About 150 pages into Fear to Tread atm. Im enjoying it but have noticed one or two things.
'throne' used as an epithet.
Storm eagles and Thunderhawks used throughout, no mention of stormbirds and the like.
there was another reference that didn't quite sit right with me but i cant remember what it was.
Other than that, so far so good...

I must be a giant nerd, because I'm really enjoying Fear to Tread so far.
Getting pretty close to the end, and while some of the dialogue is a bit... underwhelming, I think the descriptions and variety of places and stuff going on is pretty wild.

THE STORY
Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask... While travelling north in pursuit of hobgoblin gold, Gotrek and Felix find themselves holed up in the infamous Castle Bilenkov as guests of the curious Count Viktor. While the old man seems harmless enough, Felix soon finds himself the target of an ancient Kislevite curse, battling for his very soul against the insidious daemon Ghrizzhtadt. With Gotrek’s resistance to magic waning, the adventurers have no choice but to confront the eternal evil of the Everliving...

I don't think I can be swayed - $50 for a novella that looks to be Scars vs. Orks?
I can pass on that.
Best of luck (and please post a synopsis) to anyone who does want one though!
I guess making it open to anyone and keeping it up for sale for a week is a cheaper solution than a server upgrade?

One for the completionists no doubt! Have to be honest the White Scars aren't one of my favourites, but I could see something like this done for World Eaters or Sons of Horus being tremendously popular.
I agree about the cover art, not bad per-se, but certainly not as good as some of Neil Roberts' other work. The Khan in particular looks like he has just sniffed a turd.

so if you are a HH fan who would spend $50 bucks on a novella you had better be online every day looking for new HH books that are only available for one week. I mean to make sure everyone gets one you limit the time it is sold?

These highly costly, limited editions always annoy me. It'd be nice if they just put them out without the extra cost and hassle of "limited edition." I suppose at least this time you get a window to order and are guaranteed a copy...assuming you can afford it.

About half way through FTT and no real complaints so far. Although there was a stormeagle called 'blood's eagle', which made me sigh...

I can't say I'm a fan of that change either as a Blood Angel player. I personally liked the idea that it had to do with Sanguinius' death and the psychic imprint it left. I'll have to reserve final judgement till next week or so when I actually read the book.
So far I have finished Path of the Outcast and liked it. It wasn't IMO as good as the first two books in the series but it had a few interesting parts to it (like a tie in with a previously published eldar short story as well as describing the origins of eldar soulstones) and did wrap up the trilogy with a minimum of loose threads.

Absolutely, I would chalk it alongside one of the bits of fluff changes like 'orks come from mushrooms' that is probably disliked more than it is liked. But, what ya gonna do, and it probably won't cause as much of a fuss as "He was waiting to see who would win" (you all know what I'm talking about )
I can understand why they do it from a business perspective and why people buy them, but personally, as (pretty stingy) customer, I'm not buying the limited edition novels, which are the only HH novels (minus audiobooks) I've not brought...
Me too, Perhaps if they were a little cheaper then I might buy them, but it's a lot of money for what amounts to some fancy-ish looking paper and regurgitated artwork from other sources (most of it). I'd be interested in knowing what the mark-up is on them (actually, I'd rather not know!)

We’ve just got in the first copies of this year’s Games Day Anthology.
This collectable hardback features six exclusive stories from Dan Abnett, Rob Sanders, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Josh Reynolds, Anthony Reynolds and Matthew Farrer.
There are stories set in both the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 universes as well as an exclusive new Horus Heresy short.
Your first chance to get this book up will be Games Day UK in just under two weeks, so if you’re there, be sure to pick up a copy.
If you can’t make it to Games Day UK this year, we’ll also be taking the Anthology to Black Library events around the world over the next 12 months, so you will still get a chance grab one. There will also be a limited number available online at the end of September.
£12, and it will be mine !
Looks to me as if the Mr. Dembski-Bowden tale could well be a precursor to his Abaddon/warmaster series possibly ...?

I'm about 60 pages from finishing fear to trea and I gotta say it's been good. I think the pace in the beginning was a little tedious, bu I think the author was trying to show how long the blood angels had to deal with what was happening. If these last pages can stay consistent this will be one of my favorite books from the series. Not as good as adb, but up there.
