Mine took two weeks or so to arrive. With the holidays and Winter Storm Apocalypse (or whatever they are calling it) it could take longer.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Update #80 - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster/posts/704361

Happy Holidays! Christmas Day Update!

Dearest backers, I come with a pair of upgrades and a gift!
( in a super duper rush, did not spell check this one, anna is asleep and I beg you for forgiveness! )

I am happy to be spending another holiday season with you all! It has been a truly special year and I gotta admit its actually really hard to stop working for a few days. Until the new years I will be dialing my time down to just 2 hours of work a day, so i can keep ontop of key communication with the plastic production team and a few of the freelancers that aren't taking time off.

Upgrades

The forsakers mask, a piece of gear you can earn from defeating the butcher is also now represented in miniature form. It was just too cool to pass up! The original skull helm has had another art pass. The original was interesting but the new one feels much better. In addition they will also be represented in miniature form for all those budding bone warriors out there!

Gift
This is my gift to everyone for being awesome. I spent some time with our digital sculptor working on some more elaborate hair styles. These were initially a creative exploration, but they turned out so well we have decided to share them! These extra heads will be included in every core game box.

I am rolling all the other updates I have at this point into a larger update which should be around... the second week in January. ( maybe end of first week?) I am expecting a lot of plastics so it would be nice to have a little time to assemble everything, take photos and then just share it all at once.

I just wanted to say again, thank you so very much for being part of this kickstarter and part of my life for the last year. We are so much closer now to bringing this truly titanic project into reality and all of this simply would not be possible without you. Although there was a certain comfort in taking it slow, this push is worth it and I just can't wait until we are all playing KD:M together!

!!!!!!!!

I see a very poor pun in the nature of the gift... ;P

Those heads are gorgeous though.

Part of me is hoping for the possibility to add more stuff before this is all sent out, as I missed out on the "second chance" to reopen the survey. The other part of me is hoping this all moves along quietly til suddenly it's in the mail so I get no chance to spend more.

I am really - no really really looking forward to this stuff.

Wish I could say we need to add more (Because Poots deserves our monies!), but we're already in for all the expansions, all the extra minis and thanks to my brother, all the pin-ups.

It's progressing at a nice and quiet pace, we have a rough idea of where things are at and when it might happen, unlike some companies.

The new heads look nice. Unfortunately, I won' t be getting any because my half of the Kingdom Death purchase was all expansions while Highlord Tamburlaine is getting the core game. Maybe I can bum a couple of the heads off of him?

It's going to be a pain in the ass magnetizing all of these bits though.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, especially with those special one-off heads, it's going to be quite a chore. Then again, I'm thinking of only doing the heads and leaving the rest as is.

Those thanks are certainly in order. I'm sure you'll agree once you have platics in hand.

It's been a long wait for KD:M and all this dressing from Adam by way of upgrades and freebies is a nice touch as the campaign - it certainly doesn't feel like it ended on the kickstarter's closing date - draws to it's conclusion. Still very eagerly awaiting this one.

I'm only interested in the game, expansions and the lore, the pin-ups are all his.

I like that he said up front that he's only tossing in the freebies because they can and it won't mess with the overall production schedule as it is. It's also an extra nice "thank you" for us waiting backers.

But hell, I'm not too bothered by the wait just yet. To be perfectly honest I knew that there would be a delay and hell, he's kept things open, honest and to the point, not to free of insults and other flashy PR bs. I'd rather see this one done right from miniatures down to the rules and lore, especially that last part as that's what really drew me in.

An interesting tidbit here:

@Everyone. Yes we are behind the original estimated delivery date. And you are all backers, not customers. Starting fulfillment in march is not likely, as all of February the factories in china will be shut down for Chinese new year. It also takes on the average 6 weeks for a shipment to travel across the sea and clear customs.

He seems a bit...testy here, but it is understandable given the pressure he's probably under combined with the number of times he's probably asked for an update too...

If he is testy, I have no problem with that.

Every kickstarter I have backed has been delayed except Zombicide S1.

I don't care about delays as long as they are used to insure a better quality product.

Many people seem to be down right disgusted and cheated when they hear about a delay in product.

I've seen people ask for refunds immediately (In every kickstarter I have backed), people who think they are entitled to free miniatures for compensation because they were traumatized from the delay.

Kickstarter needs to come with a warning label more than a hot coffee at McDonalds.

This has been explained as Adam being a bit testy to one particular person, and that when he says "backer" he means that as a compliment, and something he values higher than a 'customer', though I'm sure he values customers rather highly too.

He cares and keeps us in the loop, that's what matters most to me. We are not being lied to, kept in the dark, insulted or otherwise made fools of.

Personally I have a feeling that we will not see pledge fulfilment until post-Summer in all likeliness. Given the workload and the (not meant as an insult, but rather as a compliment) perfectionist that Adam is, I can see this being pushed back a wee bit further down the line.

But in my opinion, that's okay in this case, as he's earned my trust and respect in this matter. Unlike my brother, I have a good feeling about this all. We know what the factory is capable of (proud owner of a Leviathan here) and Adam's drive to make this the best damn thing ever really shines through in every update.

Very interesting thing for me to learn here!

That is, whenever I make a public post ( anywhere ), I should always include any and all context related to the information I am sharing. Soundbytes can be tricky!

So that kickstarter comment should have been unfolded. And read more like this:

@Everyone. Yes we are behind the original estimated delivery date of november 2013. The overfunded project and deliberate choice to pursue hard plastic instead of pvc is the direct cause of this. Everyone here is a backer, which is something I value at a premium compared to a pure company to customer relationship. In the update before the holiday update, I pushed the estimated release date back to Q2. Starting fulfillment in march is not likely, as all of February the factories in china will be shut down for Chinese new year. It also takes on the average 6 weeks for a shipment to travel across the sea and clear customs. However, once everything is finally sea bound, I will have a much more concise date on when fulfillment will begin."

The future is briefly touched upon here:

Creator Kingdom Death 1 day ago

- Living Rules -
We will just have to wait and see! I plan on supporting and nurturing the Kingdom Death community to the fullest extent of our ability. But without the game being released its something thats very hard to predict. It's also very true that until all the shipping starts, all of the internal resources are just too busy to begin laying the proper groundwork for community support. The very loose plan is to just tackle it in a very organic fashion, so that we can grow it to meet the demands of the player base as it goes. I see KD:M's future being all about custom campaigns and I'd love to make future releases that support that notion. That way a gaming group can really decide their customization level before starting a campaign. Some players might enjoy for example, a more in depth survivor generation system that gave them a few personality quirks, while others may just enjoy the pure tactical and very math side of the game and could setup an aggressive timeline filled with nothing but very hard fights in an effort to get their settlement ahead of schedule and have more time to tackle the optional legendary monsters hidden in the game.

I'd also love to publish online rules for playing with a game master. Where an extra player actually controls the monster by drawing a "hand" from its AI deck.

And lastly, we have already started talking about monster on monster combat with a pair of custom AI decks.

The possibilities feel kinda limitless right now! And it's really hard to push everything away and fully focused with the tasks at hand but its a big big must!

All I can say, is that I want to support the life of the game with a slew of super experimental rules ( in addition to expansions ) and if stuff sticks then we can figure out how to roll it into a published version of sorts.

But yeah, one step at a time! hehe

hmm, monster on monster combat sounds intriguing, especially if you place survivors trying to cross the path of the dueling monsters.

Opens up the option of more human settlements that worship specific monsters and are therefore protected by them (to some extent) as well.

A little bit from the KS comments

Quickies
Slender Man currently too hard, need to dial its level 1 back a bit.

We now have two full time game testers on deck for the final push. ( this is in addition too the organized groups we get in on a regular basis. )

Current Build is very solo able.

I plan on sneaking in a typo into the core book, just on purpose! bwa hahahaha

Adam popped into the KS comments again yesterday

Creator Kingdom Death about 19 hours ago

Well, I have received and assembled more plastic miniatures ! I'll be taking the photos and sharing sometime this week. An update, yay!

I will have 6 new plastics to show. Plus a huge update on the Dragon King! Thomas has really done it justice!

@Rene, Still looking at Q2. I wish I could be more specific, but a lot of the timing is depends on vendors, customs, etc etc.

@Andrew, ah no not quite yet. The armor kits need more time to bake before I can reveal them. Hard plastic is amazing and to really get the most out of it, you need to find the right balance between form and function since you can't have any undercuts.

so we can expect radioactive dragon power to show sometime this week

Consider this a challenge, a call to improve your skills as a painter. That's the way I'm looking at things.
