Oz is one of those shows where you either like it, or its fething bland. The wife and I personally rather liked it, minus the last season, you could tell they REALLY ran out of steam, and ideas, and giving a gak But Id agree to it, I have them all on DVD and have watched it total, 3 times now over the years

I second Fringe, so long as you watch from the beginning and avoid spoilers.

Also My little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and no that is not a joke answer. You have to watch it to see why, give it about three episodes to see the real quality behind it, but for feths sake stay away from any other My Little Pony show out there, just the good stuff.

That outta do me for a while, I think my brother has Sons and Boardwalk Empire on DVD.

Regards Tru-Blood, I'm not really into Vampire stuff, Oh and I watched Homeland, I thought it was merely watchable, and by episode 8 it had descended into farce... Especially the last "perfectly willing to blow myself to smithereens but decide not to at the absolute perfect moment because daughter I hardly know and clearly don't like asks me not to"

Sons of Anarchy looks excellent. Also Rescue Me if you haven't watched that. Its a bit older.

+1 vote for Breaking Bad. I just started it recently and am on the second season. It's not amazing, but it's good.
West Wing is classic.
The Thick of It I presume you've already seen; if not, you'll love it.
It's not quite as profane, but there's an American show largely based off The Thick of It, called Veep. It's the chick from Seinfeld playing the Vice President. I'm no Seinfeld fan, so this was much better than I expected.
The original (British) The Inbetweeners.
Shameless.
House of Lies.
You've seen all the old Black Adder, right? Season Four is the best, of course, but they're all pretty classic.
For serious stuff, the HBO series In Treatment is really darn good.

Omadon's Realm

A little gem if you can find it on Channel 4's archive over there is Ultraviolet (not the gakky movie) a series about a MI5 styled organisation that battles 'code 5's'... made a while back but well worthwhile.

I really enjoy a comedy show over here in the states called 'Reno 911' about some inept police officers, it's fairly 2dimensional but does what it does well.

Archer is amazing.

I third (or fourth?) Archer.

Also, and this one is a few years old, but Dead Like Me was a great dark comedy about grim reapers kicking it in the Washington State/ Seattle area. It ran for two seasons and the biggest name attached to it was Mandy "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" Patinkin (who is absolutely excellent in the show). The lack of "stars" though did not hurt the show and nearly all of the actors in the series are convincing and outright good.

You have to go in knowing its a quirky, odd setting but if you just run with it you'll likely find yourself laughing quite a bit. Especially since you seem to have gallows humor. This show is all about gallows humor.

Doctor Who (modern series are excellent, though I think they got kinda lackluster after Moffat took the helm)
Star Trek
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Battlestar Galactica (modern series are excellent)

Fringe is pretty great, especially if you liked X-Files
I've also heard good things about Warehouse 13, same deal
Eureka
Sherlock

Y'know, I think I might like Supernatural, but the show's fans horrify me... Game of Thrones is class - I reckon you'd really like it, mate.

Also:

Breaking Bad - (I've got seasons 1-3, so I can lend you them)
Southland - Mega, absolutely mega. I have seasons 1 and 2.
Spooks - It's not awesome, but on the plus side it's watchable and there are around 9 series' of the fether!
Dexter - the first few series are great, but it kind of trails off.

My ultimate suggestion, however, is The Thick of It. Probably the best British TV show of all time, I reckon. It's hilarious and dramatic, plus it's incredibly sweary, which I know you'll enjoy.

Here's some of the main protagonists best bits - CAUTION: VERY NSFW:

Hoofing - class, mint, splendid, gucci, waz, proper good. By the way....

I've got gak loads to watch now mind, I haven't heard of half of these suggestions. Trailer park boys?!

I've added Generation Kill, Breaking Bad, Southland to the eventually watch list though.

I've seen clips of Archer and it doesn't look very funny, I'm hard to please with comedy.

Although, I hated The universally acclaimed "The Office", but I still enjoy "Everybody loves Raymond" strangely... go figure that one out.
