So I just finished moving in a few days ago, and finally got around to unpacking my hobby nightmare. Luckily now I have more room than I've ever had for it.

Now while it isn't finished of course, the general idea is there.

A shot of the whole ordeal:

The main work area:

Overflow and misc area:

And my collection of chemicals, rubbers, resins, additives, basing material etc:

So Dakka, since it's been a while, let's see your hobby areas!!!

I love how it's obviously a nice, bright day, but you have the shade down and a daylight bulb on.

lmao

That window faces the sun all afternoon, so the heat in that spot is horrendous with the blinds open. I also have my computer against the same wall, so that much light makes it impossible to see my computer.

I much prefer controlled lighting to natural light.

This is my NEw Space i set up 2 weeks ago. I used to paint/work at my laptop, so it old get bad, Paint and glue and stuff. So i got this. And its a swivel chair away, I can work with my laptop on my desk a few feet away, then swivel, pull out the work part, then paint or work, and still watch videos.
Not fany like yours, but it works.

That reminds me of back when I was 17 and had to share my room with my brother. The only space I had for painting was my own night stand with my lamp on it.

It took me 10 more years before I got as much room as I have now, hopefully in 10 more I'll have an entire room for it!

We've all been there. Some of us were there yesterday...

Why own a lightsaber if you don't flail it around every now and then? Or chase the cat with it?

Cluttered? That looks like a dream for me. You have so much open desk space!

I guess the clutter doesn't seem so bad when you can't see the other desk that's buried under around 2 feet of junk out of picture. Other problems are that my space is in my basement, with no windows. And spends the whole year hovering around 50-60 degrees F. Nice in the summer, but does cut down my work in the winter.

But compared to people painting on nightstands, I have a decadently huge amount of space. One of the perks of home ownership. The massive check I cut to the mortgage company is worth something at least...

And now that I've realized how cluttered my brand new desk was, I went out and bought a shelf for the Misc area to open up some space on the table and to allow me to have units displayed.

lol. The house we moved into had some squeaky hinges that needed it.

Normally I keep it on hand for my bass drum pedal as I can't stand it when the thing squeaks.

I didn't have anywhere else to put it so I added it to my chemical selection.

Fair enough point.

So here is a good brainstorming questionn. I have about 50-60 more pots and droppers of paints. I'm trying to think of a way to use the peg board behind the desk to store them.....

I'd say get one of those drill bits made for cutting holes for things like door knobs. Get one about the right size for droppers and just expand the holes already on the board with it.

Or get pegboard shelves, those would be easier.

This thread makes me sad. I had to move into an apartment about a year and a half ago and had to give up my man cave as my wife referred to it and now have almost nothing in the way of room to paint. I usually have to sit on our floor in the bedroom to paint........ it sucks.

I like your paint carousel. You build that yourself or pick it up somewhere?

What are those flat things that have your stuff on top? They look familiar.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Well showing my desk right now is pretty useless as the only stuff on it is my desktop, laptop, ipad, and homework. (I like electronics)

There is a drawer that holds my paints, glues, brushes, few tools, and cutting mat when not in use. Everything else gets organized on this shelf

Each drawer is specific to an army or game. Bitz are half still on sprue, half organized into smaller containers. It all depends how much remains on the sprue.

Carousel was built yes, as was the paint station, so was the desk itself, heck, we built the house we live in as well! (The joys of having a carpenter/joiner in the family )

Our university had a poster sale, got the dalek and a Top Gear poster to bling out the walls!
