I may make it out for this one! Excited to play at 1750 in preparation for LVO. If I can make something reasonable out of what I have, I should be able to tweak a unit or two before at my snails pace in the hobby by February. I'll be fully painted but only because the painted ones are luckier!

Trevor, are you and (ponytail) Mike gonna show for this one?

Since there's no Sportsmanship category this time, I'm really gonna douche it up .... I'll argue about LoS, MC rules, fudgy measurements, you name it! Fast-no call dice, 6" plus Movement, I'm gonna make somebody moan and groan about drawing me for match. I hope it's you.

Definitely still a kick out the douche clause. Definitely.

Casey has no love for anyone or anything but his monthly lunch break at Lucky Baldwins across the street. And by lunch I mean beer.

Regardless, here's a link to the pics for the day so far, Rounds one is over, Round two on now.

Good time was had by all. Thus proving 1750pt games can be done in a reasonable time frame. More Ork silliness to come next time.

I agree.

All three games of mine finished to Turn 5, even with Laser Lock extra Twin-Linking. I'd like 1750 for next month. And, Trev, your feelings of narcissism are also known as "Delusions of Grandeur."

Yesterday was super fun. I'm also throwing my vote in for more 1750, if only because it's easier to fit in a Wraithknight at that point level

I think "the more the merrier" applies to point and time limits for 40k!

Maybe do a poll and experimental trial run for an 1850-2k event and see how it works out/gauge interest?

2k events blow in my opinion. Ive been to several and the games drag. I rather have a fun fast 3 games at 1500-1750 then be at the store till 9

First post edited with next month's event data.

Thanks to everyone who came out, and congrats to the winners!

Here's the link to the facebook event:

https://www.facebook.com/events/510805612349810/?previousaction=join&source=1

The November event will be 1750, thanks to everyone acquitting themselves so very well with 1750 points in the October event. Games getting finished and all kinda crazy nonsense!

Two things I'm considering for this event, to mix things up:

1. No Allies
2. Fixed Game Length at 6 turns, no random game length roll.

Let me know what you guys think!

No Allies. I feel like that would throw me for a ringer since I barely have an army. But then again I could bring the ork horde unpainted.

I would like to see both those, no allies and 6 turns. BRING IT!

I would like to see allies, I think that is the direction the game is going from now on. I also like 1500 for the challenge in army creation.

I actually am not a big fan of either of these. Nixing allies means fewer choices, and that's sad.

Fixed game length just means that people will have a greater incentive to slow-play to force a conclusion before turn 6, or or to disregard playing to the mission for an extra turn or two while blowing baby seals off the table since they know they'll have an extra turn.

Thats actually a very good point, and 6 turns is also a bit difficult to finish in 2 hours and 15 minutes.

You don't play anymore! Your opinions are now based on speculation and academic conjecture. I'll just start referring to you as a certain type of falcon.

I like no allies for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is it will force people to make new lists. I've been seeing the same combinations on the field for a while now. Allied forces can get as tired as pure ones.

That being said, I'm not leaning either way at the moment, and I'm definitely listening to all the viewpoints, looking for a good, compelling argument for or against.

As for the turn length issue... that's a little murkier. It's easy to say that people will slow play to gain a desired outcome, but the first and most obvious counter is that the reality on the table is that many tournament games only make it to turn 5 anyway, so if someone is going to slow play intentionally then the turn length as stated in the tournament rules is meaningless. Whether it says 6 turns flat or RGL, a player who's interested in slow playing to win just has to wait for that simple exchange near the end of the round:

"Hey guys, about 15 minutes left. What turn are you on?"
"Uh, finishing bottom of four..."
"Ok, well, get through turn five and that will be it then."

Then they can gerrymander the result regardless of the stated end of game protocol. They now know when the game will end and can plan accordingly.

It's my experience that games in a 6th edition tournament that go the distance are either complete blowouts, or between a couple of iron-clad veterans who've probably squared off more than a few times before.

Again, not leaning one way or the other, just seeing if anyone has a good argument for either side.

I made the mistake of reading that on my iPad while in a meeting... I nearly laughed in the middle of a fairly serious conversation!

So I don't play enough to count, but the games I played last September were fun at 1500. Allies out make sense, but the question still stands, do you think the game is moving toward allies? Also, as a TO, do you think people actually try and slow games down? Your comments suggest you don't.

Yeah, man. If you're not even going to be playing in the tourneys, why post a comment in the thread?

Dis, which Ally combo would you like to see? I can bring SMEldar. Maybe El'DOrks?
