Also, there's mention of "battlefoam sheets" in the last update. These are what? Actual foam protectors or future paint palettes a.k.a. advertisement leaflets?

Oh .. well, those are just plain foam sheets. But we had Battlefoam do them for us, so they are cut to size to fit the exact size of the starter set boxes The boxes are 1.5" thick, so we have 2 foam sheets sandwiching the minis. At first I was thinking of doing a mini battlefoam tray in the box with 6-8 pockets to hold your minis, but the laser cutting would have drove up the retail price too high.. was just a little higher, but enough to make it higher than I wanted.

That's something I'd like to explore later on though, maybe as a deluxe 2-player starter set some day, with trays that are the same size as a custom bag. We decided to shelf the idea for now though and wait till the game is released and then see if it's something people would want.

Are these going to be in the old mantic style packaging?

No, it's a glossy color cardstock box. We couldn't do the Mantic boxes, mostly due to the overseas shipping price to get all of the boxes we needed.. would have ended up with a retail price around $40 instead of $30. They gave us a good price on the boxes, but the shipping was nuts.

I really hate overseas shipping :(

Neat! Foam is always most welcome when it comes down to mini protection, especially when overseas shipping is involved.

The Mantic boxes sound like a good idea but I never end up useing them but can't bring myself to throw them away so they just end up taking up space that I could use to store more models.

For those who don't check there, this popped up yesterday on the KS comments page:

Sorry again his has dragged on so long. Been back and forth with the warehouse guys about what's included with this or that order, so I know they're working on it. I just asked nicely if he could give me an ETA on shipping now so hopefully I'll have some good news soon. I never thought it would have taken this long.

I think the issue with this campaign vs others is they're doing all of the fulfillment for BWG, meaning they're packing all the minis, cards, etc, in the boxes, shrink wrapping and everything, so I guess that ended up being more work than they thought. Most of their other games are just a board game that's already made so they just have to grab it off the shelf and ship it out.

Anyway, hopefully I'll hear back soon...

Sigh, I hope that was just a fluke, otherwise it is not a good sign.

My arrived Saturday as well (Chicago). I was at the one box level, and the bonus figures (Norwegian, etc.) were in a tiny plastic bag loose in the styrofoam peanuts; the dice were in another loose bag. The box contained the expected 5 figures, thin quickstart rules, and two bags of cards (presumably for the box and for the bonus figures); not shrinkwrapped.

Postage was printed on 12/26.

?? How do you mean? He got everything and I've gotten metal models shipped in packing peanits in a box before, always in fine condition?

Doesn't explain why it took so long.

Plus, the non shrink-wrapped bit is interesting, as that was one of the excuses shot at us, that they were shrink-wrapping the boxes. My guess is that the backers are a lower priority and that they are more concerned with getting the goods ready for general sale early next year.

Well.. at least I know stuff is shipping now .. ya'd think they might have told me What I was expect them to ship out was shrinkwrapped box sets just like you'd get them from the store, and then the dice & bonus figures would be loose in baggies.

after reading your post I rechecked my box. My dice and figures were in the packing peanuts as you described. Whew! My postage was also the 26th.

Yeah, also if anyone has any issues with your order like you got the wrong minis or whatever, your best bet would be to contact GameCraft directly

http://gamesalute.squarespace.com/contact/

If you just email me, all I can do is forward it to them anyway

Got my package today in the Netherlands.
Well, whatever you might have against game salute, I think the packaging is pretty decent. The box was stuffed sufficiently full of packing peanuts to make sure the dice (all 20 of them, in my case) and stretch goal models could not bounce around in the box.
On to the gang box itself: well, no shrinkwrap. /care, as far as I'm concerned everything, and I mean everything (individual models, cards for the gang, cards for the stretch minis) has it's own zip-loc bag. that's good - those are actually useful, as opposed to just a strain on the environment
The foam, well... it's BF-like density, so while it's AOK for keeping unassembled models safe, new, in the box - it's not going to be of much other use. Feth, you could just about beat someone's skull in with a block of this stuff, it's that hard - no good for storing minis. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned - it's bloody good packaging for what could just as well have been just tossed in a box half it's size!
OTOH - I can't imagine this was as cheap as just some vacformed insert with a couple of generic square compartments to drop components in like GW metal kits, for example.
Perhaps either make us pay a little more for cut foam as you mentioned earlier, or just not use foam at all? oh well, not really my problem

The minis: well, it looks okay. I don't have enough time to go over all eight extensively - I'll probably look them over somewhere next week for casting defects etc then just keep them until the KS round 2 rewards show up - not much use playing just one gang without something to shoot at now, is there?

We got ours today. Everything looks great. Minis are nice, cards are crisp and clean...and the dice...much nicer than I thought they would be. Makes me wish I had ordered some extras.

That's what worries me, they are not the most reliable of postal services, but I do hope that I'll get it on Wednesday and call it done.

We might have a few extra dice left over at the end If so we'll sell the extras to backers only, till they're gone. Won't know till everything is shipped out though, and I want to keep a handful for myself for demos

Do you happen to know when they expect to have everything shipped out?
