this thread reads like a rollercoaster

Looking at the Land Raider in particular, I certainly wouldn't buy anything from him. The paintjob is 5/10 at best, the paint is thick in places with little attention to detail. Heck, the guy hasn't even got rid of the mould lines in places. Certainly not worth $140.

I know of another Ebay seller that has M.S. that lived in the Chatt area, and I met him in person. I do not know if he is alive or dead, but I do know that thats not the same ebay seller name since I have the other guys as a saved seller to look at what he was selling a while back. His name is/was modelrama. His last sell was on 15 Oct 2012. Is there a way to look at items sold on ebay so I can see more of his work and more of modelrama's?

This is what I do know - i did some local checking since this is a small community and I live in the same area. There have been problems in the past with some sales with Mr. Waters, and it is supposedly true that he does/did have M.S., but skeptical. The work that Hybren does is similar to the work of modelrama's, but it may or may not be him since there is not enough of modelrama's stuff up ATM. I remember his work though easily. One location is Chattanooga Tn and the other is Cohulta Ga. Pretty close to each other. I know for a fact 100% that I have spoken to Mr. Waters back in 2008 at the siege because I was intrigued by his work. I then found his work on eBay under modelrama's Handel. I verified that he was present at this event and that it was the gentleman with M.S. I spoke with. Mr. Waters work is good very good, but I would not deal with him. Is modelrama the same as Hybren? My gut says yes, based off of my sources, the reason I saved modelrama's Handel on eBay, and the proximity of locations, and modelrama has used eBay as another user - started with a C I think...don't feel like looking again.

As far as him alive or dead I do not know this information, and I hope him the best of health.

Okay. Gets stranger. I responded to dads email last night... "...sorry for your loss...blah blah blah...." Was very sympathetic but finished with "...I have 60 minis of mine there...can you find them and send them to me? Here is a pic of what they should look like..."

This morning paypal (paypal has been waiting for sellers response to claim of nonreceipt, even though I called them about the guy dying), emails me " seller added tracking information ... ups...tracking # kkk."

Calling paypal again...

Could well be someone taking the feth -- or his Dad, who you emailed, has access to his son's PC, and with that the shipping info, and sent you your stuff.

No. The complete tracking added on paypal is KKK that is all....

That is why this is getting stranger and more suspicious.

...well even paypal CS workers ought to be sufficiently sentient to figure out that's probably baloney shouldn't be long before they rule in your favour, I'd say?

As long as you get your money back at least you get it back. Call the funeral home if you want to verify his death. Find that number yourseflf via google and don't use the number given to you by the seller or obituary if you question this part. Everyone assumes the worst out of someone, but this might actually be true...you never know until you make the call.

which is precisely what the linked article says if I'm not mistaken. I'm really, really inclined to believe the death isn't faked or anything - or he'd have to have inserted an obit, complete with a reasonably long tribute wall populated with posts by people with at times quite diverse writing styles and whatnot, onto the website of this funeral home. Okay, now if he happened to be sole proprietor of that funeral home he might just pull it off, but you're getting into deep, deep tinfoil hat waters here.

Actually, sometimes the true stories sound fake: if you'd have been faking it, you'd have taken the seemingly less believable segments out

I'm glad you got it worked out, and I am sorry he passed as well. I remember our meeting so vividly His work is really good and it inspired me to paint the way I do. I wish he could have left a better impression with some of the guys around here. I am thinking this thread should be closed as its a case solved IMO, and we don't need to continue this particular thread.
