I've read a few comments around the FW Storm eagle saying it's the worst cast model Forgeworld has put out in years, with reports of pieces not fitting, extensive warping and lots of greenstuffing required to have a passable model.

I was planning on using it as a storm raven counts-as in my new army, but I'm not sure I want to deal with this kind of quality issue. Has anyone put together the kit recently that has had good experiences?

Otherwise, I'll likely go the Chapterhouse / storm raven kit .

Warping can be taken care of with hot water so that isn't an issue. The models I've seen assembled have all required some degree of putty work, but nothing that requires you to fabricate detail out of thin air.

Still, it's a lot better than the Thunderhawk I saw being assembled at the Bunker. Man, that thing was horrible.

I'd seriously consider the CHS kit anyway.

You can get the base kit from a discounters so it will be substantially cheaper, and I, having a pair myself, think they look way better proportioned than the originals.

The CHS kit does take a bit of fiddling, but it's all simple stuff, at worst a bit of gap filling with gs where the two kits meet.

Do you have some pics of the chs kit painted? There seems to be a real lack of them on dakka.

Thanks for the feedback.

The one on the left has the magnetized turret from them too.

It's a good kit but you need patience and learn from our errors in this thread.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

I didn't have any problems with my Stormeagle, I just had to file down 1 piece of the model to make it fit, but that was incredibly minor. The hull was also slightly warped, but this was practically a non-issue, as when I glued it in place it erased any trace of warping.

right so I think I'm convinced, the CHS is good enough for me

Glad to hear you haven't had any issues Andilus I may pick one up as a second flyer for the force later.
