The beasties are great. I just want to play the game as well as paint awesome miniatures. I just unfortunately like to paint the awesome looking speedbumps for this game.

Update #53

Apr 22 2014
YOU decide what will be the £125,000 Stretch Goal!

As we're nothing if not concerned with what backers want (and definitely not because we're stumped as to what to put up next, oh no), we've decided to let you guys decide on what the £125,000 stretch goal should be on this project.

All you have to do is head on over to the Mierce Miniatures Forums and vote!
PLEASE NOTE, THIS POLL WILL BE LOCKED WHEN THE PROJECT TOTAL IS £110,000!

So vote quickly!
ALBAINN - Gudhlagg, Oghur Uhmaer

Gudhlagg is an Oghur commander and will be 50-55mm to the eye, standing on a 60mm base. He will be a Wild Warchief with an Ubiquity of Rare.
BRYTHONIAID - Geraint Nerthol, Teyrn of Cedweli on Ceffyldraig

Here's a diversion for you - Geraint Nerthol riding a mighty horse-dragon (Ceffyldraig) into battle! Geraint is a Teyrn of course, a warlord, and his Ceffyldraig is a beast standing on an 80mm base and around 40-50mm to the shoulders.
BYZANTII - Tri IV Acteon, Auxilia Bestiarii Tribum

A unit of Auxilia Bestiarii, the better to control your Byzantii beasts such as Ulmons or Tykho (in a similar way to the Goad-Drunes of the Ysians). These guys - Uncommon, Drilled infantry - stand on 30mm bases and will be around 30mm tall to the eye.
FOMORAIC - Gaanh, Walvax Gultain

Gaanh is the first of the Fomoraic Walvax, or walrus-men, 'orrible nasties at home on land as well as in the cold seas. Gaanh will stand at around 50mm to the eye and on a 60mm base, and will be a Wild Warchief with an Ubiquity of Uncommon.
KHTHONES - Ignilak, Zalamandra

Zalamandra are particularly nasty lizards, heavily armoured and able to spit gobbets of fire upon their enemies. Zalamandra are Rare, Wild monstrous beasts able to be taken in units of 1-3 and stand on 60mm bases, being around 40mm tall to the eye.

You can purchase one Ignilak.
NORSE - Stígr, Felljötunn

Felljötunn are hill giants, related to the mighty Jötunn but smaller and less brutal. Even so, they are still formidable opponents, well able to turn the tide of battle!

Felljötunn will be armed with hammers and wear light armour. They will stand on 80mm bases and will be around 80mm to the eye. They will be Wild Monstrous Beasts, able to be taken in units of 1-3.
YSIANS - Hedroc of Carn Maen, Battle-Drune on Hound-Horse

Hedroc is an Ysian Battle-Drune and he likes to ride a Hound-Horse into battle! The Hound-Horse will stand on an 80mm base and be around 40-45mm to his shoulders.

Those are your options... choose wisely!

The whole vote closes at £110K is likely a type as we're already at £111K...

Yeah, it's closing at £115K, iirc from comments earlier in the day.

I hear ya!

Even the 'speedbumps' in this game are fantastic looking miniatures!

And during this Kickstarter, you can get 5 plus a 'free' character for a bunch of Kindreds, so 6 figs total, for £28 - about $47US or $8 each!

It locks at 115k from the actual poll thread.

I can't recall seeing any size mentioned, there's certainly nothing in Update #5 from when he was added. Though if it was mentioned in the comments then it's easy to miss something with how active they are at times.

I think I'll end up getting Mappie before he ships out. He'll look good with all my other draigs.

The regular dudes are also easier to proxy if you're just starting out in the system or on a budget. Its why I initially mostly went with the big monsters.

Agreed, and the price gets a little crazy if you want all Mierce infantry... whereas the monsters are something you usually just want one of.

The price already approaches crazy if you go full monstrous, but yeah, guess this game is designed to showcase gribblies. I've fired a question to Mierce about their plans for infantry and they mentioned plastics, so cheap speedbumps will appear at some point.

Well, that doesn't seem to be soon with all the many infantry that are being cast in resin (and sculpted for such, since plastic requires a lot more consideration in sculpting to avoid under cuts).

They seem to have a never ending pipeline of models they'd like to produce, I can't see them making them plastic... at least not anytime soon! Would love to be wrong, of course...

At the risk of getting people excited top early though, "at some point" is most likely still YEARS away in terms of plastic...anything.

Mierce is a kind of a niche within a niche - it is expensive, but certainly isn't hiding that.

The quality justifies it, at least for me.

I was told 2015 as a delivery date. So kickstarter 6 or something. I'm not debating price again. Suffice to say I've now said several times I've backed the previous two kickstarters so I'm clearly buying, I just wanted to be able to play the game a certain way which I doubt I can do so I'm out until I can do otherwise. I don't have any other projects that would accommodate Mierce miniatures for proxy purposes, and I wanted to play Darklands. I'm just the weirdo who finds humans more appealing than the monsters.

There actually does seem to be a fair amount of Price Debate going on, actually.

I suppose it is unavoidable, if not slightly off topic.

In terms of price my gaming group are put off. I'm just a sucker. I don't think the game wants to go much higher than 500, maybe 750 gold as a standard size. Give it some tight competitive rules and make it a classy skirmish and I think it will have plenty of buyers.

Getting put off by price and Mierce Miniatures aren't two things that are going to go well together...

Though at the quality offered here, the prices aren't bad at all.

I've issues with the way she's sat atop the horse, which I've mentioned in the KS comments, but if you think she looks out of place as an Irish/Celtic woman in a fantasy setting, I suggest you're not overly familiar with the trope...
Spoiler:

As for the type of horse? Yeah, aesthetically a slightly finer boned Arabian, Lipizzaner or Thoroughbred would suit more appropriately, but those breeds are all either hopelessly anachronistic to the setting, or possibly geographically for Arabs, I'm not sure when they originated as a breed.

Personally, I'd just like her positioned in a way that suggested she was actually riding a living, breathing animal, rather than just glued into the saddle!

But that is just it, Darklands/Baneland etcetera is the Grimdark version of high fantasy imagination of Celtic lore for that she looks out of place, i expected more a Celtic Vasquez "Let's Rock!"

Project Update #54: £125,000 - Geraint Nerthol, Teyrn of Cedweli on Ceffyldraig
Posted by Mierce Miniatures ♥ Like
Our our £125,000 Stretch Goal Vote was another cracking success - over 100 of you took part and, when £115,000 was reached, decided that the next stretch goal would be Geraint Nerthol riding his mighty horse-dragon!

The Brythoniaid Teyrn Geraint Nerthol ("Mighty Geraint") is, of course, an old friend of ours, a warlord, and his mounted version rides a huge horse-dragon, a Ceffyldraig (ke-FUL-drayg). Ceffyldraig are Ardent Mounts and will stand on an 80mm base, being around 40-50mm tall to the shoulders.

Project Update #55: YOU decide what will be the £130,000 Stretch Goal!
Posted by Mierce Miniatures ♥ Like
As we're nothing if not concerned with what backers want (and definitely not because we're stumped as to what to put up next, oh no), we've decided to let you guys decide on what the next Unit stretch goal should be on this project.
All you have to do is head on over to the Mierce Miniatures Forums and vote!
PLEASE NOTE, THIS POLL WILL BE LOCKED WHEN THE PROJECT TOTAL IS £120,000!
So vote quickly!
ANGELCYNN - Youths of Mierce, Geoguth Unit

Geoguth are, literally, "young warriors" and are professional - if rather headstrong and inexperienced - warriors in Angelcynn hosts. Armed with spear, shield and leather armour, Geoguth are Common, Drilled infantry and stand on 30mm bases, being 30mm tall to the eye.
You can purchase the unit in three forms - 5x Warriors with full command; 10x Warriors with full command; 5x Warriors.
BRYTHONIAID - Dynwocoriau of Powys, Dynwocor Unit

The second monstrous infantry unit for the Brythoniaid, Dynwocor are half-man, half-wocor; bizarre, savage creatures with a penchant for shrieking very loudly. Dynwocor wield double-handed blades and are Uncommon, Wild monstrous infantry, standing on 50mm bases and being around 45-50mm tall to the eye.
You can purchase the unit as 5x Warriors with full command.

FOMORAIC - Grunting Mallax, Mallax Unit

More hairies for the Fomoraic! Mallax are sloth-men, lumbering perhaps but ideally suited for defensive battles with their long glaives, heavy armour and big shields. Mallax are Uncommon, Wild monstrous infantry and stand on 60mm bases, being around 50mm tall to the eye.
You can purchase the unit as 5x Warriors with champion, banner bearer and three warriors.
KHTHONES - Warriors of Ýdron, Hydrar Unit

The Hydrar form a particularly savage and brutal arm of the Khthones once-slave hosts, with three heads and sinewy snake-like bodies able to dish out a lot of attacks. Armed with half-plate armour and wielding two khineblades, the Hydrar are a particularly nasty foe to face! Hydrar are Uncommon, Feral monstrous infantry and stand on 60mm bases, being around 50mm tall to the eye.
With one warrior sculpted already - Hirakoth, the champion - you can either purchase all of the Hydrar or the remaining four warriors!
You can purchase the unit as 5x Warriors with full command.
NORSE - Trolls of the North, Troll Unit
You actually get two units for the price of one, here... with three new Trolls and two amendments to Vörtun, you can get a unit of Trolls with double-handers and a unit of Trolls with two hand weapons!

There would, of course, be an option to purchase the three new Trolls and Vörtun amendments separately to the full units.
You can purchase either unit as 5x Warriors with champion, banner bearer and three warriors.
VRAS - No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit

No-Claw's Burrow is our first infantry unit for the Vras, rodenty allies of the Ysians. Spear-Vras are armed with blade-spears, light armour and shields, as well as an annoying ratty nature. They are Common, Trained infantry, standing on 30mm bases and being around 30mm to the eye.
You can purchase the unit as 5x Warriors with champion and four warriors or 10x Warriors with champion and nine warriors.
Quick-Blade (the banner bearer), of course, has already been sculpted, and you'll have the option to purchase the four new Spear-Vras separately too. Note that Benoît Cosse will no doubt sculpt the rest of the unit.
YSIANS - Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit

They've been around for a while so it's only fair to give you the option to get these guys! Shadows of Carn Bran are Shadow-Drunes, scout infantry that like to have a good sneak around the battlefield. Armed with two daggers, not much armour and a good deal of skill, the Ysians will definitely have an advantage when they field these guys. Shadow-Drunes are Uncommon, Drilled infantry, standing on 30mm bases and being around 30mm to the eye.
You can purchase the unit as 5x Warriors with champion and four warriors or 10x Warriors with champion and nine warriors.
Well, those are your options... choose wisely!

Project Update #57: £130,000 - Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit
Posted by Mierce Miniatures ♥ Like
The £130,000 Stretch Goal Vote has ensured that the Shadows of Carn Bran, by a big margin, are our next Unit Stretch Goal!

The Shadows of Carn Bran are the very first scout infantry in Darklands and are, of course, Ysian.
Shadow-Drunes will stand on 30mm bases and will be around 30mm to the eye. They are Uncommon, Drilled Scout infantry equipped with two daggers and a teensy bit of armour, and can be taken in units of 5-10.
They are NOT in "ALL THE UNITS"

Please note, the Shadows of Carn Bran are NOT part of the "ALL THE UNITS" pledge; you must increase your pledge further if you wish to purchase them.

Project Update #58: £122,500 - Umaer Drast
Posted by Mierce Miniatures ♥ Like
There's just a few hours to go, so here's something to aim for... Umaer Drast!

Umaer Drast is free to anybody who has purchased the Spears of Dun Durn, Gairlom Unit (whichever way you've bought it). Otherwise, he's £15 regardless of your reward!
Additionally, he's a project exclusive; he will never, ever be released to the general public, although we do reserve the right to produce him for sale at shows and events. Please note, the free Umaer Drast is limited to one per backer, but of course you can purchase additional Umaer Drast miniatures within this project.
No Exchanges!
Note that we will not exchange Umaer Drast for any other miniature, so please don't ask! He is tied to his unit. The reason for doing this is simple - logistically it's a nightmare to exchange miniatures and will lead to errors when we get to packing your orders. Of course, we are very sure that other backers will help out with exchanges, and our forums are the perfect place to do so!

BRYTHONIAID - Grachdu, Tâncawrdraig

A mighty Cawrdraig or ogre-dragon for the Brythoniaid! Grachdu is a banner bearer, a fire-ogre-dragon, although there will be an option on the sculpt to turn him into a warrior.
