Such a pity, as they're such a nice kit.

I have to get at least one set of the ravenwing command. The banner is something I have wanted to do for years.

I got a good long look at the Codex this afternoon, and am lucky enough to have near eidetic memory.

I can damn near quote the thing if anyone still has any questions.

It's pretty!

The wording for the salvo banner. Does it work on Hurricane Bolters?

Salvo banner works with "boltguns" specifically.

No bolt pistols, no stormbolters, but given that hurricanes are described as "3 TL boltguns" I would say yes.

I did a fully converted command squad with everyone in robes including the attack bike and landspeeder, so I dont need models for them, but I learned wherever the banner was that was priority one. It seems to be a psychological thing with people to target it first. And I know from hard experience space marine bikes are incredibly weak. Yes they are toughness 5 but they are in essence just a power armoured space marine. So one well placed plasma cannon shot and there goes your 200 point command squad. Every army has that head scratching "why would you ever take it" unit, and I guess that is the role of the Ravenwing command squad.

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

CAN take attack bikes and Land Speeders in the squadron, but they still split off into separate single model units.

Wait...wow...very nice.

Now attack bikes...are they part of the squad or are they always on their own like last codex?

Wow you answered my question before I even finished typing it

Thanks Tuagh. Your awesome.

I'm liking what I'm hearing. A command squad in a Crusader with scoring bikers. I'm getting more excited the more I hear.

Scouts are troops, cheap, and have access to 2 pt camo cloaks.

In other words, they are actually scouts this time around!

Naturally, PA armored command squad in the Crusader w/the banner would be ridiculous. It's not cheap but the firepower enhancement would be worth it.

Deathwing as troops? With or without Belial?

Ah... that's a shame. I was hoping you could do the thing that Gav did many moons ago in the WD BatRep that accompanies the release of Codex: Angels of Death, where he bought Brother Bethor and the Standard of Devastation and combined it with a unit of 5 Deathwing Termies and Azrael's bubble shield to create this nearly invulnerable bubble of storm bolter-y death!

Pity.

I'd personally be interested if there is anything changed about the Whirlwind and Vindicator?

Also curious which cost for the fighter plane was right - 160 or 180?

Are the vet squads pretty close in price and equipment options to Chaos Chosen?

Thanks for your answers so far.

165 for a naked squad and banner, not too bad of a point sink for quadrupling your anti infantry fire.

I've read mixed things about the rules for inner circle, does it make DW fearless? If not what does it do?

Whirlwind and Vindi are pretty standard.

Both point values are correct, 180 for nephilim, 160 for talon.

Vets are 90 base, with 3-per-unit close combat upgrades or combiweapons, 1-per-5 special weapons, and 1-per-unit heavy weapons. A five man squad could have every member with a combi, special, or heavy. Very shooty.

Fearless & PE Chaos Space Marine. Factors loosely into some other special rules, like the DW Knights shieldwall ability.

Inner Circle applies to DW units and to pretty much every IC, so fearless is easy to come by in DA.

There are non-Interrogator Chaplains in the list? How do they differ to Interrogator Chaplains?

And is Belial required for Deathwing as Troops, or can it be done without him?

Are there an restrictions in the DA for being taken as allies? Like, can I take Deathwing allies as troops?

It is. I'd rather spend the points on the a command squad with banner. Pity, I like the look of it. The weapons loadout already wasn't great for anti-air but when the Avenger Bolt Cannon thing turned out not to be the same one as forgeworld (i.e. less shots and at AP4) it just killed the fighter for me.

Don't recall any restrictions on allies. Can do deathwing allies as long as you take the appropriate character or take them as elites.

Speaking of which, Belial opens DW troops, Sammael opens RW troops, and Azrael opens both! Dual Wing is in.

Nephilim seems like the better fighter, but neither is impressive. Also, Neph was printed as having Missile Lock, but has no weapons that scatter.

65 points woah that's is hella cheap! Just over half of the current cost.
Also do we get the armoury section back like C:CSM did?
