I have all my bikers assembled now.

Got the bases (from a company called Bases 4 War as Dark Art Miniatures who did my other bases don't have a set of bike bases) painted:

And the first 3 bikers have some paint on, but a long way still to go

Good looking stuff, I especially like the use of Mk4 helmets to tie the force together. It's a small touch but it really shines when they're pictured all together.

Thanks

Keep meaning to take another group shot, but I guess I will wait now until the bikers are done and take shots of the finished army all together.

Also, just noticed that it's just past the 2 year mark since I started this blog. I really need to paint faster

Well since your like the rest of us with low painting, just give ll your models veterans of the long war skills. They look fabulous at any pace though , really making it hard on me not to build my own salamanders force. I REALLY want to.

So I thought I might as well keep this blog going, and show pics of other things I am working on, to try to keep my motivation up.

My current projects are:
1) Deadzone terrain and rebels.
2) Mierce Darklands

Here are some pics of Mierce models I have completed recently:

And here are a couple of awesome assembled models:

And here's a WIP of my first Mierce troll!

Tried to find a different skin colour to the more usual green, and I am quite pleased with the result.

Nice work on the troll. What colours did you use on his skin?

You're very welcome, and I certainly don't mean to detract from your Deadzone postings. I don't know anything about Deadzone beyond the fact that it's produced by Mantic. Although your postings just now did prompt me to look into some of their Terrain offerings.

But I'm super interested in your Salamanders army primarily for the usage of Mk4 armor. I've actually been planning and developing a Pre-Heresy army that ideally will use a lot of models in Mk4 suits so it's nice to see so many of them painted up, assembled, and in one place.

Well, thanks to your prompting I have finally got off my arse and taken a group pic:

It's fairly high-res, so if you click it you can then zoom in a bit.

I've just come through this blog. You've got some really consistently fantastic work here. I know it's a step back in time, but I'd love to see some more (and bigger!) full-army shots of the Salamanders. Perhaps on that DZ scenery?

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the comments

I have been on an extended break from painting, having lost my painting mojo again. I think I am coming to the end of it, though, and hope to get back behind a brush soon, probably to finish off my DZ rebs.

Maybe I need a lofty painting target like yours, AzazelX. At this point if I manage to paint 30 figures this year I think I will be doing well

Well, set it for something achievable - 50 figures? 100? and allow yourself any number of "cheats". Mine isn't 365 figures painted from scratch - it's "365 figures finished to my current standard". If I rebase and touch up a figure from years ago, it counts (I'm doing round bases). If I finish figures that have been half-painted or 90% painted since last year (or a decade ago) it counts. Scenery? Each individual piece counts.

Then if you fail to hit it by the end of the year, set yourself the "soft" target next year of beating the previous year's output, as well as another go at the original target.

I took a few figures to work this week - along with 3 paints and 2 brushes - just to do a little highlighting in a quiet corner during my lunch break. The plan being to keep me interested, since by Tuesday night I usually lose my painting mojo until the following Saturday. Sunday I'm firing on all cylinders, then Monday I'm back at work...

I have lined up my first ever game of Deadzone for Friday, so I thought I would get a bit more terrain built.

This is the first wargaming-related thing I have done for ages, so even though it's not much, I feel a glow of pride

Got a good session in with clippers and glue last night, and assembled some more DZ terrain:

I am going to include a few more "abstract" bits like the 2 walls connected together, as I think they will work well for DZ itself, whereas the more complete buildings will do double duty for 40k as well.

First game of DZ went well, though slowly as we had to look up every rule every time...

Here's an action shot of my survey drone keeping an eye on some scary Plague types.

In the end, I won by having 7 turns of "Survive" and capturing a couple of items.

My game of DZ actually inspired me to get the brushes out, and over the weekend I finished my DZ Grogan and a Sorak too!

Unfortunately I didn't really notice the mould line on the Sorak's face until it was too late. Bah.
