Did anyone else notice an "extra" packed into their box? I was pulling everything out of the big bags that the vampire level comes in, and at the bottom of that box was an extra baggie filled with the NOVA team... did anyone else get something like this?

Lucky you!
Reaper Bryan and a few volunteers are actually in this weekend concentrating on packing up the really huge orders (US/ROW & Canada) that will slow the line down during the week.
They're also having to hand check each Kaladrax as there have been too many reports of missing parts from backers for comfort (the left and right front legs seem to look similar enough that some got miss-packed in Chinese factory)

Looking at the numbers yesterday they seemed to be in the 60+ items range (Vampire box = 1 item, paint set = 1 item etc)

Yes you will be able to buy the Vampire Box at retail once all the KS backers have had their stuff shipped
Last I heard it will be around $400 (sold separately the minis would come to about $500)
Reaper themselves will certainly be doing this, not sure if it will be going out to dirstribution and game stores too
(you may also want to take a look on Ebay as some are selling whole Vampire Boxes and they seem to be $250-300 at the moment)

It's listed in the "Preview gallery right now, which is usually about one month ahead of the game I think.

I do agree with Orlando though, at this point your best bet is Ebay. You'll save a good 100-200 bucks more by going there.
Here's one with a BIN of $229 shipped!

Reaper has a tendency to add extras from time to time. I have ordered kits from them and on the invoice it includes a note about the possibility of extras included as a thank you. I've gotten a couple of models that way and some paint. By the way the Holiday Green "Christmas Wreath" is one of the best greens I've ever seen and used. I choose the skeleton level on the KS and still got a Mister Bones. So it's really just reaper being awesome.

Yeah, Christmas Wreath green paint was a fantastic inclusion during the 12 days of minis promotion a couple years ago. They also included mini candy canes. I can remember it well because it was one of the only things to make me feel really warm and happy and in the holiday spirit 'round then.
I still have no shipping notice... and not expecting it for a while. I'm the prettiest of them all!

Out of interest, how long does the US shut down for around the 4th of July? Obviously Thursday the 4th, but are either Wed 3rd or Friday 5th likely to be a holiday as well?

Depends on the company. Banks and the post office are generally only closed on the day of.
Ups might be as well, no idea about reaper.

My garbage normally runs on Fridays, but won't on the 5th. My manufacturing plant is running on the 5th. US Postal Service will run. Reaper will either run or not, their choice.

The Bank I work for is "open" on the 5th.
But I'm not sure how many folks are actually going to be in the office.

Got our Bones in, and Zeus promptly decided we should finish doing 'real work' before opening the box:
Then the power went out and that stopped any 'real work' from happening, took the bone over to a decent window and opened it up, everything looks good aside from some bent swords and the spongy head on Kaladrax.

To the folks with Spongey model syndrome, are you going to ask Reaper for a replacement?
Bent weapons are an acceptable part of metal, resin and vinyl models, but if any of my model figures are spongey enough that they indent when pressed, I'll be asking for a replacement.

So basically, once their tracker on their website shows everything has been shipped, are they going to release the KS figures for retail? I wasn't able to back this, but I've eagerly been awaiting my chance to mass a quick cheap army of IMEF Marines and Nova Corps troops.

Yes, in fact a number of them are already up for preorder on Paizo and a few other sites.

I am going to probably ask for a replacement on a few really spongy models, yea. Kaladrax's head might be workable, but a few weapons and staves are so soft they are going to bend with the touch of a brush. I tried already, and they are more flexible than the bristles, so that's a no-go for me.
However, just for bent stuff, reshaping is easy just by dropping in hot water. Interestingly, if you reshape it, then drop it back in the hot water you can watch it go back to the original shape. That was fun.

The infamous Wehrkind Spongy Factor - named after the first user to report the issue.
I'm not aware if Reaper is aware of it, or if they've made any comment about it...

I suspect that the spongy model stuff was a deliberate choice made when casting to allow parts with overhangs to be removed from the molds. If we start comparing models, I bet we would find that all of the same parts are spongy.
So far I've found Kaladrax's head & tail tip, We Be Goblins, Medium Fire Elemental & Red Dragon. I'm sure more will be found as I dig through the rest of the vampire box.

Possible, but I hope not. I can't imagine any faster way to discredit bones as a miniatures material than deliberately spongey parts.

My Kaladrax head, (possibly his tail), Cthulhu's head, I didn't notice it on the goblins (I can check again tonight), possibly the sword on my Storm Giant, and that's all I really noticed it on. My fire elementals were fine, but I'll check again.
Medium fire elemental is the one with wings right? If so she fell behind my bookcase D:
