Recently been re-watching all the dragonball episodes online, just started on the DBZ Sayian saga, and it got me to thinking. The amount of damage that seems to get done in fights/random mayhem seems to be whole cities/islands being destroyed or wiped out. How the hell are they repairing and rebuilding all these cities and towns and how much must it be costing people? The sheer cost must be staggering, I know people are wished back to life, I mean are they all just Capsule Corps buildings and thats how they get fixed so easily?
If you compare it to a war torn country, just look how long it took Britain to rebuild after WW2. Similar scale of damage being repaired a lot sooner. What do you guys think?
Before anyone says so, yes I know its a cartoon and not real but it is just bugging me.

They wish all the deaths and destruction away. I believe this is implied, if not stated outright.
The moon got blown up in the first series, remember?

The show never explores the consequences of the fights on the surrounding world. DBZs world also isn't earth, the continents are different and physics and economies don't work the same way.

I think the Nameks would disagree.

I thought I recall Vegeta blowing away a lot of people in the Buu saga, but saying it didn't matter since they could wish them all back anyway. And I thought I recall them actually wishing away the destruction caused by Cell and/or Buu. But it's been a while, I could be wrong.
While DBGT is hardly canon, wasn't one of the premises that the Dragonballs had been overused?

No, you're correct.

Right there. Thats your answer. They probably have whole spare cities stashed in capsules. City got wrecked in that huge battle? Get a spare out of the draw.

They were all dead before any fight occurred that caused mass damage. They were killed off largely off screen before the earthlings even reached the planet. They also had their planet restored via the dragon a year later after taking a vacation on the capsule corp campus (something never visited in the show).

I don't ever remember them saying repair all damage, mostly just the lives lost. The occasional planet as well. But never the damage.
(Also yay for 1000th post)

That is what happens when you become a DCM and your membership runs out.
I just wanted to add, that I used to love the DBZ shows/movies, and also wondered how they recovered from all that incredibly WTF destruction

I am also surprised the planet survived as long as it did. Especially with all that shaking apart from powering up.

I was referring more to the fact that the fight between Goku and Frieza destroyed the planet, which would to me fit comfortably under the heading "consequences of the fights on the surrounding world." Automatically Appended Next Post: Azza007 wrote:I am also surprised the planet survived as long as it did. Especially with all that shaking apart from powering up.
The possibility of destroying the earth is mentioned several times throughout the show. Goku stopped it from happening more than once. I believe Cell almost did it with a Kamehameha wave, IIRC.
