TBH eventually you don't notice it. It becomes 'the norm', so you don't see it that way.
You mean these three photos. Not my army (at the time). Now that army's been broken up into about 5 pieces, and I have about 3k-ish of it.

2 things there... I'm not in the same hemisphere as you
And the fact that you can alter them to be better doesn't change the fact that the way they come has issues. Personally, I would find it easier to just make my own scenic bases on standard plastics rather than paying all that money for resins and having to bore out the bottoms.
And for the actual topic at hand, looking at how thin these bases are, boring out the bottom doesn't really look like a practical option.

You are correct, thats why they do not have a dished bottom, the thickness is about 2mm thick where the mini slots, simply not enough space to provide a hollow area large enough to make any difference. This was a side effect of making a thinner base so the figures could keep their bulk but still keep human proportions while looking correct next to a wider verity (read heroic scale) of miniatures
Thank you for all the feedback everyone! I am Sooooooo happy you like the way they turned out.

Hey Mathieu, I am still elbow deep in work to complete all the Kickstarter models for production and the mountain of box artwork. I will not be able to get to this until we have completed my #1 priority of getting all of you your KS rewards.... I thought about setting something up now but I want to be able to dedicate some time and interact with everyone, so I decided it may be better to wait until I can give it more time and attention.

Yes, Mark we really appreciate your staying dedicated to getting all the Kickstarter models out (and getting your models up for sale separately, too!). I think having work on the rules follow on after when you can devote more time to it (and folks have models to try it out with!) is the way to go, as you say. Egad... that really IS large! (Meaning the outer diameter) That can't only be 30mm, can it?
I'll probably get some more proxie models bases to use for these... since I want them to be usable for 40K, too.
Mark, is it just that they would not fit on a 25mm diameter base?

Looking at this comparison shot;
The stormtrooper I would say will clearly fit on a GW sized base, but because of the added height, he'd be a few millimeters taller then a marine.

Yeah, the downside is that with that large diameter (which probably helps offset the fact that they're flat on the bottom) a lot of people probably won't use the bases. But, with a smaller diameter they would've needed to not be flat on the bottom, and thus taller.
I think he took a good stab at it, and maybe I'll change my mind when I see them... but I'll likely want 40K legal bases, so 25mm diameter.

Yep. As long as they're not Dystopian Legions-level out of scale, I'll be happy with them on GW bases. Or Proxie Models ones.

I'm thinking likewise. Easier to add a ring/circle to bump 'em up 5mm (or 15mm and a shield drone for makin' termies) or just leave them spaced out a bit, and less likely to have issues with using non-standard base sizes in an Iron Core game than in a WH40K one. Plus the Stormtroopers are kinda swimmin' around on the 30s. I would like to use 25s in that style though since it's smexy and I don't care about stability, mental or otherwise. I'm guessing (hoping) the bases-intermixed-with-the-figures is just a convenience for production and handling – from Mark's comments the physical tooling costs sound likely to be low enough* to justify this and anyway, unless the sprue bushing can be moved slightly off-centre, which may not be possible on those machines (but what do I know; injection moulding isn't my field of engineering) the sprue couldn't be divided into a half-spue of figures and a half-sprue of bases anyway (the layout's actually pretty good, empty spaces notwithstanding, but certainly, like everything else, a step-up from WGFs previous work in that regard *cough* missing tantos *cough*), but I ramble and digress – and that they'll be available seperately.
RiTides wrote:Mark, is it just that they would not fit on a 25mm diameter base?
I did this a while back to see how 25mm bases would work. You wouldn't be able to use the foot-peg with the kneeling (Stormtroopers) or assaulting (Heavy Troopers) poses – quelle horreur! – but otherwise they look like they'd fit fine. SMs hang a bit off the edge of a 25mm anyway:
*Which reminds me: everyone still have a fancy for plastic shipping containers à la AT-43? Mould design should be dead simple for those, so if the tooling costs really are low enough...
__________
Mark, I was going to wait until after the first wave had shipped to raise this but with the delays I may as well do it now: what's the best way to contact you guys regarding shipping/invoicing instructions? There was no 'write random stuff here' field in the pledge manager – and no 'add $15 so you can split across multiple packages to slip under the de minimus for customs fees without having to create a separate order and lose any multiple-unit discounts' either, come to think of it – and I could be looking at a couple of hundred dollars in customs fees depending on where the NZD-USD exchange rate is when the packages arrive if they're just sent with an invoice in USD rather than in NZD at the then-current exchange rate of 0.81 so, you know, litle anxious here.

No need to apologize - I too was hoping for more info on the proposed game system!

Amazing isnt it?
Not only is Dreamforge making a plastic titan scale robot/mech/walker, something that GW wont, despite constant customer begging...but they are also releasing plastic troopers that put GW minis to shame.
Even better...this is all just the start, there is so much more in the Dreamforge world waiting to be done.

You and I both know that particular argument doesn't really hold much water.
If you're looking to maximize your player pool potential (!) you kind of have to go with the most current edition.

I'd love to put together a dockfront/spaceport warehouse area with piles of shipping containers and large crane gantries to block LOS and provide sniping towers.
