Something about Chaos Daemons just screams overwhelming hordes to me.

Now imagine me setting up a 2000 point Chaos Daemons army, and then setting up that horde of Greater Daemons off to the side as "reserves"

You have no idea how much they hate those scarabs.

If they had a choice between death by scarabs or greater daemons, they would prefer hurling themselves at the Greater Daemons

I take it as a sign that I'm doing it right

Bwahahah. Sounds like you guys enjoy pushing the limits so it works out. Not like you're frightening new players away from joining the game by spawn-camping the gamestore or anything (though you'd probably be saving them a fortune in the long run..).

The Scarab Farm came into play as my best defense against the most tailored lists they could come up with. I originally had very Necron Warriors heavy lists, with a single unit of scarabs, and no Spyders. Then they started tailoring thier lists to dismantle my warriors. I found that scarabs were useful as tarpit, and started adding more of them to my lists. Then they started tailoring their lists to wipe out my scarabs faster, so I added the Spyders. It just got to be an arms race where they were fielding fewer, more epensively equipped models, verses my cheap hordes in increasingly large numbers.

I've actually given them advice on how to counter the scarab menace, but they won't take it. 20 Terminators with Thunderhammers and Stormshields with 10 Centurions may kill lots of stuff, while being hard to kill themselves, but their inconsequential when I can just tarpit them long enough with scarabs, while the rest of my army claims objectives and picks off the remainder of their forces.

Just finished up some casting and spray painting on base coats.

I did cast up the 2 60mm bases I needed for the models I'm working on at the moment, but I still need to do more.

My total for screamers is up to 21, although I only have 9 assembled and painted, so far.

I cut back on casting disks of Tzeentch, still have 10 total, only 3 painted with riders.

Because I didn't want to waste casting materials, and only had so many molds to choose from, I have another 10 bases of scarabs.

Just bought two beyblade toys in the dollar store for their avian heads. Have an idea for a custom Fateweaver.

I've looked at those Safari toys plenty of times. My wife works at AC Moore. I'm glad to see her getting put to good use!

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

I'm not going to make any more wife jokes, out of fear of being turned to stone.

Bought a Posiedon for $4, at AC Moore, and 2 Backugan top mosters things in the Dollar Store. Both of the monsters have avian heads. I figure I'll make a custom Fate Weaver model, and then use it as a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch, or Daemon Prince, when I get my Fateweaver.

He looks like he is spellcasting with his left hand, and his right hand already clutches a pole arm.

That is the truth. I don't I've ever expanded an army at this rapid rate before. Since most of the models are conversions of models I already own, or models I'm casting, there are significantly fewer delays between adding units. There is no way I could have afforded to expand an army this fast at GW prices. Having simplified my painting process has been a great time saver as well.

A work in progress pic of my Fateweaver custom.

I feel the two heads being different better served the chaos theme. The head of the staff started out as the handle on the pull cords of the toy the head came from.

Very nice counts as and yes, we all know the pain of the oh so self important GW pricing index which has not basis in reality

GW's pricing can be insane, but aside from this Chaos Daemon Army and my Ork Vehicles, all my other armies are GW models. I really do like the aesthetic, and I'm usually patient enough to find deals on the models I need.

Painting related. Tried base coating 9 Screamers pink instead of white, then applied Drutchi Violet, then immediately decided it was best to wipe off as much as possible, and then rebase coat them white.

Next time you're at Dollar Tree, check out the party favors section and look for the giant pennies. Ten 60mm discs in a bag for a buck!

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

Hit the Dollar Store and picked up 40 of those 60mm bases. I am worried that 40 may not be enough...

Did a quick inventory of my Chaos Daemons, and it's something close to 5,000 points

Blood Thirster
Keeper of Secrets x6
Great Unlcean One x3
Changer of Ways
Fateweaver
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch
Herald of Tzeentch 10+
Herald of Slaanesh
Pink Horrors 100+
Screamers of Tzeench 29+
Beasts of Nurgle 3+
Plague Bearers 10+
Daemonettes 10+
Furies 10+

The worst part is that I don't feel that I'm even close to finished.

I know I still want to add:
Belakor
Daemons Princes dedicated to each god
Plague Drones
Nurglings
Soul Grinder
more Screamers of Tzeench (Have materials just need to spend the time casting)
more Beasts of Nurgle (Have conversion fodder just need to spend the time converting)
more Plague Bearers (Have conversion fodder just need to spend the time converting)
more Daemonettes (Waiting for Mantic Succubi to arrive)

It's all part of Tzeentch's plan.

I was able to exercise some restraint earlier today, and resisted the urge to build an Astra Militarum force out of Dust Tactics minaitures.
They are pre-painted and on clearance. There were enough models for 2 60 man infantry companies in my shopping kart before I talked myself out of it.

Those minis are pre-painted already? Even the normal ones, not just the expensive ones?

Man... good thing I closed my MM browser before I lost control. Good thing I didn't read this first lol.

Mostly the models that people are converting over to Adeptus Mechanicus all dissapeared, but the the 5 man infantry packs for $3.99 were still there and a solid deal.

I already have a crap ton of Astra Militarum models that I haven't painted, and pre-painted seemed a brilliant idea. To be honest, if I had a little more disposable income at the moment I would have jumped on it.

Kill Team taught me I could field 55 guard + conscripts for 200 points. I figure whatever future Astra Militarum Force I field that I should spend 1000 points of it to put 275 foot sloggers on the board, and the rest on tanks. It works out to 25 units for 5 FOC slots and 1000 points. They would have to wipe out 5 units a turn, just to deal with troops choices

Would suck in a timed tournament environment, but if you and your opponent like rolling lots of dice at home... could be fun.

I need to cease and desist on the model buying front.. so even though some of those look like a good deal.. had to resist. Kind of hard though.

I don't really play in tournaments, so it's never really been an issue for me. Strategically though, for any army with cheap expendable troops, winning through attrition is usually a viable tactic.

A few of my Space Marine opponents have gotten to the extreme of fielding 2 5 man tactical marines/scouts, plus whatever blinged out cheesy combinations they can dream of, up to whatever point value we are playing.

So your Chapter Master is, on a bike, jinking, and then making, either, a 2+ artificer armor save or a 3+ stormshield save ?
That'a cool bro, I'll throw 10 canon fodder guys at him at a time, who have no real chance of killing him, but will keep him busy, away from my important stuff.

My Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. I don't think I've posted any pictures of him painted yet

Until my Mantic Succubi models come in, these crab men are pulling duty as Lesser Daemons of Slaanesh (a.k.a. Daemonettes)

The Champion model has two mighty claws, and the standard has two sets of hands and banner made from green stuff, alluminum foil, and a paperclip.

The Great Unclean Cyclops, now has a rupterd belly, with his guts hanging out and multiple open sores, gashes, and broken flesh.

It's been soo many years since I've seen Inuyasha that I had to google that. 100 internet points BTW.

I bought one of these.

It stands about an inch taller than my Cerastus Knight Lancer, so maybe a bit too big to use as an Imperial Knight, but it was only $20.

I'm thinking of using the fists on my IKs, and converting the chasis into a looted Ork Knight.

Nicely detailed, goes together well, absolute nightmare to play with. It was impossible to reposition it, without knocking something off, and I couldn't find the right pose where it didn't fall over.
