I just want to consolidate everything into one log. Some of this is from other usernames I've had, also.
I got a new camera and I'm still (re)learning how to use it. I had a nikon d40 a few years ago that I also used for mini pictures as well as personal photos. I sold it off long ago and now I recently purchased a nikon d60. I bought a used body and kit lense off craigslist for a deal. In the near future I plan on buying a macro lens as well.
Now on to what you're all really here for. The pictures...
Fire Dragons
Bad Moons
Comments, criticisms, whatever. Let's hear it.

I've got a zuzzy Scourged Forest 4'x4' mat incoming for my work/gaming table. I originally planned on the broken blacktop mat, but after seeing this review, the scourged forest mat makes for a perfect post apocalyptic setting. I'd be lying if I didn't say all these Fallout related logs didn't inspire me. I'll be making a Fallout/Necromunda themed table here as soon as I get the mat in. Unfortunately, that will probably be another few weeks.
I've also go some infinity haqqislam for a side project, even though not many people around here play. They're roughly themed around a freighter defense squad with decking bases and probably painted with flight suits and whatever else a ship crew would have.
More camera play with the next few.
Old ork bfg ship.
Part of my epic scale orks.
Some old zombie I painted for fun.
Part of my old mordheim skaven warband.
Still working on getting better depth of field with this camera. Some of them are still a little blurry, but maybe that's just me nitpicking all the flaws because I'm crazy.
Coming soon, preview of an upcoming classic eldar harlequin army I'm assembling.

I finished (re)building my work desk with added slatwall. I'm going to order some bins and acrylic shelves soon. I've got all my paint in plastic drawers out of the picture that I plan to get on some shelves in front of me. I'm keeping the paints I use most on there currently.
I'll get pics of the gaming/work table when my zuzzy mat gets here and my airbrush setup when I get that mess sorted ... oh, and two of those ikea glass display cases. I want to find some clear acrylic shelves I can put in there to get a little more space.

Some more workspace images coming. I have some minor changes to make as well as more additions, but for the most part, it's done. It's been a long work in progress.
An old fallout shelter sign above my gaming table.
Overall shot. The organizers are filled with bits to be sorted. The paint on the table is getting moved soon. The rest is covered in minis.
The paint is probably going into that white plastic organizer there on the floor for now. Mediums, thinners, and glues on the shelf with the bits.
Close-up of the desk. Daylight bulbs in organizer base lamps and a clamping lamp up top. Paints on the shelves and pigments, oils, washes and brush cleaner in the containers on the left side. On the right has clamps, various putties, magnets, and knives. I want one more really large shelf to bridge the gap across the bottom to hold all my paints and a slatwall bin organizer. I also found what would make a good brush holder.
Airbrushing area, closet full of terrain making supplies, and computer desk. Not shown are the sheets of pink foam, mdf sheets (there's small stacks of mdf in the shelf in the closet), foam core, and other terrain materials. If you peek on the left side, you can see how large my work space is. The rest of the work area is twice the size of what you see, but this area is for minis only.
I finally organized this area. Drawers has cup, sticks, cotton swab sticks, and extra airbrush parts. The small ultrasonic cleaner is for the airbrush. The large one is for stripping miniatures. I use an Iwata HP- CS with a tanked compressor.
And for continuity sake, here's my computer. Nothing exciting except dakka on the screen. Note the receiver. I've got 4 speakers on 2 channels mounted on the walls surrounding my studio.
I'm pretty proud of my work area, so I would love to hear some comments and recommendations. I have a lot of tools I plan on getting (micro-mark chopit, namely) for scratch building and terrain, but I'm always on the hunt for a useful multi-functional tool (a keen eye would have spotted my Leatherman sticker). Automatically Appended Next Post: More camera testing. I'll get it right here soon.

Here's some recent work. I'm on vacation, so expect plenty of updates over the next week.
This is very exciting, I know.
But...
Oh wow! Something that makes sense! GW flight stands are miserable, so I magnetized them. I did about 25 jetbikes, 3 vypers, and 6 grav tanks.
Catachan command squad and the coolest bits I could find? This sounds like a recipe for an awesome necromunda gang to come...

I'm always jealous of excellent workspaces. I'm in an apartment I expect to be spending no more than a year in, so I can't really "Go to town".
Congrats, and enjoy vacation!

Some Striking Scorpions. I did a whole unit, but only felt like trying to get a pic of these three. I'm kinda bummed that the shading in the green got really washed out after the varnish. They look good on the table, though.

I've been ignoring the internet lately. It, along with everything else I like, is the dream killer. You wont get anything done with a computer around.
But here's some stuff to entertain you during the time when you should be doing something more productive!
A nice Zuzzy mat! This one in particular. 4'x4' size. This one will be used for post- apoc style skirmish games in my basement.
Great detail and thin but durable. This thing oozes hard work. Nice variation in textures and interesting details. I'm very impressed at the quality for the price but the wait is a tough one. I think it took roughly eight weeks to get mine. Cheap, fast, or good. Choose two. I'll take cheap and good any time.
I was given a sample piece for the long wait. It was nice to have the extra bit to get an idea for a color scheme. Sure, you could slap some paint on and drybrush it and it would look great. I wanted to give this quality work the attention it deserves, so the extra piece was a lifesaver for getting the techniques down for this daunting piece of work.
And here's the letdown... One mediocre shot of the final result.
For real though, I'll do a full write-up with tutorial for doing up one of these yourself.
And if these few seconds of glancing over these photos wasn't enough procrastinating, here's my cute new dog for you to ooh and ahh at.

Here's the initial dry fit of an old armorcast revenant titan. I figure this is a good project to get a lot of documentation on since it is so large. I always forget to take photos while in the process, so this will be an exercise in that as well. I plan on doing the bulk of my updates on my blog here, and my log here on dakka will be more for interaction and whatever doesn't make it to the blog.
There's also a decent view of my zuzzy mat. I just bought some more weathering powder and alcohol to give it a dustier look after I apply a few more washes. I plan on having a whole tutorial on that... eventually.

I feel I've said it plenty already, but I can't stress enough how awesome of a product this is. It's a great centerpiece in my gaming/work area.
And no, I have no affiliation with Zuzzy.

Nice review. One question though - they say to only use paint sparingly right? How has your paint and pigment held up? Have you rolled it up many times?
I'm tempted by one although the postage costs to the UK put me off.

I haven't rolled it with the pigments yet, but when it was just paint and washes it held up just fine. I was honestly surprised when I saw how well the paint adhered to the rubber. I figured any rough handling would affect it, but I've stacked trays and bins on the table, dragged stuff across the top, and abused it more than it would see in a game without any paint loss.
