Subject: Chaos Marine Termy Lord?: Revisited after FAQ

Courageous Space Marine Captain

Just wondering what comes in the kit, weapons wise. I already know there is a Cyclops head and a staff for the Sorceror and a Combimelta but what else? And what, currently, is the best laodout for a Lord with Termy Armour and MoK without a combimelta (As I need this for later)?

Box has paired claws, a power fist, a chainfist, force staff, power axe, combi-melta, TL bolter. Best loadout for all lords is 'no'. If you insist on having one with MoK, you have few options and less that aren't terrible. Combi/fist is really the only decent one, but I guess you're taking bolter/fist or paired claws if you're not worried about AP2.

Mark of khorn termie Lord needs the lovely lovely lightning claws, or power axe. They are base 3 attacks, plus 1 for the lightning claws, plus 1 for mark.
Thats 5 power weapon attacks that reroll to wound . Thats pretty snazy imho.
If you give him the power axe, you lose 1 attack, gain 1 point of str, lose 4 points of init (for init order anyway) and then gain a point of ap. It looks like this
Lightning claws: Str 4, 5 attacks, init 5, ap 3, reroll to wound
Power axe: str 5, 4 attacks, init 1 (for init order) ap 2
Also, consider points cost into this, iirc, dual lightning claws cost 25 points total
the power weapon costs 10.
MOK lord is great, just realize where his power lies. He is going to MAUL 3+ opponents with dual LC at init, with the power axe, its cheap, makes him stronger, and lets him hurt 2+ but at init 1 (although the fist does this, and makes him str 8, it also is more expensive, same as dual LC iirc so something to consider)

Here's the sprue. There are several melee weapons though nothing that looks like a daemon weapon.
For MoK people used to go lightning claws, which will still work unless you charge terminators, in which case you'll need the axe or fist. The Khorne daemon weapon is interesting too if you are willing to risk it

I say daemon weapon. 17 possible attacks on the charge is just too fun to pass up.
I exclusively use daemon weapons.

Why does he lose one attack? In the new rules you can get +1 attack from having both a Power Axe and Lightning Claw.

Hm. Thanks for the input. I think I may take all of them, just pin the arms and weapons. So I could have
Power Axe and Twinlinked Bolter
Dual Claws
Daemon Weapon (Gonna count the Axe as Daemon Weapon when needed)
Chainfist and Bolter
Power Fist and Bolter
Chainfist and Lightning Claw (Tyberos Style FTW!)
Powerfist and Lightning Claw.
I think out of that lot the Dual Claws look the most fun. Daemon Weapon will be good if I play someone with a Horde, but LC will be fine for the MEQs. And it looks sexy as feth.
Well, thanks guys.

Me and my friends down at our FLGS have made a house rule where we cannot have SC in our games, so in games I use a sorcerer and this build has been working a good dosage every game I have used him: Sorcerer Termie armour Familiar Mark of tzeench 3 of the cheapest psychic powers Now I trade all my powers, for powers in Pyromancy and I stick him with some termie buddies and he is really decent IMHO ... Hope this helps Awaiting Butt-hurt in 3...2...1...

IS it worth going for a Personal Icon right now? Once my army fleshes out I want a Berserker list with a unit of Termies to join him too.

These combinations are not possible for a chaos lord.
Personal icons do not prevent allied daemons from scattering. Do they provide some other benefit to them?

Personal icons assist only deep striking units of your csm army, not your allies, so if you bought the lesser daemons out of the csm codex then it'd work

Hey guys, back with some new intel. So, with the release ofDark Vengeance I now have a fledgling Chaos army. Although I know a new Codex is imminent, I still have an undecided mind on which weapons I should give the Lord.
The new FAQ makes the Bloodfeeder practically a must have, its now AP2, all-important TDA cutting power. This is what I'm leaning towards.
The Power Axe, now that the Bloodfeeder is AP2, or an Undivided Weapon is now a non-Unwieldy Axe, this seems stupid to take other than saving points.
However the Lightning Claws have an undeniable aesthetic appeal. Although they now seem outclassed by the DW, they do have the Advantage of Shred and not wounding the wielder.
Which, at the moment, seems best?

Daemon Weapon or Dual Lightning claws are really the only way to go.
At this point, I'll interject and suggest magnetising his arms, that way you can have whatever you like if you can't decide between the two.
Also magnetising these arms is actually suprisingly easy in comparison to normal marines.

The blood feeder is still a terrible choice because of the almost 1/3 chance of hitting yourself instead. Even as AP2 initiative weapons, daemon weapons are a significant risk because of the 1/6 worse-than-whiffing chance. Doubling the chance of failure is a huge risk for frankly minimal gain compared to the other daemon weapons. Plaguebringer increases reliability against every target type, and with the quantity of attacks, a blissgiver lets you take out anything short of an EW. Unmarked is still a pretty underwhelming choice.

Have to disagree. The Bloodfeeder isn't bad, but there are better choices. The Blissgiver is probably our best option at this point in the game, but wait for the new dex and we could get some nice buffs

plaguebringer is my favorite as it also means you dont get ID from power fists
blissgiver means you are going first against most people, just watch out for pesky archons.

I don't have my codex to hand but I'm fairly sure it has additional rules so its AP3.

I run my Night Lords Termi lord with Twin Lightning claws and basic termies as a bodyguard.
1) He shreads anything with them.
2) No penalty to init and you strike normally.
3) they look badass on the model.
But yeah, daemon weapons are awesome... but they can hurt you too as well. Never forget that part. Power weapons, while useful, can lower your init. Power fists.... why would you take a powerfist on a termie? let alone a termie lord?

Because if you are a Nurgle lord, you can use a fist to reliably damage any potential target type including vehicles and don't care about striking at the same time as other fists because you are T5 and gib most other people who have fists. Admittedly you're still not going to like tangling with a Thunderwolf Cav with one, but still. High Str attacks have value, it's just not a lot of value. If I were running terminators as anything other than suicide melta I'd include one as insurance.
