I suppose it is MUCH to late to find someone to piggyback a couple of the SDE promos? I have no Sedition Wars interest, but I love my SDE...

It's not so late as you think: after the huge delay was announced they allowed people to reopen the pledge manager. I still haven't decided on my final factions!

The unlock option is gone the only way you can have an open RK order now is if you opened it and haven't confirmed it again.

FYI throne of angels podcast has some production plastics for WoK, which is, I'm told, the same plastic used for the relic knights stuff.

Factory visit and production planning
28 comments

We'll be visiting the Relic Knights factory next week to review the tools (both complete and in progress), and plan production for both the Kickstarter and retail.

Our plan is to begin production next week and gradually ramp up - we're still on track for a November ship out if everything goes according to plan.

On behalf of Soda Pop and CMoN, thank you for your patience - we're almost there!

Supposedly we're still on track for November!

So sometime in the next 43 days - great news indeed!

I'm guessing that everyone should lock in their pledges soon...

CMON have never missed a deadline and have always been great at communicating about delays well before any deadlines are missed.

Sorry for the long pause while we were working out all the variables, we've been working hard on getting all the info together for everyone,

First of, this project is by far the largest we've ever handled, in terms of the sheer number of different product SKUs (71). For example, there were multiple questions from the printers to Soda Pop and this required sorting out in detail to minimize any possibility of errors at production. The QC process has therefore been more laborious, but the consensus has been better to get that right than rush it. At this point, we expect to finish production sometime in November.

Second, because of the large number of SKUs, it's going to be extremely easy for a 3rd party fulfillment house to miss something or mess it up for each of your individual orders if you are in the EU since these guys aren't as familiar as we are with Relic Knights.

So the fulfillment plan is threefold -

1. Complete production on the Kickstarter quantities in November

2a. USA - airship the Kickstarter quantities into our warehouse for USA, where they will be kitted and distributed as normal.

2b. EU - fly a small team to China to supervise kitting of each individual EU package (working with our factory partners there) so there will be no packing cock ups, then airship the completed packages to the EU for distribution. Or in simpler terms, we will pack, seal and address your packages at the factory, then post it from within the EU, and that means everyone in the EU will get shipped at the same time.

2c. Asia-Pacific - We will kit out these packages similar to what we're doing with the EU, this will mean Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China will ship from China instead, rather than the USA which will reduce the round trip time considerably.

Our current goal is to have all shipping complete by December - and we'll update you with shots of the full production packages as we go along. Sorry for the long wait; the models are sweet and will be worth it!

so they are going to spend a considerable chunk of cash on lots and lots of airfreight with a small slippage on starting shipping, well done CMON

(although stuff in the Xmas post, shudder!)

Not too shabby. Have to say I was surprised they are going to try to ship in December(which they haven't yet, so something can change).

So only one month later than their 6 month late projected delivery time?

Not too bad...

Though at this point, they really should be showing us pics of actual production models.

I suspect the air shipping is actually CMON, as Rivet Wars (also a CMON game shipping in Nov) posted an update outlining the exact same shipping procedures

I'm sorry, but you could give as many craps as mother Theresa and air freighting that to the US still wouldn't make sense.

Did somebody say air freight?

I'm legitimately shocked they're air freighting stuff over. I understand it can nearly double the costs.

Big props to Soda Pop. I always had good interactions with them in the past, and this really solidifies those warm feelings.

I think another possible explanation is that the models DO look great, and if they can get them out there faster, the results for Wrath of Kings will be much, much better.

Maybe?

Could explain why the WoK pledge manager hasn't gone up yet.

Truth be told, I think it has less to do with Soda pop and more to do with CMoN.

But impressive nonetheless.
