So on the 12th October i'm going to have my first apoc game under the new rules. To my surprise the club i go to has a shortage of power armoured heroes (previous i've had to take my staggering volume of orkish mayhem). In order to pad out my army for apoc i'm currently buying landraider off ebay left right and center... two of them have arrived and i've had time to work on them.
I buy the cheapest ones, which comes with it's inherent danger; Poor glue work and paint layed on so thick it looks like they were done with a 5" brush and house paint. I've had to finess, file, multi-strip and cajole these together.... but considering how shocking poor they were when i started i think i've done not to shoddy a job. I've also begun work on pre-heresyishing a pair of standard dreads, with mixed results thus far.
I expect to get some paint on these when the 3rd and 4th arrive, perhaps i might batch paint when i get the 5th. I've not yet decided how i'm going to split them up between the imperial fists (which i've not bought anything for yet, but is slated for october november) and the Iron Warriors (who really need some... and at some point a few FW ones).

The Lords of Destruction
Gearing up for an Apoc battle in two months time is consuming so small amount of my resources and time. At present i've put together a portion of my eventual 3k force, the aim is to bring a force capable of Totality. Since i will be allied with a variety of imperial players, i am going to allow one of them to deal with the infantry hordes as i specialized (in 5th anyhow) in armoured combat. I want to bring a lot of lascannons and high armoured hulls to the field, preferring quality over quantity.
Based on what i have to hand of the codex: marines future and my super heavy choices rules the armour is 2055pts worth of my force, leaving 995 for a health chunk of infantry and a HQ (if i don't opt to use my superheavy as a HQ)
Here's the rough list;
4 Landraiders
Landraider Terminus
Stormblade
2 Vindicators
once the codex arrived i can pick the infantry units, though terminators are likely.
And here's how we're shaping up so far;
The landraider at the back is awaiting its new fore-hull piece, a Terminus raider's hull (£12 from ebay) is in the mail. I've also bought the new baneblade kit with an eye to magnetizing most of its options and building the stormblade, as i'm not paying £105 for a single variant model when i can spent £70 inc postage on a 8 varient kit.
Next update is likely to be sunday when i anticipate the majority of will have arrived and be ready for work.

The Lords of Destruction
Good evening all, it's time for an Apoc update.
I've been toying with the armies overall disposition, and decided that i might need to drop the vindicators from the final list. Why, i hear you ask? For more terminators and Chronus of course...
I've ordered, but not received, a copy of Codex: SM of course. I haven't yet had time to work out my apoc force as a result, but something potentially bearded occurred to me. I might, possibly, be able to combine Iron Hands bonus' from Codex: SM with the apoc trait Sons of Primarch; Lords of destruction (i haven't read too closely, but i haven't build a list either yet. I'm hoping Apoc's tendancy to remove limitations means i can bring 2 Terminus ultra landraider (with a cronos in one), 3 landraiders and a bundle of termies/troops all opperating with the codex traits of the iron hands, while using lord of destruction as Warlord bonus. It's probably not going to be allowable but... It will not die and tankhunter on 5 landraiders, one being 5 lascannons at BS5 (for the sheer stopping power) will cause some serious havoc. One of my friends did the mathhammer, and in its raw state it could take down a Warhound titan every turn.
Now for the models, sadly the first Ultra and the Baneblade set which will become my stormblade haven't arrived yet, but with some spare time i've started to put down some paint.
and from the bitsbox; Chronus
i think he might work...
As always, if you've found my work of interest or have questions i've got a facebook hobby page Nerd By Design. Otherwise i'm open to comments on what i've done so far. I know they aren't pre heresy landraider as such, but given i've managed to get four for under £60 rather than one for £80 you might be able to forgive me for using the plastic kits.

Now, i'm a little hesistent to post this update since it's not going to win my greatest conversion of the year (given its just the basics at the minute) but after a day of wresting i've managed to get a nozzle piece that doesn't make me cry. Note i do have work to do on it but... here's my stormblade conversion!

Now that is awesome! Really liking the coils, what did you use for them?
I think all it needs is a little sensor on the front to add a little detail but besides that I am loving that conversion.
I am also loving your weathered Marines, excellent stuff.

The turret is looking good. Is the front going to have a domed look to it, or is it going to stay more or less flat?

thanks mate, i don't see myself messing about with it too much at the minute, i've got so many deadlines for projects i doubt i'll get time before the event. maybe in future.
Betsy, the one day warhound, build in about 5 hours, is now almost ready for the upcoming game of apoc i have. I honest expect her to die quickly, and have no intentions of her seeing the light of day again, but she'll do for the purposes.
i will not be getting job offers from forgeworld with the build quality...

If that's a one day build and your never going to go back to it......have fun. When it goes nuclear , pull it off the table and just go ape crazy hopping up and down on it, ripping it to bits . Just let he shop owner know before the game that your going to do it so he doesn't freak out and call the cops. When your done with it leave the remains close by, and continue to talk to it the rest of the game. The whole scene will drive your opponent off of his game and may bring you victory , if not find memories to tell your friends years down the line.
Just make sure your not screaming profanities or driving off the shop owners business and it should be fine.

fortunately it's in a gaming hall, not a store so everyone there is both crazy and contained...
But, Betsy has a friend, though so far i've only managed to mock up a foot.
Something big this way comes...
