I think they have really nailed the combination of intriguing setting and great miniatures. Haven't tried the rules yet, but looking forward to it!
Here's another shot showing Mjagnir's sheer size:

These are Rackham's Son's of Ogmios (it was me who mentioned them, I don't think Mierce have)
If they look as dynamic or anything like this, I will go ape for them. I love how animated they are, and look how a rampaging murderous bloodthirsty Ogre should, not fatties half-heartedly walking forward holding weapons.

Their sculptor, Yannick Fusier, has done stuff for Mierce before (at least Shaaroc the Reviled), but I don't know if he's doing work for them now. Automatically Appended Next Post: I believe he also did the Titan Dragon of Aarklash I showed off next to Krull above.... *hint hint Mierce*

Bagseg is an example of how the Oghurithne will look, but we'd have to get a fair bit of cash - over £200k in this Kickstarter - to get the Oghurithne unit done. So get pledging, everyone ;o)

@Alpharius: No worries! I'd uploaded the images last night but hadn't had a chance to stick the [ img ] tags in that would let me post them here. I'm glad to be helpful, and I still stand by my opinion that these are the best miniatures currently being produced.
To any of you who are on the fence about getting in on their Kickstarter and want pictures of anything in their existing line, or have questions, or just need reassurance about things, drop me a PM and I'm happy to talk about it!

Awesome to know. Hopefully we can get to 200k!
Real quick question: the gigantic runestones/lodestones all of the Oghurithne and Albainn are carrying on their backs, what are they for? I feel like I read it before on the mierce site, but I went scouring for it and can no longer find it!

@Cincydooley: I seem to recall them providing protection or resistance against magic. Urbad's gives him 5 Will Dice (from what I remember, like Parry Dice from Armor, but towards magic) with a Will range of 10".
Also, his mattock's special rule is "Breaking Urbad", which is worth it just for the pun (and its ability to destroy Sorcerous armor, which I assume will be more prevalent in the full game).

In general I think some of darklands stuff looks nice...the price point just seems insane...I mean they are charging GW level prices and trying to claim its a discount over what RRP will be. I highly doubt any retailers will carry the models with those price points successfully. It really seems to be pricing themselves out of the market except for some extremely niche collectors.
Sorry but about $140 for 16 Byzantium normal sized models is crazy expensive. Thats more than people pay for GW which is also crazily priced anymore.
At those price points for discounted minis I honestly I have no interest in the system.

The way I view it is thusly:
Mierce Miniatures makes the highest quality miniatures on the planet. In order to pay the artists, the sculptors, and to hand-cast each miniature, you pay a premium.
Citadel Miniatures make a range of mediocre-to-high-quality miniatures that are, as you put it, crazily priced.
Fortunately, many retailers already do carry the range of models. They are quite popular simply because they are the best.
I buy them because I already have piles of mediocre miniatures. I don't need to spend any more money on more mediocre minis.

Well, I think you're wrong, and here's why:
1. The miniatures are firstly intended for their system. This is especially true for their infantry. The game is a skirmish game, and as such requires FAR less models than any GW game. Those 16 Byzantium infantry models are going to run you around 500 points in game, or 1/4 points of the "normal sized" 2000 point game. Further, a 5 man strong unit of monstrous infantry is going to run you nearly the same amount of points. Boom. That's half your army right there. Throw in some leaders and a Monster or Two, and getting to 2000 points is easy.
2. You clearly haven't seen or handled any of the models in person. You're absolutely getting what you pay for. I've only handled models from 4ish kindreds, but I can tell you, unequivocally, that they're leaps and bound better than any comprable GW model. And it isn't even close.
3. The War Store Sells the models.

...Yeah, but the price of the infantry units is, for what is still rank-and-file 28mm stuff, really pretty damn steep. Paying $140 for a couple of infantrymen is tough to swallow. The monster units are a much easier sell (at least those are centrepieces of their own, and we're used to paying through the nose for such models even if of much lesser quality). It's just one of those things games at this scale suffer from: not enough models to go for cheap, (somewhat) repetitive infantry but still too many models to really go to town on each individual infantryman. Keep in mind this is just something fun on the side for many of us - and most of us aren't really used to seeing that kind of price tag on units of infantry. I'll probably be crazy enough to get a small infantry unit if the Khthones inf looks anything like that foot general (or was it sorc?) concept they put out, if they ever get to it, but getting a decent amount of those is out of the question. I see *your* point, but it's a tough sell for many of us ...And in unrelated matters, I'd really like to damn well get my hands on some actual darklands stuff right about now... Still no word about those bloody Khthones actually shipping. blegh I don't suppose I'll have anything "in hand" before KS2 ends, sadly - which probably means me holding back on the spending in this one. By the way, are any Khthones models already shipping, aside from KS rewards?

I'm sure I'll be shot down for such a blasphemous thought, but I can't help but think how cool it would be to get Mierce stuff done in plastic.
Then again I don't know how much that would actually help bring the prices down considering the size/ detail of some of the pieces.
The price has been a hindrance in getting other people interested. Regardless I will slowly continue to piecemeal a warhost together.

Highlord,
There is absolutely no way we could afford to do plastics, even if we wanted to do them - which we don't.
The price may well be a hindrance for many, I freely admit that; but if we didn't charge those prices, we couldn't make these miniatures.
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for, as Doug and cincydooley state. If you don't want to pay these prices, that's entirely up to you. Automatically Appended Next Post: I would like to add, of course, that there's loads of savings on the current Kickstarter - "The Sweet Spot" reward being one, in many cases over 50% off rrp.

Doug, she looks awesome of course, but It's not really about the quality - it's about control. We produce everything ourselves in resin; we couldn't do that with plastic.
We're happy with resin for the foreseeable future. If that means we stay small, then we stay small.
We have quite a devoted following at the moment, for which I am very grateful, and we are not about to do a Rackham.

Let me second this: the sweet spot reward level is an insane deal. Full playable war host. Mounted commanders. Rules Danillo. Wowzers.
Team, let me apologize for not doing a nice review of these models when I got the first of my KS stuff. I was so eager to build I didn't take nearly enoug pictures to do a decent review. I have a few more bits and bobs coming and will make sure to do one then.

Part of the reason that Mierce runs such a very good Kickstarter is that they have control over the process. They make their goals because they control the flow of things. Is it expensive - that depends on your outlook. I have a number of them waiting for me at home to paint. I haven't put them together and I am in on KS2. They are beautiful models, its a good supportive community and totally worth it.
Could they make it cheaper by using plastics and mass producing them - maybe. This would also lead to huge lead times and somehow a loss of quality somewhere. I am not willing to make the "Plastic Plunge" and more then likely neither are they. Most of the Miercites (new word?) are in it for the look of the models and not the game play (though admittedly the game play is good), so I think people need to have a foot in both camps - Rules, Miniatures to fully appreciate what they have to offer. I think its a testimony to the way they run their kickstarers that most of the people are back and oddly we are still getting updates for KS1 during KS2.
Good customer service, they do what they say they are going to do and when something goes wrong - they make it right. I have seen this occur first hand.

I can say that I too had trouble thinking about paying Mierce prices for the 'human' sized figures... The big and monstrous was where my focus lay
but once I had a few in hand (part of my KS1 bundles) that hesitation went away, the minis were that good
(and I've even picked up a few doubles just to paint differently)
the Gabrax (beastmen) are outstanding, as are pieces like Mawdred of Carn Dhu, Krann and Eiric the Norse Steersman
And I'll be picking up a bunch more based on the concept art shown for KS2, I'm that confident they will be great (or better)
