It's very very fun.

Simple to the point but at time it's insane the more you Kill the more they come....

last game I was backed into a room trying to kill them as I ended up with a ton of them in a board tile... Molotov... we walked out of the room guns blazing and ran for the exit... 2 made it 2 did not....

I tell you what if you missed it buy it. it's not your average board game. if you missed the kickstarter that sucks. I got so much stuff in my first shipment... Very fun.

I've really enjoyed playing the game. The rules are actually pretty simple and easy to pick up. Miniatures and tiles are top notch. It's a quality product all around.

The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the rules could have been laid out better. On the plus side is that once you have played a game or two, you will probably never use the rule book for anything other than the scenarios, which seem to handled well.

From the Kickstarter page

Whoa there.... how exactly are you being cheated Jamie? We're packing and shipping as fast as we can and will be done pretty soon (as in, within a couple of days). Taking time out to address every comment about "where's my tracking number?" isn't a good use of time better spent packing - batch updates will go out, when they go out. Relax, take a deep breath, your game will be with you sooner than you think. All international pledges are going out via Priority Mail, which is no slouch.
To set the record straight - we sent out 2600 copies before Gencon, which is everyone in the USA who logged into the CKPM and locked their pledges. We have since shipped over 2000 rewards domestically and internationally and expect to have everything done by Wednesday.
We're going above and beyond what we promised in almost every respect (including providing tracked shipments, which isn't common on Kickstarters) and will continue to do so in future.

Also, important note for international backers. The average Abomination package shipment phase 1 cost for shipping, on postage alone, is $45, excluding packaging materials and labor. You'll see it when you receive your reward. You're getting a very good deal here, but if ANYONE is still feeling hard done by, we'll refund you and take care of it.

Not true. Packages going from the US to other countries via USPS can be tracked. It's a (roughrly) $12 option, but the countries available are limited (slightly).
It's called "Registered Mail."

Got the game, loving it. I highly recommend it. Only issue we've had is the difficulty- sometimes it seems too easy. We just skip the "blue" spawn level for the zombies and it usually makes it tougher just because players level up faster at the start. It really all depends on your zombie and weapon draws though.

For added awesomeness we tried not resetting the characters after each scenario. By the end of the first scenario someone always made it into the orange, so for each other scenario we played the difficulty started higher and the players were already armed. Characters that died were forced to reset their XP to zero and lost all cards they had.

On a kickstarter related note, Tom Anders of Impact Miniatures just sent out a message to his backers of their latest kickstarter detailing where all the funds go and to assure people that kickstarter launders suually aren't swimming naked in piles of casd after it's over.

One of the questions we've seen is wondering when a project does so much better than its initial goal ... does that mean the creator of the KickStarter is normally swimming in extra cash? Frequently the answer really is no. Stretch Goal are wonderful if they are done right they can give bonuses to the customer and at the same time increase the product line you bring out ... but they do chew up financial resources quickly.

So here is the breakdown right now of where we expect the $24230 from this project to go:

$5900 - Stainless Steel Dice moulds
$5280 - Dice castings
$1509 - 8 different licensing fees
$2563 - KickStarter/Amazon fees + possible non-paying backers
$1440 - Shipping of product from factory to Impact!
$3249 - Shipping from Impact! to Backers
$4057 - D3s, D4 to D20 sets, D24 and D30s
$232 - Prototypes and Master Copies for moulding of the dice

TOTAL $24230

As you can see ... it goes fast. Notice no line in there for owners of Impact! putting cash in their pockets. That is not a compliant from us ... we are very excited to be bringing these 4 new dice to market and hope to get some mortgage paying funds early next year from them. I just wanted to actually give you all a look behind the scenes because I've seen thoughts that someone is getting loaded from the success of a KickStarter and the honest truth is normally that if they break even ... they probably did the KickStarter correctly (and I've read a lot of horror stories already where someone did not budget correctly and is having problems fulfilling a KickStarter that over funded).

I like information ... I think its good for a company to talk to its backers and customers ... so just wanted to give you idea of where you money is going.

Project Update #67: Mini-update: Shipping winding down

We have about another 500 pledges to put together and expect to have everything left out tomorrow (or Thursday on the outside) USPS trucks.

International (and APO addresses) tracking numbers won't be scanned until everyone's stuff is out the door, it's just not a good use of time that could be used packing.  We expect to get you tracking info by the weekend.

Reminder: International rewards are going USPS Priority Mail - you may, in some cases, receive the game before you get tracking info.  Please do not PM about tracking info until after we post an update that international tracking info has gone out, we won't have time to address it till then.

Onwards! I can see the top!

I don't think anyone assumed that the CoolMini guys (or anyone for that matter) were ‘swimming’ in money, or that they were delaying shipments so that they could dance naked amongst the piles of cash they just got. I think people were annoyed that they only shipped US domestic orders first, then went off to a trade show to sell copies there, leaving the rest of us sucking our thumbs.

I just hope Sedition Wars doesn’t have the same issues (and we can’t complain about Bones – they haven’t even made the stuff yet, so they can’t ship it out yet!).

Zombicide should soon be available in any good store or survival through our online store but in the meantime, we asked Nicolas Raoult, one of the authors of the game, we talk about the game and its creation. Zombicide market the game offers good zombie games. They all have an atmosphere, history, mechanisms that define his personality. Zombicide is no exception to the rule, except that it has a route rather ... unusual. Would you read the story of Zombicide ? This is an opportunity to discover its environment and its mechanisms from another angle. After that, I am sure, you will not see this game as a game of zombies.

Patient Zero

The term "patient zero" means the initial host an epidemic. Zombicide was born in the minds of members Guillotine Games, a box composed of very young but veterans of the game world all started when Percy Montblanc, one of us said that publishing a first game on the theme of zombies would be a good idea.

Raphael Guiton, Jean-Baptiste Lullien and myself, designers, then we let our imagination wander. We worked together for years and love it: for a while now, we wanted to create a game that would put the team first. following points that emerged very quickly our first discussion, and are now the pillars of the game:

Zombicide game is fully cooperative. The players really play as a team, in a spirit of brotherhood. The zombies are led by the game itself. It is possible to play "sniper", but it is a challenge: the zombies are really dangerous. It is also possible to betray his neighbor, but frankly, it does nothing. Few games offer such a team. Cooperation is not only essential for survival, it is above all incredibly fun .

Zombies, they break their teeth. In Zombicide , people like you and me become heroes because they decided not to let that happen. They all take their destiny in hand and break the zombie to achieve the objectives of the different missions of the game Much has been made in the world of zombies, including parodies. We plotted the editorial line Zombicide between different avatars of its kind with a big detour action movies and heroes who are not afraid of anything. The city where the game takes place is straight out of a Hollywood movie. Of course we can hide and avoid confrontation to find food, rescue people or recover valuable materials, but it is not really the idea: it's called Zombicide for good reason. Now, the zombies, they break your teeth!

The whole family can play Zombicide . The game is on the table, not in the book of rules. We wanted to develop a game with mechanisms accessible and rich in possibilities and the unexpected. The game rules are assimilated in thirty minutes. There is not a single tray, but nine tiles that fit together at will to create a multitude of stories. Chance and reflection are measured fairly. Parts are linked but not the same. In addition to testers, we also played Zombicide with our wives, our cousins, even with our children, and everyone wanting more.

How does it work? Just pull the trigger!

Zombicide is a game for 1-6 players (yes, you can play solo). Each player runs from January to April survivors colorful. Each survivor has a skill, an innate talent that makes it unique. Wanda, the waitress goes faster than everyone because she skates. Phil, the cop starts the game with his service weapon. Ned, crazy, is to find the best equipment. As designers, we wanted the characters in the game are from the ordinary. Players understand very quickly that the zombies are relentless and only the team game lets hope for a victory. Sometimes the situation demands a sacrifice and a survivor is carried by zombies to save the rest of the team. The idea was to put normal people in situations where all the marks crumble, and these people become heroes together. Throughout the game, the survivors eliminate zombies and progressing experience. The danger level of the game increases when certain levels of experience are crossed: the survivors learn new skills and progress on the path of heroism. In return, the zombies are more and more dangerous. In Zombicide , there is always the temptation to engage in carnage to become stronger. This is not always a good idea: there comes a time when too many zombies for the group that eventually circled. One of the subtleties of the game is to find the right balance in the level of danger: high enough to allow the group to overcome the crowd of zombies, but not enough to prevent a riot. Survivors are weapons of all kinds being part: sawed, machete, sniper rifle, katana and of course, the inevitable chainsaw. Yes, you can find a submachine gun hidden in the bathroom, and no, we do not count the ammunition. Zombicide action oriented and the second degree of realism pure and simple. Combat actions are resolved with six-sided dice: it is to launch as many dice as weapons permits, to meet or exceed the difficulty imposed, and remove as many zombies as successful achieved. Some weapons are more effective in pairs have a machete or a pistol in each hand gives the air is cooler and wickedly effective. Upon his turn, each survivor has three actions that the player can use as he appears: moving, use a ranged weapon or melee, open a door, search an area or even get in the car are part of possible actions. Assemblies according to the specifics of the mission or the goodwill of the players, the slabs form a plate divided into zones. Inside a building, an area is a room (bedroom, garage, hall, etc..) In the street, the zones are defined by the pedestrian-crossing. zombies are divided into four types: the walker (the zombie classic), runner (faster and more dangerous), the big pile (taking the caliber!) and the Abomination, the only zombie throwing a Molotov cocktail, the most powerful weapon in the game (and single use), can eliminate. They move and act only according to simple rules:

Zombies head in priority to the survivors they see.
In the absence of visible target, they move towards the area most noisy. Shoot, kick or smash chainsaw doors makes noise. Noise management is a major tactical Zombicide .
On his turn, each zombie inflicts injury survivor located in the same area as him. Two wounds sufficient to eliminate a survivor. No need to roll, it is automatic and downright deadly.

A final rule?

Zombies arriving on the game board by zones of invasion indicated by tokens. They also haunt inside buildings: opening the door of a building reveals all the zombies there. They can also get manholes cards drawn randomly during the game or ambush survivors searched areas in search of hardware. You thought zombies were predictable? You were wrong. The more refined the strategy can be reversed by an unexpected entirely due to chance!

Well, apart from two or three details, you know how to play Zombicide . It's short and simple but game situations are so numerous that the tactical richness immediately obvious. Nicolas Thank you for this news. Do not hesitate one second. Reserve today your copy of Zombicide and be the one of the first to break the zombie! Zombicide is a cooperative game: players compete Zombies led by the game itself. Each player controls one, two, three or four survivors of a zombie infection. The goal is simple: survive and complete the given objectives.

An interesting post on the Relic Knights comments feed, talking about CMONs postage pricing, re zombicide

CoolMiniOrNot 8 minutes ago

Regarding shipping - ultimately this is a business decision we're forced to make, but lest we appear to be gouging, here's some numbers.

Zombicide cost us, on average $40 to ship an 8lb box to Canada, $50 to Europe and $60 to Australia via USPS Priority Mail, a relatively fast method. Only couriers and Express Mail are faster. We charged $25, so absorbed the rest. Savior pledges will come to about 8lbs with books etc. And no, the price doesn't decrease because we ship 16 lb on Double Savior.

For Europe, this is an added service, we will be paying a 3rd party company to import and unload what is likely to be a partial container, transfer it to a warehouse, store it, pick and pack and send it out. Obviously, they want to get paid, and the general price of packaging materials in the UK is higher than in the US (as is nearly everything, including fuel). After that, UPS throughout Europe will cost us at least 12-15 pounds, (about $20 - $25). This is also not inclusive of potential tax liability, for which we are getting advice that we should probably be paying since we aren't a UK entity. Factor in additional exchange rate risk, because this project is set to ship in May 2013 and $25 is a steal, with $35 to $40 being closer to a fair price.

So international backers, sorry the price can't come down, and is as reasonable as we can make it. If anything, it's the US backer that's subsidizing you, not the other way round (it cost us $11 to ship it by Fedex Smartpost in the USA). On for the love of unholy Darkspace, US backers please don't write in asking not to subsidize the international lot!

Creator CoolMiniOrNot less than a minute ago

Oops forgot to add, of the $25 charged, $2.50 disappears in credit card and Kickstarter fees. So we are paying $40-$60 in postage out of a $22.50 kitty for international rewards shipping. This, of course, is not your problem, but should go some way to explain why we set it at that level.

so you now know what a lot of your cash was spent on!

The logistics and costs I find very interesting, on the surface t looks like the kickstarter is a grand slam home run for profit but when you boil the numbers down you get to see just how fast those costs add up. I think it's very cool to have a peek behind the curtain, and it's another reason I love how they've been running things.

It reminds me of GW 15-20 years ago when they used to be connected to their fans rather than just pumping them like money bags. I'm really happy I was able to help contribute on heir kickstarter effort as they have a great feel for what player want and how to involve them in the process.

The previewed zombies look pretty sweet, Can't wait to see what else is in store for the game.
