Thanks but I have ordered some transfer printer paper, that ought to be ideal. I might also try making my own stencils, I figure cutting them out of masking tape is the way to go, will try it.

The building is looking good and almost ready, just need to add these finishing touches.

Dig into this directory here (it is mine): http://vfocus.com/~bcj/Dakka/

You'll find the original GW signage and building templates for when the first "City Fighting" rulebook was published (pre-GW city terrain! ) There's a few other gems in there, as well. Enjoy.

PS: One of the gems in there looks like this, when finished:

Nice thanks, although now I am quite excited about being able to come up with my own designs and use them as transfers.

I used to have a river almost exactly like that one, those were the days.

Had some more games today and I remembered to get a photo of the board, relatively high res although my camera is a bit grainy in poor light:

Just got back from a couple of fantastic games of Lord of the Spire. We built a 27" tall tower connected to 3 starting bases with multiple routes up. Lord of the Spire is an underhive game where each of the competing gangs has to try and get to the top of the tower while under fire, with a crowd of spectators watching from the stands. Highlight of the game was probably the Scaly (giant crocodile man) getting set on fire, and then meltagunned. There aren't many games where you get to slag a flaming crocodile.

I finished painting the building from a couple of pages ago. It started as an entry in the fighting pit competition but it changed into something else, now it is a hab unit - or at least the entry to an underground hab called Peach Trees:

Sorry but no Ordinatus in Necromunda.

Cheers Neil, I felt that you raised the bar somewhat so I spent a bit more time on this one. And totally copied your crackle paint idea. Photography was just on a phone camera while trying to hold my painting lamp in a good position... worked OK.

That is some amazing terrain! Who made this?

Thanks - I made and painted it, there is a WIP a couple of pages back showing the construction a bit.

But Dang mate, those pictures of the peach trees hab block, i have seriously been looking at them for like an hour....this is terrain everyone who plays Necromunda should play on. I bow in awe

Take care.

Hey Bruticus, it's hard to come up with something original to say, since the guys before me hit the nail on the head: That terrain is mind-blowingly cool!

Makes me want to sit right down and work on some Necromunda / INQ28 terrain. And even though I'll have to resist the urge for now, your example really makes me want to step up my game concerning (under)hive terrain.

Fantastic job!

Thanks for all the positive comments, glad everyone likes this building, it's the single biggest project I've done in terms of time and effort.

Not sure really if I do anything special, every photo in the thread is with the same phone camera. It's a decent camera, but the main thing is light - in any dim yellow light the photos go horribly grainy (there are some in this thread, the one of the 27" tower is grainy as it was taken just in yellow light). I use an app called Camera+ (I think) that has a stability mode where it only takes the pic if the camera is still, pretty much have to hold my breath to take them sometimes, that really helps. Take at the highest res possible and reduce it later. Also a lot of people don't know they can manually set the focus on a phone camera, on mine you just tap the screen where you want focus (eg on the photo with the juve inside the room, focus is on the cracked paint as I wanted to show that off). Even still, usually about half of the photos I take are too blurry or have bad focus, so I take plenty and pick the best. The photo of the full board is just in daylight, but was the best shot I could get while loads of others looked terrible.

For light in this last set I put on a couple of lamps to either side and then took pics while holding my painting (daylight bulb) lamp. I discovered that you can get better pics if you put a tshirt or similar over it, otherwise it is too bright for the camera, you can see a lot of the metallics reflect the light too much.. I looked in the viewfinder and moved the lamp around until the shadows were the most interesting on some. I also cropped the pictures in photoshop and on some I did some retouching, usually to saturation, contrast and the levels, although these didn't need much retouching. I'm a graphic designer so this stuff is familiar for me, plus the dakka gallery can automatically adjust some stuff when you upload which is good.

I still say you should add the bloody bits of a poor sap caught by the doors of "peachtrees" just cause. (for those who have seen Dredd3d you'll get the joke.)
