just recently really jumping into the community. All I have to say is that hobbyists love to hear from everyone, even if you just want to say "cool".

PS. Thank you for the welcome! I have no idea what entails membership into Da Krazy Pak, but I'll run with it

I see your point on the "hobby people" and the personal approach.
It was just a thing that came to my attention here on dakka tonight, nothing bothering me at all, but just a kind of question for people that visit this thread
I think that if my work and place would permit me to play i would visit other section of the forum as well, but at the same time the P&M section would be my main focus.

Da Krazy Pak is a big family, if You're part of It You just are part of It, that's the pro

I think for most of us, collecting is as much a par tof the hobby as gaming. And since tournaments usually require painted armies, everyine is required to paint . Of all the guys (and gals) who play this game, I only knwo of a few that don't paint or only the required 3-colour minimum. There are quite a few of us who are just modellers however, an don't care about gaming. Hence, p&m logs will have the most candidates I think. Not to mention that it's a great motivator to have people replying and sharing their thoughts on something YOU created. I know I'm more motivated to model/paint when getting lots of replies in my thread, and I assume ut helps for a lot of us. I've also written batreps, and the 'return' when counted in replies is just less when compared to the time you put into it. So, p&m wins out - again

I had a similar conversation on my blog a while back (more to do with lurking, but...).
I think (as someone who has 92% of my posts in P&M) that for every 1 person here on DDakka that is a modeller primarily, there's another who is primarily a gamer and another who mostly cares about the stories and background.
DDakka gives somewhere for each of these people AND for the many other who are in the grey area between these extremes.

Also, within the P&M blogs, there can be a lot of lurking for many reasons (some people may just like looking at the pretties, some may be intimidated by a blog full of awesome and not feel that they are worthy of contributing) and this doesn't raise the post count. Whereas in the rules threads, the people that frequent those are more likely to have an opinion on what is being discussed and you get many posts (seemingly going backwards and forwards) that can make it appear more popular than it really is in relation to P&M...for example.

But I have found that most of the P&M blog owners are very welcoming of anyone's opinions and ideas and I'm trying to lurk less, but I only really post if I have something to say (it can feel a little odd being the 20th person to say "cool", it's been said, I'll wait until I have a contribution...).

Sharing ideas and techniques is where it's at. I've learnt a lot from DDakka to help my modelling and I hope, in turn, I've given something back.

So, keep doing what you're doing, I am watching and I'll say something when I have something to contribute.

You know guys, I probably don't understand how is the gaming community outside Dakkadakka (just because, as I said, I don't have the possibility to join It )
Your comments and consideration CK and Dr. H are more than welcome and I'll use them when something else on this subject will jump at my attention

(CK: I wrote that yesterday night after work and a couple of pints of Chouffe Beer , You know what that means? )

Anyway, Some other asked to see how the Big Mek is going and You shall get It

I'm planning to do the extremity of the KFF and the chain in the middle of the two electric blue, almost white and I have a question for You:

OSL or not OSL from that?
Suggestions, comments and critiques are always welcome

DDakka is my only link to modellers as well. I know no-one IRL who is even remotely interested in modelling, let alone little toy soldiers...from far in the future...fighting aliens and robots and daemons...

OSL or not OSL from that?

He's looking good so far.
It is a good opportunity to do OSL. Depends on how confident you are of doing it...

Personally I fall into the modeller aspect of the gaming world, never been a player (or not since I was a small child ) so my interest aims towards the threads of painting and modelling and model production.

I have of late been drawn into the fluff aspects, although more for an insight to backgrounds and technologies this way giving better scope for converting and paint schemes.

However I also find that gaming rules can restrict imagination and creativity, this is why I have a lack of interest in this side of the game also the constant complaints towards unbalanced rules.

I have also dropped into a few general discussion threads and have found it can be awkward and hostile at times with responses, I tend to steer from these now as it can ruin the Dakka experience.

I also find the personal threads inspiring and helpful, along with this I find mostly a great community of liked minded individuals sharing ideas and humour.

Now to the Mek great work so far love the apron, great work on the orange once again the scratches look great.

Another thing to consider Selv, is that one provocative comment in one of the other sections of dakka can generate 10 pages worth of argumentative posts overnight. How hard do you have to work to generate 10 pages of posts??

I think that has a lot to do with it too.

Yeah, good points.
I always try and learn as much about the background of the model's race/species and their technology before I start building for this exact reason.
And yeah, I don't worry about making a legal model as far as the game rules go...

I hate it when your on thread and someone has put their heart and soul into creating a master piece, only for someone to say " thats not game legal "

I know they are only voicing a true opinion but it does wind me up, I have created loads of none legal models (yes hard to believe I know ) and could not care less if it was or not game legal.

But I guess it is where your interest lies.

There is always new things to learn about the people that post, even if It's a bit difficult to do It on a forum, without the voices and expressions to give You the mood of the person that is writing.

Hope You enjoy (I am for sure, I'm putting my best effort in this )

At the end I decided to skip the OSL because I wanted to give the KFF a sense of waves of electricity passing trough.

That mek is looking sweet. As for me on DDakka is only place where i can see other models that not created to the instructions, have free range of motion and paint.

The good painters in my click - stick to a book scheme, and dont convert heavily.
The good modelers who convert - never paint
The gamers - never paint, never convert.
I sadly am torn into many different aspects of this hobby, which limits my skills in the end.
I love to paint, but most of my army is grey or black.
I love to model, but my conversions are not as far out there as they could be.
I love to game, don't get to often, but once a week isn't bad.

Yellowbeard, I wanted to try OSL, but changing my mind and going on the pulsing electricity I'm not going to do It. The light would come from so many places that It would be a bluish/white miniature at the end.

LDD: the skin has to be washed again.
If You need I can tell exactly how I did the effect on the KFF.
For the googles I was thinking a light purple grey color....

Here for You the founder of "Da Krazy Pak".

Big Mek Bark'n'Laud is called in this manner for the very high noise He does while working.
He was the former Warboss of da Klan, before Mohyz killed the dreadnought of the Space Wolfs.
He's the creator of beautiful killing machines, like Da Toll One or Smashing Pumpkan, the one that will repair the bike of Krash and the one working on the Deff Dread at the moment... plus a couple of 'alf truks and a Battlewagon on the way.

Hope You enjoy the final product, I had a blast converting (more than a year ago now ) and paint him.
