Orks are good at close combat, (it might look like it because they are so bad at shooting). But some units can upgrade with Power Klaws (like nobz) and regular boyz get 2 attacks. a decent mob of boyz will be rolling a lot more dice than a space marine squad.

Tyranids are another swarm army with lots of good mele fighters. They also have some strong CC elites.

Most marine armys have some good mele fighters, especialy their special characters.

Current Army: Death Korp of Krieg
Armies I have played:

Space Marines (Ice Lords)
Death Guard

Orks. Always orks. Don't throw in your lot with the fancy super-elites. Just some good old fashioned clobbering and you'll be right on top.

Tyranids are pretty great. Hordes of little gribbly bugs with poison, Furious Charge and Feel No Pain from their Tervigon buddies, big bugs smashing into stuff, all enhanced by Telepathy and Biomancy psychic powers to make your bugs more badass and make your opponent's stuff weaker (Enfeeble, from Biomancy, is amazing).

Tervigons
Swarmlord
Zoanthropes
All of the above with lots of psychic powers
Termagants
Gargoyles
Genestealers

well purifier spam is good against hordes, but their kinda meh against anything else. As far as marines go, TH/SS termies are probably your best bet for some cc cheese.

In 5th yeah, but now with how their saves work against more you can get a bit more out of lightning claws. If you wanted could even mix the group and keep the TH/SS at the front for the save.

Well GK don't have Lightning claws, and SW have the best lightning claws. DA and BA are in between.

I think BA was more or less the faster vehicles, feel no pain bubbles with their priests and death company. Not to mention access to the storm raven.

DA currently are more or less normal marines with the ability to take more termies until their new codex hits.

The current rules may not favor Tyranids but we are definitely the best CC army fluff-wise!

Everyone is jumping in giant protective suits, swinging around ancient magical super-tech blades, relying on their fancy gadgets, etc. like they're supreme badasses because they have expensive equipment.

Tyranids jump in the slaughter nekkid and fight with their bare hands like real murderous fighters. Or claws, same thing haha.

I give 2nd place to Orks, they ain't scared of scrappin it out without a trailer of crutch-gear either.

Guarded Grey Knight Terminator

Grey Knights are only superficially a combat army. They lack access to storm shields or any other form of durability against high S armour-piercing. The wargear makes them more of a multirole army, where you shoot until they're weak enough to clean up in CC. GK Terminators end up looking pretty unimpressive next to their own book's alternative Troops choices.

Space Wolf terminators are far too expensive to rely on in large quantities, due to the behaviour of Wolf Guard equipment. They're best used to sprinkle the odd Terminator into the list, not run large quantities.

BA terminators offer access to Furious Charge and Feel No Pain, while Dark Angels offer the ability to mix shooting terminators with combat in a unit and take them as troops.

Notably, Black Templar Terminators can (for now) take double specials and innate veteran skills, which makes them better than one might think.

I bother because you are wasting everyone ELSE'S time with constantly making the same thread, over and over, and ignoring the replies in it. Warhammer 40k, and tabletop in general, is about personal preferance. The army, the models you use, how you use them, its all your choice.

You cant keep getting peoples 'opinions' on 'the best' armies, and not make a choice of your own, but to keep asking..

I mean, yes, it is totally fair to want people's opinions on things. And some of your questions are great, and can be helped by Dakka.

But asking things like if Orks have forge-world stuff, that is kinda lazy, don't you think? All it would take is a pop into google, and not only would you see that they can, but you can see what they have to offer.

But to answer; yes, Orks have lots of Forge World stuff, and IMO it's some of the nicest FW has to offer.

Also; lashing out and ignoring people is kindof unwise. Lots of Dakka members have great things to say. Just because one thing ruffles your feathers, you shouldn't scold them and ignore them. Down the road, they may have some great advice that you miss out on, because you ignored them.
