How does the driver see forward/right. There's the front gunner in the way! Have someone sit on the hood of your car above the right headlight. Now try to drive.

Why is the cupola round when it doesn't turn?
What is that window thing supposed to be?
The cupola would look better without the marine and stick the assault canon underneath. At least replace the marine with a servitor.

Just noticed the skulls with tongues poking out, one on top and one underneath - wtf!

All in all this looks like a kit with a lot of conversion potential. How many of those altar things are going to end up on tanks, lots I reckon.
Would like to see that TL plasma as a razorback weapon.

Well, there's no way that gunner can sit in that turret what with the lack of horizontal space, so he'd be standing- and there's no way he can stand with an engine being there.

The engines on a landspeeder are in the back, not the front.

There looks to be plenty of room in there for his legs, probably on a small rotating seat. The main issue with it is just that it looks silly.

hah, didn't think of that- he has, in effect, got a blind spot of 270 degrees- he can see from straight ahead, to 90 degrees on his left. Not the best when you're driving a light armoured skimmer which relies on jinking out the way of incoming fire.

Looking at it, you can see the assault cannoneer's knees, so he's sitting.
That must be so small and uncomfortable a place to sit, he may as well remove the lower half of his armour and sit on a rod to allow faster pivoting...

Reminds me of the Hellcat Cruisers from the Jak series... But yeah, that front gunner has to go. For one where did they stick all the components that were located in the nose (landing gear)? At least it looks like a quick plasticard fix.

You mean remove the lower half of his body and plug in a life support chair, right? That way it might actually work in any sensible fashion. The driver and rear monitor guy at least seem to be strapped in - what's the gunner going to do when they come to a screeching halt somewhere? Fly off into a brighter but shorter future is my guess.

The BEST use for that landspeeder is to tear out the marines and orkify it.
I can see the stupid front gun cupola with a metal birdcage on top, trapdoors underneath, and packed full of bombgrots.

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

Move the assault cannon to an underslung position and remove the stupid front gunner position and you would have a really nice model!
The crying shame is that the helmets and marines themselves look really cool, they've made some nice new sculpts that are a cross between normal marines and a flight helmet (kinda like the valkyrie pilots) on the pilot. Seriously cool!
Shame the rest of the model lets it down.
OOOH!! Just had a thought, maybe this is now meant to be a sort of skimmer (thing the star wars ones a couple of ft off the ground) as opposed to a flying vehicle...

that's what a land speeder does- hovers a few feet off the ground.

In planetside 2 there is a butt gun for their liberators, to deal with those guys that coming up from right behind them. A bottom gun to deal with ground units and a forward gun to deal with vechiles in front.

Seeing as it is a speeder, It would be useful if it was on the back of it so when they flew past they could gun down the remainder.

I'd have thought, what with two guns on it, the main one being 360 degrees would be enough- that can finish off any stragglers.

Wow really? Can't just say you don't like it? Have to come up with some extremely silly reason of "he can't be there, there is an engine"? Really? Let's think about this, shall we? If they took the basic landspeeder and added the gunner position there is already *no* engine in that space. Looking at the current landspeeder we see that the engines are located in the *rear* of the speeder and likely fill all the space back there where there is no driver space or gunner space. The new speeder obviously has *more* engines than the original, though, but they are in pods on the sides of the speeder, every similar to engines under the wing of an airplane. So again still no engine in the front. Of course then there is the simple concept of design: I want a land speeder that has a gunner spot in the front, so I design it so that even if the engine is in the front of the speeder, which we already know it isn't here, it is not impossible to design the vehicle in such a way that there need be no engine components where you plan to have a gunner.

Of course even in our world right now there are multiple car models on the market that don't have the engine under the front bonnet either...

This is all with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I just couldn't believe someone would write this in the first place as a reason to diss the model...

I seem to be one of the few people who actually kind of likes the front spaced turret. From a logical and tactical standpoint placing it there also makes sense. In the current landspeeder I am at a loss for how the gunner's weapon has a 180 degree arc of fire since part of that fire arc needs to shoot through the driver. Moving the turret to the front of the model actually makes the 180 degree fire arc possible in the first place.

Wow really? Can't just say you don't like it?

Can't you just accept that people have their reasons for not liking things? There's no reason to go on a diatribe about it.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

what's in the front of a normal speeder then? It can't just be a few wires and a glove compartment...
Also, kinda ironic you're complaining I posted a 2-sentence comment about it, and then proceeded to post this much about it...

just pointing out, while the pintle mount does now offer possibly 180 degrees, it'd make more sense to have a gun which covers 90 degrees, then have a driver which can see 180- I'd prefer not crashing and dying in a ball of fire at the cost of a little less killing power, but that might be just me.

Ummm nothing like completely cutting out the part where I explained that I was joking while writing this whole thing. A joke *isn'* a complaint, mate. Learn to laugh a little. Not only did you completely miss the joke aspect of my post, but you then asked about what is in the front of a normal speeder? NOBODY CARES. It is a plastic toy model for use in a game that simulates a completely fictional warfare setting. They could say the gunner sits on top of the fusion reactor and it helps to keep his bum warm during combat maneuvers and it still wouldn't matter in the least....

Don't like the model, then by all means don't like the model, but don't try to bring in real world engineering and vehicle design concerns without also expecting people are going to make fun of the fact that you did so...

I don't like the model because of failed vehicle design concerns- it makes no sense whatsoever. (I'm good with artistic licence and the rule of cool, but it's taking that licence too far, and doesn't look in any way cool).
this is a thread about the silliest model, and I explained why I think that model's silly. You can make fun of someone for going all technical on a sci-fi model (which I'm not- just stating the immediately obvious), but you shouldn't make fun of someone for providing a reason.

but I agree this looks ridiculous.

How can anything in 40k be called Ridiculous? Their Space Ships are basically flying cathedrals O'doom. Their tanks are unfeasibly silly, a Space Marine is an over engineered super-human clad in Massive Knight Armour, who carries a personal weapon that we currently mount on an IFV. Everything is over the top gothic - camp.

Personally this thing looks great and totally fits in the 40k world. Pah, since when does common sense apply in the 40k universe.

40k test :-

1. Does it look Gothic?
2. Is it covered in skulls?

If your answer is yes to both of the above then it fits in 40k.
