One book to rule them all. One team to write, and sell for both systems.

Haha it was also a shameless advert for Rogue Trader.

"Congrats, you just rolled up technological weapons for your warrior! Oh whoops, you'll need to have a copy of Warhammer 40,000 in order to see the stats for these weapons...sucks to suck!"

Granted you could re-roll it, but c'mon, who wants to miss out on their fantasy Chaos lord being armed with a plasma gun and power fist?

True, true, but i was pretty sure that the divers technological gifts had their stats in the RoC books..., don't have them with me now, so can't check, but i was pretty sure of it...

But yeah that could definetly be what GW could do...

What Chosen kit? All the Chosen pictured so far have been the DV Chosen, or the Aspiring Champ that's new (and could either be a single-frame plastic or Finecost).

It's plastic.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

That's good news. Single-frame plastics for 40K. What about the Sorcerer?

REALLY DISAPPOINTED

I was really looking forward to starting a new army and the DV chosen CSMs gave me real inspiration. Then I looked at the releases in this thread. What the hell is that power ranger dragon and why have CSMs suddenly got a zoid/dinorider (forge fiend) as a heavy support choice. I was hoping for new plastic kits for bezerkers, thousand sons etc. The current bezerker models are crap, the 1k sons need a revamp and most characters need new models (especially Abaddon). Instead of getting these we got deformed finecrap CC obliterators, a mauler zoid with a stupid looking horn sticking out of its closed mouth (is this supposed to be a tongue) and a flying dragon (what the hell is a flying dragon doing in a CSM army). The DV chosen look really nice and I was hoping for a chosen plastic kit (which I suppose may be released at some point). I also wanted a plastic cultist kit where the cultists looked like the ones in DOW (no chance of this happening now they have made the DV chosen look completely different). The raptors look ok but the warp talon posing is appalling.

I’m sure there are further CSM releases round the corner but I would really like to see the following:

New Abaddon model
New Khan model
New 1k Sons plastic kit
New Bezerkers plastic kit
New noise marines plastic kit

Maybe bring back something retro for Daemon engines (like smaller versions of the epic classics)

Canons of Khorne/Cauldron of Blood duel kit

Khorne lord of battle (a smaller version which looks less like a zoid/dinosaur)

Khorne death dealer

Some of the Tzeentch flying things

Anything would be nice but no dinoriders!

They are hardcover and full colour.
But think of the Australians who can now save money by buying the FW Hell Talon instead of the Helldrake

I'm betting that the Aus version of the codex is going to cost $75. Oh GW why do you hate us? Is it because we are better at cricket??

We've been told this - plastic dual kit for Raptors. Sanguinary Guard prices - so currently £20.50 in the UK, dunno what it's like in the US.

$25-$30 is what it is depending on store price sometimes.

Wow, like the rest of us hobbyists out there, i always love new releases whether I play the force or not, and looking at these pics I'm a bit sad for you Chaos players :-( some aspects of the images i've seen are good but some (Dinobot i'm looking at you) are just confusing! I'm not entirely sold on them fitting the aesthetic properly, i could be wrong when we get more pics etc. although I'm certain I don't like the cc Oblits! they had a chance to re design what was a chunky slap dash model that looked goofy and they made them chunky slap dash models that look ridiculously goofy! *sigh*

Oh well, i'll still look forward to more pics like the rest of us! :-)

And there it is. The real heart of this I think.

These models are overdesigned, like they took some of the design tropes of Chaos and just turned it up to 11 in order to make them different from regular Marines, but ended up with models that are just cluttered and overly busy.

See with the DV Chosen and the Lord it was ok, because they’re the leaders and most elite troops, so individualising them a bit works. With these Raptors... it’s just too much. Every single bit of them is warped or twisted in some way, and there seems to be no cohesion to them whatsoever.
Agreed 110%. What was the problem with the old CSM models? That they were boring marines with spikes and arrows stuck on. The CSM were lacking in a defined aesthetic to take them away from being basically a weird chapter of loyalists, armor wise. The legion models and to an even greater extent in my opinion the raptors were the only truly interesting armor designs that CSM had going for them. I mean really, the old raptors were unique, so many design choices that were not derivative of other designs... the claw feet, the masks, the jump packs, the shoulderpads. The new raptors among other units are just the old generic SM/CSM design with a "thicker coat of paint".

I kinda like the standard Raptor models, but everything else leaves me a bit ... meh. I think I will be buying the codex and that will be it.

Everything is too ornate now and one of the characters who should be a bit OTT, the Sorcerer, seems awfully bland in comparison. I'm glad that they have moved away from the spiky marine aesthetic, but have they moved away from it too far?

The Daemon engines seem less of a fusion of Monster and Machine and more mecha. The Epic and Forge World versions have it right and they have the look and feel that it is a machine powered by a dark denizens of the warp.

I am interested in this aspect, I wonder if there will be anything that will hamper say, taking a Slaanesh force and throwing in some Beserkers?

Nope. I don't see the similarity at all.
And the Demon Engines are vehicles. They have hull points and armor values.

Sad. And blame if I'm wrong but if the fiends are competitive and people are gong to spam them we will have to spend tons of money to

We don't know that. These are only early rumors. There's still no news on cultists choices, CSM squads, cult marines, if there's going to be those "books of chaos" a la 3rd ed, etc.

These new models are utterly terrible. After the past releases from GW I was expecting models with a little bit more character, but these new models have no character what so ever. Another reason for me to stay away from GW products.....
