Regarding newest rumors from few days ago:
"We have some Black Templar Rumors that may be giving them an update (albeit a White Dwarf one) sometime by summer of 2013. Exciting news for the Templar fans out there.
Earlier this year I was told that Black Templars would be getting the White Dwarf treatment aka like Sisters of Battle. Then earlier this month Robin Cruddace teased everyone a little bit by not confirming or denying they would get folded into the next Space Marine codex.
So after doing a bit of investigating I want to confirm that Black Templars are still on track for the White Dwarf treatment by summer 2013 at the latest. Now I do have one caveat: it could very well mean they are getting an “update” not a White Dwarf codex, but all I am hearing is a two issue White Dwarf codex to bring them in-line with 6th edition."
Many are speculating now that it seem that GW will dump the Templars and just integrate them into Codex: Space Marines. Even if they are Astartes army they are to unique to be integrated in vanilla codex in my opinion, they are after all horde Space Marine army.
So what are your opinions about this issue?

I'm mot sure where an update is the end of Black Templars. Are you saying they won't do it and declare a legal codex obsolete or that they will just forget to get around to making a WD update or codex at all?

I'll take an updated WD codex next summer if it comes to it, although if they try to rewrite everything about their history to bring them in line with the codex astartes then their either getting binned or converting to chaos

Plastic sisters are coming, they were in a leaked list a while back.
As for the end of BT, it's only the end if you aren't a champion and give up. Either play what you like and you can make it work, or throw in the towel and be a tool, getting SW, GK or Nercons.

Templars are not a unique army. None of the additional SM Chapters are. They play EXACTLY like every other chapter with just a few discrepancies. I think all SM Chapters should be consolidated into a single book. The entire hobby would be better for it.

It's a stalling tactic, basically. If they meant to get rid of them or meant to roll them into Codex Space Marines, they wouldn't bother with a WD codex.
Basically, they probably know they won't fit them in the release schedule for a while, so like Sisters, are giving them a quick update through White Dwarf. Nothing drastic, just enough to bring them up to speed with 6th edition.
They'll get their proper release, it'll just be further out than expected.

The same one that was discussed to death and is mostly thought to be complete fiction.
Meanwhile I'm annoyed by the rumour that there is no more mixed marine scout squads.
So the army is going to be almost completely identical to standard marines and is still remaining separate? What the F***?
Just slap the Emperors Champ in the next Marinedex and call it even already.

Pray tell, what Codices do you think fund the less profitable releases? And, for that matter, how does consolidating every single Marine Codex INCREASE diversity? You'd have loads of people suddenly spamming the same stuff from the same Codex without any kind of variation in competetive lists whatsoever.

That's a silly argument. Marines aren't the best sellers because of some magical inherent quality they have, they're the best sellers because GW makes them the "face" of the game and all of their (limited) marketing efforts. If GW ever learned that marketing is a good thing they could easily make any of the other armies sell just as well. Arguing otherwise is just a self-fulfilling prophecy: marines sell best so we focus all of our effort on marines, therefore marines sell best.

That would be the most convoluted Codex ever. There'd be ~30 special characters, equipment that only affects specific chapter builds, a dozen units that only get taken in a specific Codex-build, and then you'd have to have a system to restrict all these somehow. Unless, of course, you cut out all the flavour from the non-Vanilla Marines and just made them Vanilla (now with Assault Marine Troops) or Vanilla (now with Terminator Troops), in which case you would be right (but only because the game literally conformed to make you right).

Whilst I want more non SM codexes - I also don;t want it to go the way fo the Guard and loose all the flavour and fluff of the many and varied Regiments like in the last Codex.
Happy for a WD codex as its not overpriced like the recent Chaos Codex - only 40k Codex that I do not own :( = the porblem is that it then goes out of print like Sisters and they don't bother making it a pdf.

I personally thought BT were perfectly fine when they were just a 4-page add-on to the normal Space marine Codex, like the Salamanders. It was all they needed to have a unique feel all their own. That could be replicated as an entry in the normal SM codex book.
Of course, I started playing when they were just Vanilla marines, too.

I'm claiming that the White Scars' concept (Mongols in Space) is more divergent from the general space marine (aka knights in space) template than the Black Templars' (aka crusading knights in space).
Even if their rules currently are not, they should be more divergent from the Codex than just about any other chapter. Y'know, except the usual suspects.

Not to mention Crusading Knights in Space is already fulfilled by Dark Angels, who have claim on both Monotheistic monks and Medieval knights..Not to mention the Primarch Was a straight-up knight before joining the emperor.
