Ok so the 41st M comes along and our sun changes into a Red Giant. We already know for a fact that Mercury and Venus will 100% be absorbed into the Sun. Earth/Terra will be extremly close if not absored as well. So how does the 40k universe operate out of Earth since it would basicly be either destroyed or not habital because of the destruction of the Suns changes...that goes for Mars too. Just sitting here thinking while doing my home work....

Well, Mars is still inhabitated by the C'Tan thus he might break free once the planet is (nigh) destroyed...might be interesting.

Terra isn't orbiting Sol in 40k. It's located around a star vastly closer to the centre of the galaxy.

From what your telling me (or how I am reading it) is that it is either a 100% ficitonal place and just so happens to have some names of our planets or it is our solar system and they left Earth/Terra and moved to another planet and call it Earth/Terra. Either way it is going to be intresting to see what information we can delve up.

It's not going to happen as it's still millions of year away, but it would be gradual enough for there to be a mass exodus from the system and settle somewhere else or become fleet based

40k takes app. 40,000 years from now. The sun is expected to start expanding app. 5,000,000,000 years from now. Not really a concern until GW makes a Warhammer 5B game.

Ummm, No.

Terra is still orbiting Sol, it is still located in one of the outer arms of the Milky Way galaxy, it is not directly in the arm but on the edge of it.

Uh. No. The Sun isn't supposed to hit Red Giant for at least a couple million, if not a couple hundred million years. 40k is only 40,000 years in the future.

Yeah, I think that's closer. Humans will not exist when it happens, you can be sure of it.

I doubt anything will change in 40 thousand years.

I remember hearing somewhere they actually have found a way to keep the sun burning indefinitly. Something to do with using Warp energy to power it. I'm not sure about its credibility but there you have it.

pictures may have the spots "different" but you must realize a galaxy spins. Terra/Earth is in the same spot (give or take 50 feet) <- If you get the game reference ill you a digital cookie

Also. its been said already but its true, It'll be a few milion years before the sun runs outta gas and begins expanding and dieing. its only 40+ thousand years in the future and its still no where near empty.

Thats what I thought when I heard it.

Unless when humanity was colonizing planets, they came across many many planets deemed suitable for colonizations, but suns about to go Kapoot. So what did they do? Make them stable.

Thats a possable use. And maybe they figured they might as well fix stars that arn't close to exploding while at it.

I mean, if I was going around fixing stars why not get some extra cash for thinking ahead.

Idk the Imperium seems more likely to be destroying a star, probably for some bypass or some such, than fixing them. Not to say they wouldnt tho .

Trying to inject logic into a universe with psychic space elves, daemons and warmongering fungus is never going to end well.

I wonder what Mercury and Venus are used for in the Imperium?

I know Saturns moons, Jupiters moons, are used for various things but what about Pluto, Uranus and Neptune?

My guess is nothing. They might just be too close to the sun and not enough resources to be worth exploitation.

Im wandering what exactly is in the galactic core, i couldnt find much info and if you look at Engine of Wars map it looks a bit like a massive sun or something.
