Ok, Well I've written up a list for my CSDAF... and here it is. Personally It's rather snazzy, and I think it can take all-comers too ^_^

Update:


Well after and afternoon of attempting to finish the Hive-Tyrant once and for all... it's safe to say its done... just waiting for it to dry and then I'll give it a dusting of varnish.

Weathering is a very difficult thing to get right... but, with patience, it can be amazing. Finally I am happy with it. but, its down to everyone here whether or not its awesome lols.

but, with light fading, the model not dry... I think tomorrow will be when you'll see photo's. Sorry lols.

But I honestly love the final result!!!

now to sit down with a bit of evening Telly, before watching Doctor Who: The Angels Take Manhattan. With the statue of liberty as a weeping angel... christ I'm never visiting that city!

by the way... did my very first real attempt at weathering... did scratches on my robotfighters for my arena... boy is that hard... slapping on paint is really something else entirely...trying to paint something that then looks like random... i have to get used to that...

and well that tardis will be something of your trademark... which is actually something really cool!

hmmm... filthy lil creep... now having a fresh look to that thing... disgusting... tho i couldn´t say what you changed... that´s up to you to say^^... one thing tho... the flock ontop of the ruined statue doesn´t feel right...

THE THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED ARE:

-All the dirt has been re done, it is now textured as well as layered multiple times, the texture includes both grit and flock for that churned up mud feel. It was also speckled using the "toothbrush" technique, in varying colours and layers to build up the feel of ongoing dirt.
-I also took off all of the old saliva, and repainted the tongue and chest claws, as well as kept the saliva to a yellow ink tone which was mixed in with the wet effect.
-The base was highlighted that little bit more to contrast further with the Tyrant.
-The wings were also dirtied to bring the over all theme together.
-Muddying of the extremities was done to bring focus onto the face and torso.

The flock was placed there on the statue as when you view where plantlife grows on and around a city, you notice it grows in the strangest of places.

thanks for explaining that... was something of a puzzler to me as to why you had these done in brown... i was very unsure as to why , beacuse i thought the scheme as such was more greenish... that is now solved for me^^

the wing's were painted in the following way:

Xerus Purple > Graveyard Earth > Bleached Bone.

each layer was done while the previous one was wet, all the time streaking lines across the shape and curve of the model and following the shapes already there.

Wet-blending is fun to do, but painstakingly difficult to get right unfortunately... I had to redo a couple of the panels a few times when doing them.


the dirt was done in pretty much the same way as the rest of the model, minus the grit and flock. I used the following:

before painting, I used weathering pigments from FW, the colours used were Dry Mud, and Wet Mud.

1 part Scorched Brown > 4 Parts water, dipped toothbrush into mix and ran finger across bristles.
1 part Bestial Brown > 4 Parts water, dipped toothbrush into mix and ran finger across bristles.
1 part Snakebite Leather > 4 Parts water, dipped toothbrush into mix and ran finger across bristles.
