Thanks! Yeah, I actually learned a lot from playing them as well. Before playing my bugs in 6E, I honestly didn't know how they've been affected by the changes, but now, I've got to say that they've improved. Tyranids are definitely a challenge to play against for many opponents. They'll also a blast to play.

So JY2, I recently ran into a store owner who said that spawned guants need to be placed wholly within 6" of the tervigon rather than 6" bases to base. He said that the rules state they must be no more that 6" away. He said that all the rule threads mentioned that they are deployed similarily to vehicles and in 6th, you must place unit wholly within 6". I think he is looking at 5th edition threads. Have you run into this interpretation? I have always played it as 6" base to base and that is how it has been played at local RTTs in the past. How was it played at BOA?

The store owner is right. You have to place the newly spawned gants wholly within 6" of the terivgon, because if you measure only from the base of the tervigon to the back of the base of the gants, then they will actually be more than 6" away from the tervigon. At least that is the intepretation that I see. So the way I play it is that the distance from the front of the base of the termagants can be no more than 6" away from the tervigon (i.e. they are wholly within 6" of the tervigon). This also has the side effect of allowing the tervigon only to advance 5" if the gants are in his way.

Both Janthkin and I share this view and that is how we play it, no matter what tournaments we go to. As for RTT's allowing you to do this, maybe they just aren't really familiar with the rules for tyranids. I find that many players and even the TO's themselves aren't really familiar with the codices that they don't actually play. And even if the TO is familiar, if your opponent isn't familiar with the rules and thus does not bring it up to the attention of the TO's, then no one notices it and it goes through in tournament play. Mistakes like that happen all the time, even in the big tournaments. Just because you can do something in a tournament doesn't necessarily means that it is legal, only that no one was knowledgeable enough to notice or catch it.

Oops. Almost forgot to add this battle report link to my thread. This is a rematch versus SonsofGrant's Eldar/Dark Eldar Seer Council Beastpack tournament army. However, instead of my Hive Fleet Pandora, he faced my Wraithwing Scythe-cron necrons.
