No one has pledged for the skirmish host yet but I reckon we'll see a load of pledges at that level as the various hosts are revealed. All my purchases so far have been Tarvax stuff but I want some trolls, can't wait to see the Norse skirmish as I think that'll be my best option (depending on what's included I might just go for sweet spot + additions, or maybe I'll just stick with Darklands & Uhtred + addons) It's hard to see where best to put my money until all the options are visible, for now I'm keeping my £30+ pledge.

That's a little misleading because you can add a Skirmish Host to another pledge eg I have pledged Sweet Spot and am adding the Ysian Skirmish Host to that.

It's a matter of limited finance though. Theoretically I could put 2 grand in the KS and not have a concern about what is to come as I'd be getting it all, but like everyone else my hobby budget is finite so I prefer to keep the £30 pledge for now, which is limited in supply (the £5 discount version) and includes freebies, and wait to see if I should switch when I have all the information.

My reply was not about your personal situation, but about the lack of skirmish host pledges in general not being a good indicator of pledging behaviour

Oh yeah I see, so there could be plenty of people who've added / will add for skirmish w/o actually pledging that specific level.

I'd be interested to hear your opinions on them too...

In a word, amazing. The Duguth infantry (elite grunts) look like they really have just stepped out of the dark ages. No huge hands or outsized faces - proportions are spot on and the detail is brilliant. Check this out for a comparison (he's missing his shield):

I think I'm going to commit to getting a small playable force, something I really had no intention of doing a while back.

But it is so different to any other game I currently play (everything is in the Sci Fi spectrum at the moment) and the models are almost uniformly gorgeous that they really deserve to be showcased en masse, rather than picked up piecemeal and shoe horned into another game, or just in isolation to paint because I can't resist them.

Can't decide on a faction just yet though, but I've got a little bit of a crush on Leofwen, so it looks like I'm Angelcynn bound.

Sorcerer's unlocked!

@azrael13 It's hard to go wrong honestly. I loved the basic troops enough that I'm in to the Angelcynn for them alone, but I'm curious to see where they take the the wolf thing beyond really big wolves.

In other news, a turned a year older today, which has pushed me past the threshold that would have allowed me to figure out how the hell my signature works, so gaze upon part of an image with no links...

Guys,
It's not a coupon code, nor is it a voucher code. We're well aware of Kickstarter's policies!

After the Kickstarter ends, Kickstarter backers will manage their pledge on our website (in a special category only available to them) that lists all of the items on the current Kickstarter (at the prices listed), and also most if not all of the items already released by ourselves, at 20% off rrp. Kickstarter backers do not get a coupon or voucher, they just gain access to those items.

It's likely this Kickstarter category will stay open for Kickstarter items until they are released, and for those already released items for a month, so whilst more than one order could be made for those the time you have to order them is limited.

Hope that helps your planning guys.

Cheers

Wow! This is awesome!

First off, are any of the bane beasts/lords available to purchase at that time as well? I've had my eye on that first hydra that was made, but haven't gotten around to picking it up.

Also, will models from the first KS which are still I being sculpted be available as well?

Lastly, if we purchased malacant, and wanted him delivered in Dec, can we have any of these already finished models sent with him to save on shipping?

Thanks!

Skullking -

The BaneBeasts/BaneLords will be in there.

Miniatures from Kickstarter I that have not yet been released will be in there, but only at RRP-20%; not at the prices Kickstarter I backers got them at I'm afraid.

Regarding Malacant, yes indeed - there will be a "ship stuff early" item that you can purchase which would mean you can get what's released sent in December.

Hope that helps!

Not sure how you could have helped more than that!

Update - Byzantii Legionnaires teaser!

Apologies for not being on here much today, but it doesn't like I've needed to be! Wow! £80k! I didn't expect that today. Awesome work and thank you to all the new backers! Thanks guys. It obviously means all the sorcerers will be produced now!! I hope you're happy JL...

That obviously means a new stretch goal is due, but I won't be able to do much in terms of updates and such until Monday. That's what kids and dogs do to your spare time! However, I can tell you that this is how it's going to pan out...

£100,000 - Monstrous Commanders of course

£105,000 - Djiuzu, Dromedus Secundus - http://www.mierce-miniatures.com/ks2/djiuzu_dromedus.jpg . He's a Byzantii Dromedus, a camel-man if you will, who serves as part of the Auxilia Bestiarii. He will be similar to Mag ap Mag to purchase - free to anybody who has pledged for nobles, £20 for anybody who has a Darklands pledge and £25 to anybody else.

£110,000 - Legionary Contubernium - Decanus (leader) and four Milites (soldiers), two of which are female. These will be sold as a contubernium (decanus and seven milites, randomly picked from the four) which will cost £50, or as two contubernia, which will cost £95. There'll be no banner bearers or heralds in a contubernium, those positions were separate from the eight-men sections - part of the century

Artwork for the contubernium will be shown when we hit £85k hopefully, although they may still be roughs at that point... but roughs will be good enough to show you what's going on ;o) The artist assures me they'll be done for Monday, so rather than substitute for another (probably less popular) unit, I'm going Byzantii early!

So I hope that pleases you all ;o)

And just posted - very early rough concept:

I think the horns add a bit of character but as it's a very early work in progress sketch I'm sure things are subject to change.

It's such an odd and fairly unique (at least in my experience) looking concept for a tabletop mini that I'm intrigued by it anyway!

I do (hypocritically!) think that the scaly looking talons are a bit strange looking for the same reasons you would drop the horns, looks a bit odd on what i'd consider a 'camel man'

Apparently he's demon touched (Byzantii traffic with demons) hence he horns, spikes and scales

I'm almost certain to get him anyway coz he's cool

The reasoning behind the scaly skin (and presumably the horns, though the questioner only asked about the skin) is, to quote Mierce "because he's been touched by the Infernii."

Ex-Mantic Rules Committees: Kings of War, Warpath
"The Emperor is obviously not a dictator, he's a couch."
Starbuck: "Why can't we use the starboard launch bays?"
Engineer: "Because it's a gift shop!"

Woah.. almost reached the number of backers in KS 1 so far not bad. Wish BeastsofWar would cover them. As they are moving to Nottingham soon (Which is apparently the lead belt) would be an awesome beginning?

A nice little hint that the Albainn will be amongst the first to get their monsterous infantry if the KS goes high enough (we've got to unlock all the normal infantry first)

Mierce
"@Orlando - Oghurithne would be fairly high up the list, the Albainn need the monstrous infantry more than some ;o)"

so get pledging people

In a vain effort to extract some info out of Mierce (or anyone else who is privy to more info than me)

Since I've mentally committed to assembling a small playable force but haven't decided on faction, rather than picking up the odd model I like, if I were to want to collect a force where this..

was the key image for the infantry (ie Celtic/Pictish/Gaelic warrior maidens, not the Melusines)

Would I be disappointed, and if I wasn't going to be disappointed, where in the British Isles might such a force containing these troops be from?

You can't turn around in the UK without running in to a woad covered Kiera Knightley, so it's hard to say.
I'd guess Albainn or the Irish though if Mierce has plans for more all female units.

Ah, if only that were true!

I'm kinda half hoping Angelcynn as I'm already in for Leofwen on Hart from KS1, but I've been a real magpie with what I've bought, so I'm not too invested in any given direction. But then, I'm not super mad keen on the werewolf motif they're rocking, so wouldn't be worried if they were a different faction.

I feel I should also mention that this isn't motivated by "hurr, boobies, hurr" but by a genuine desire to build and paint something with a totally different aesthetic to anything else I have played or currently play.

Problem is now I have a very clear idea of what I want to do, I'm going to struggle if the plans aren't in place for me to do it,

Yeah, I'm guessing it would be with the Eirann as well, whenever they get fleshed out.

Ottery St. Mary must not be the hot bed of half naked super model warrioresses that it was when I lived in Devon.

I'd like to see something in this vein as well. Confrontation Drune Lanyffs never lived up to their potential as minis (unless you were looking for moon headed stick figures).

Ottery St Mary may well be still, I daren't venture that deep into the hinterlands as I'm only technically a half breed (mother is from yonder) and I might not make it back!

I'm torn. I really like the Byzantii background & infantry, but all three of the demons we've seen look like different sized versions of the same guy, which is a bit of a disappointment.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

If you look at the Byzantii female commander's thigh you will see a helmet in the shape of Krull's and the others head. I think this style of daemon is just the one the Byzantii have made their pact with.....personally a succubus would not go a miss ;-)

£105,000 Stretch Goal - Djiuzu, Dromedus Secundus
1 comment

It's incredible! After an awesome weekend of pledging we've now reached £80,000 for the project, which unlocks the Sorcerers of course, and so we are very happy bunnies indeed here at Mierce Towers.

So let's do some celebrating with you again by bringing you another stretch goal for £105,000 and the awesomeness that is Djiuzu, another monstrous commander for the Byzantii and a Dromedus (a mix of man, camel and daemon) of the Auxilia Bestiarii.

Click on this link for a larger version of the above image

Unfortunately Christophe did not quite have enough time to finish Djiuzu as he would want, but when he is complete we will of course update the above graphics. Until then, enjoy what you have - and let's hope we get to £85,000 quickly, too, because we have a superb update for you all when we do...
