Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

Hey guys, boring afternoon so I thought I'd post this simple question to try and get a bit of discussion going!

Quite simply, what size games do YOU prefer to normally play in warhammer 40k and why do you prefer that size?

(By sizes I mean points values, eg, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 30000 etc)

2000 or higher, because at that level it's possible to field a full company of Imperial armor, and is therefore fluffier.

I would love to no end the ability to play like 10,000 point games (5,000 a side) because I just love the idea of total war like that haha, but my wallet already wants to stab me so I think im gonna stick with like 1,000 point games.

I find myself often playing 750 point games. Since I have 3 brothers we can fit one of these games in pretty easily. Although this is the amount of points I normally play games at, I love having friends over and playing huge games with my friends. My friends play Imperial Guard, Chaos Space Marines, Space Marines , Eldar, Tau, and I play Orks. So we can have some pretty cool huge games.

May the heretic burn.

I've quite recently got into 2k point games.

I just think it gives you the ability to bring a larger variation of models.

1850. Perfect size for a regular game and below that 2k points new bs rule.

Me and my friends play 2K normally, its a nice balance of getting the units you like on the board but not having a game that lasts forever.

I enjoy 1500, 1850 and 2k games.

Less points tends to... enbiggen... army issues.

I like 1500-1850. You can't take everything, but you can build a solid list to a concept. I find going above that seems to be less fun because it feels like people can just take everything and games take a bit too long, and low point games like 1000 and less seem far too rock/paper/scissors for my liking.

Prefer larger battles like 2000

Most battles I get at my store are 1500 or 2000

I want to play Apoc alot but most of the excuses (which many are valid actually) are

"I don't have an army big enough" (to which i reply why not get a team mate or something?)
or
"I don't have the time" (which is obviously a real problem for everyone)

1000 pts because most of the guys I play with have armies close to that.

1500pts allows me to build a viable army, whilst taking into account playing time too. 2000pts is a fair size, but the issue is that not all my opponents would be able to finish them in time (4 hours + a hell of a lot of cigarette breaks/chit chat doesn't leave a lot of time for gaming). Admittedly though when I do come across an opponent that focuses I tend to get hammered however. =)

I play almost exclusively 2k. I find that it allows you to take "ALMOST" everything you want without Too much sacrifice. Although I have a played a few different point games lately like a 3k and a bunch of 1500's. and starting this Tuesday my FLGS is doing 1k mini tournaments. So I'll be playing quite a few 1k games coming up.

1000-Apocalypse matches are fun between a lot of friends and many differing armies, they just seem a fun way to destroy some time and to have a laugh (it is always funny to watch a Chaos Terminator Squad get taken down by some Veteran Guard )

Smokeless = no cig breaks, spilling dip spit on Da Boyz is regrettable though. and warhammer without chit chat is more heresy than worshiping the blood god.

I play mostly 1500 because of time restraints. I work in the afternoon, so I only have a few hours to play for the most part, and 2000 points usually just takes too long.

1000pts. I play pure infantry IG so any more points than that and there just isn't enough time in a 2 hour match. I basically bring around 100 models per 1000pts.

So vs marines you limit points so you have the advantage?

Usually I play 1250pts games as I find they are a good standard size and doesn't take too long.

Although 2000pts is my favoured, time permitting.
