Out of curiosity.. has anyone else experienced the following... my Imperial cardboard cutouts (only imperials) are a tiny bit too big to fit on the plastic base despite coming from multiple sets (one base set and one Tie Adv booster).

Bit the bullet and ordered the starter, extra dice and the first four expansions......gonna get some games in over the weekend.

yes quite a few of mine were very tight fits. But I think that's better as they dont flop out during excited movements!

I don't mind the tight fits but the ones I'm talking about are big enough that when I tried to get them to fit they started creasing a few millimeters from the edge to start bending in addition to fraying the edge. I might end up contacting FFG about that.

None of mine do that, you should totally email them.
They are really quick at sorting out issues, my copy of talisman has one figure missing, got it in the post in the uk within a week!

I think most people play 100pts Lists as recommended in the rules.
That allows you to build lists of between 3-4 rebel ships and 4-8 empire ships.

Examples from the FFG assemble your squadron article.

Elite Rebels - 2 X-wings & 1 Y-wing (99 points)

Rebel Swarm - 4 X-wings (100 points)

Elite Imperials - 2 Tie Advanced & 2 Tie Fighters (99 points)

Imperial Swarm - 1 Tie Advanced & 5 Tie Fighters (100 points)


So far I've played empire twice in my blog.
First game I ran a swarm list 1 Tie Advanced & 5 Tie Fighters and lost.
Second game I ran a elite List 2 Tie Advanced & 2 Tie Fighters and won.

Depends, are we adding more ships or loading ships up? If we're going low number aces, pushing past 100 isn't an issue. If we're running the 8 Tie horde and we're pushing past 100 to add a few more, boardspace starts to become an issue, because just like in the movies, those ties are all bouncing off one another.

So maybe two starters would be fine?

2 starters is good, that will give you a nice bunch of ships and the extra dice & counters & templates is nice too.

But, you might also want to look into at least 1 extra X-wing & normal tie fighter if anything so you can get the cards for the extra characters that aren't in the starters.

And is the only way to get Mauler Mithel, Biggs Darklighter, Luke Skywalker, and one more named TIE pilot

Gotta love how they called the Y-Wing a "Starfighter" Y-Wings are Bombers, or at least as close to bombers as the rebels have.
