For those of us who weren't around here at the time, what's the Cliff's Notes version of this BTP fiasco?

Everyone hated on them because they were using KS as a cash grab for an imploding company that treated their staff poorly, a number of whom left or were fired, and posted/warned re: collapse and poor treatment

The threads are still around here... but basically there was a 130 comment thread about it on Table Top Gaming News where people were bashing it, former and current employees came out and said BTP did shady things, and then there were BTp employees calling others out... People started saying that BTP was gak and that people shouldn't support them, etc...

There were at least two 10 page threads around here

On topic: We're at almost 234k with three hours to go.

Basically, they were trying to take in funds (40,000 dollars!) to pay for a tons of minis that they would prepaint at varying levels of quality that they would sell on their website as full armies. In return, they were offering the rewards of some painting videos and (mostly) credit towards their painting services. Some ex-employees came out saying how bad they really were. Pledges started to hemorrhage. Then BTP said that "enemies" were trying to ruin them. Result: didn't even come close to making goal.

Was it a KS that was set up to pass (over $40k) and got driven down to failure by the hemoraging, or did that just ensure they never made it to the threshold?

It never made it.

Kind of like the Through the Breach, where it started fairly healthy, except instead of stalling for a while, there was a pretty steady decline for the latter half.

Bah, I think I may have to balk at this one simply due to the other upcoming KSes I'm anticipating. Just doesn't seem to be anything specifically driving me not to wait until the retail release since nothing is KS exclusive that I'm that interested in.

Honestly, I'm bracing myself for Wrath of Kings/Confrontation.

I'm really on the fence, because I want Hannah a lot. However, for me she's effectively a $75 model because I don't really need the other stuff beyond the books that she comes with. I already have Santana, so tha'ts not a huge driver, despite the fact that I know I could probably sell her on ebay, but I'm so lazy when it comes to that!

I have the drive home to make my final decision

This is the reason I won't discount 250k being reached. The last 120 minutes (once that countdown hits minutes) is always a big moment. My estimation is we'll make at least 245k, but still have the capacity for hitting 260k. It all just depends on how big the burst is (which it won't be impressive. Add-ons are a big part of final pushes), but it'll happen.

Well, it depends on if you were rooting for, or against it.
