as the title says what is your favourite moment in all of your 40k games?
mine was when i was playing grey knights with my salamaders in 5th edition. my opponent had a brand new land raider which he had painted for months and won painting competitions with. It was his first game using it and before he could even move it i blew it up with a lascannon on turn 1. I rolled a 6 to hit, 6 to penetrate and 6 on the table. His face was priceless...

I had 20 slugga boys hop out of a BW getting ready to charge a squad of 5 terminators. I shot all my pistols and managed to kill 3; then the terminators ran away.

Back when I played Tau I actually killed a Demon Prince with a squad of Gun Drones in close combat.
This was in a game that I was watching, but I saw a squad of Blood Angel TH/SS Terminators with a Terminator Sanguinary Priest attached get shot by a squad of Grey Knights, take just enough casualties and run off the table. Whoa boy the guy who controled those Termies was not happy.

The date was 6/6/6 and while others went to see the awful new Omen movie I was at my FLGS.
2000 point game. My Ultramarines vs Tyranids.
Simple desert terrain. A few large stones for cover and a few hills. It (at the time) was the newest table in the club.
Turn 4 I wiped the Tyranids off the board.
I lost 5 random marines and a single assault cannon off a landspeeder.
Without a doubt the most tactical game I had ever played. My opponent even thought the game was fun and "cinematic".
Though I have to say it wouldn't have gone so smoothly if he hadn't forgotten to move his gargoyles one turn.

2 come to mind as being pretty awesome. One for me and one for my opponent.
First was when my Swarmlord beat an Eldar Avatar in single combat. It was the big Forgeworld Avatar too. I could just imagine the two giants locked in combat, each filled with the rage and hunger of eternity. The death blow came as the Avatar gripped two of the Swarmlord's arms and the Swarmlord's two free arms swung in to skewer the Avatars abdomen. The Swarmlord then leans in and screams his triumph into the rage filled face of the Avatar.
Second one came during what my FLGS calls a "Parlay". 500 points, HQ's are the only thing starting on the board and they all start on the same tile. I take my Tervigon and max him out. I get Iron Arm, Warp Speed, and Leech Life as my Psyker powers. Then I roll the Feel No Pain Personal Warlord trait. Everyone else around me just can't believe my luck as my Tervigon becomes the biggest threat on the table. My friend next to me charges with his Necron Overlord and I fail MSS and deal 1 wound to myself. I have 5 left, big deal. My turn, I spawn Termigants, have them join combat so I can get some rerolls. I pass MSS so my opponent uses his Tesserach Labyrinth because he figured he was about to die. I need a 5 or less and I roll a 6. Everyone is the store just loses it as my Tervigon disappears from the table. I proclaim that that was "Bull" with a big smile on my face.

I had a deathwing Sergeant challenge a fully kitted out marshal, the duel lasted from turn 1 to turn 5, and I ended up winning the duel on turn 5, we both were surprised like no other. Needless to say he has a dire hatred of thunder hammers and terminator armor.

He got his revenge on me though when I got my game, 4 plasma devs all killed them selves turn 1.

My best moment so far is easily, the monet where a guarsman heavy weapon team took out a lone wolf in TDA with a mortar tube in close combat. The other player happened to be the local 'Hard mode' player also, which was double cool.

Shokk attack gun aims at a Warrior brood. Rolls double sixes for strength. Then proceeds to scatter. I slowly realise that I won't hit any warriors at all, and a huge sense of dissapointment starts to form up in my mind. Just to be on the safe side, I pick up the large blast marker and place it where it landed. Suddenly, I see that the edge of a base is just under the blast marker. My hopes begin to rise. Then I see: it is Draigo himself. The bastard that singelhandedly slaughterd most of my army in the last game. And now, he is gone. As the rest of my army drowns the enemy in boyz & gunz, me and my Big Mek both struggle to hold our laughs back as my, to say the least, puzzled opponent removes Draigo from the battlefield.
TL;DR: Cheap guy one-shot-kills expensive guy. Very funny.

The first time I abused dangerous terrain and squadron rules with my Russes.
Opponent: "Why do you keep running over difficult terrain?"
Me:"So I can do this" (rolls a 1) YEAH! 9 separate Russes now melonfether!"
Suddenly half their army disappears off the table in a massive barrage of separate squadron pieplates.
In another game I got karma'd when my stormtroopers deepstrike They land well with the re-roll. Bassies fire, scatter; direct hit on the Stormtroopers. 7 die, 3 survivors run off the table.

This goes way back to when I played IG. My kid brother had just started his CSM army. It was either our first or second game, I remember most of his stuff were really loyalist models pressed into service as their Chaos counterparts. We had 2000 point armies and the game was the multiple objectives one in 5th edition. As such, I broke up my two 50-man blobs of Guardsmen into ten-man squads and had them running all over the place supporting my tanks and whatnot.
At some point I diverted my Devildogs (I love this bloody tank) and a Chimera command squad along with a nearby group of footsloggers to deal with a Chaos Rhino trying to circumnavigate around the big gorefest in the centre of the board to get an objective with a winged Daemon Prince of Khorne rushing to the scene. So by the time the Daemon gets there the scoring threat of Rhino+troops was already dealt with and the vehicles zooming away, leaving the poor footsloggers, already whittled down by the Rhino's bolter to their fate. And what a fate.
They get to shoot, managing to put one wound on the Daemon. The Daemon then charges them and in the first turn of combat proceeds to kill all but one Pvt. Macias (I named each man and painted their names on their uniforms...it was a chore). Macias fails to do anything that turn but rolls for his morale test. From that point on the Daemon never again gets another wound on this man. Pvt. Macias then proceeds to beat the Daemon Prince to death with his lasgun over the rest of the game. This guy's aquilas were painted gold after that and he was elevated to being a Veteran. Best moment in all of 40k thus far.

1) Back in 5th edition: my opponent scout moves his Valkyrie flat out. My heavy mortar crew has no better target since most of his other stuff is in reserve, so why not take the shot? Roll scatter: direct hit. Roll to penetrate armor, needing a 6 to glance: . Roll for damage, . Valkyrie moved flat out, so it crashes and explodes. So yeah, that's right, my mortar shot down an incoming Valkyrie moving over 600 mph. We may only be BS 3, but we have the best artillery gunners in the galaxy!
2) I wish I could remember which character it was, but some space marine special character vs. my Hades drill. Drill attempts to tank shock, marine attempts to death or glory. The marine chooses death. A very, very messy death.
3) Various feats of close combat skill: veteran squad killing a SW terminator chaplain with a well-placed shotgun bash, company commander beating a Callidus assassin in the most one-sided duel ever...
4) Finally, it may not be the best single moment, but it's always a happy moment when my Medusa or LR Demolishers drop that beautiful STR 10 AP 2 pie plate on something expensive.

There's one memory I have from when I use to play back in the late 80's wihich would have been third ed.(?).
I was playing against an ork player with my BA & a small squad of Catchen. I had all but one of the IG figs behind a low hill and the fig was clear LoS from the orks so they other player using a splatta cannon aims at him.
Shot bounces once on the way over to my side landing infront of the single IG then.... proceeds to happily bounce all the way back towards the cannon. By the time the shot fizzled out just over a little over 50% of the ork army was wiped out or fled due to failing leadership from taking casualties.
So after the game we deemed the lone figure: Super-Catchen

Most recent game, first time playing 6th: My Grey Knights vs a rogue Grey Knight force. My Xenos Inquisitor and the only remaining member of the unit are about to be charged by two full units of Purifiers led by a heretical Malleus Inquisitor. First unit charges, Xenos overwatches with his Needle Pistol, hits on 6, kills a member of the unit. Justicar fires his Storm Bolter, hits with both shots and kills another, putting them out of charge range. Next unit to charge, again Xenos hits on overwatch* and kills the rogue Inquisitor, which again puts them out of charge range. A series of lucky dice rolls that almost indefinitely prevented them getting slaughtered.
*at this time we weren't aware that Overwatch can only be performed once per turn.

I loved the time when I had 5 assault terminators charge a squad of 10 sisters of battle, who had no power weapons... and after several turns, the sisters then graciously escorted my surviving terminators off the field as they fled in terror.
Lesson learned. Never mess with a sister of battle that time of the month... she's more than a match for a terminator in close combat.
