It'll be interesting to see what new terminator weapon options others might get, if any.

Fluffwise I actually thought the Deathwing would get some form of Plasma Blasters (essentially twin-linked plasma guns), like the old Captain of the Ultramarines 1st company had. But I'll take a Plasma Cannon, thank you very much.

Plasma guns for the DA Termies? Ouch. This would be a bit too much. But yeah, combi-plasma would have been fluffy too.

And all in all im very much liking the new Deathwing box. Lots of nice weapon options, plus theres the champion, standard bearer and apothecary.

The dice gods will delight in killing plasma cannon using termies, maths says it's unlikely but we've all seen that happen many times.

Just last night I played a friend and killed five TH/SS termies with Bolter fire from one squad, it should not happen but it does.

Small arms fire kills Terminators. This is one way to deal with them.

1 squad rapid firing should kill 1 terminator.

7 bolters and 1 pistol (heavy and special both missed) is 15 shots, if 5 miss thats 10 hits half of which wounds making the terminators roll 5 saves at 2+, law of averages says that unit survives mostly intact, but the dice gods willed otherwise!!!

Sadly he made every 3+ save the following turn when my cultists unleaded everything they had at his sternguard squad.

The dice gods giveth and taketh away.

Plasma is certainly good vs several armies such as Marines of all color.
However, plasma can bounce off vs some armies like Necrons or hordes. Recently, I played in an RTT with my Necrons, 1850 pts, vs. IG with 3 Executioners giving in total 3 plasma cannon shots per turn. My 15 Wraiths made it quickly across the board to rip his IG (with the help of flyers, Immortals, and ABs) into pieces. Plasma didn't really help.
it should have been 9 shots per turn.... ur opponent obviously had no idea what he was doing and i assume his lack of knowledge about the army detrimented his playing ability accordingly

Yeah, this is what I meant, 3 plasma cannons per Executioner. It can be devastating against some armies (like a drop podded SW army landing in front of the IG army at said RTT) and it can bounce off against others.

What he meant is that the Executioner isn't a plasma cannon, it lays down 3 plasma templates by itself. Throw in 2 extra cannons and that's 5 S7 AP2 templates a turn per tank. That's 15 small blasts a turn if he has 3, which is enough to put a dent in even a horde force.

My opponent at the RTT had Executioners with heavy bolter sponsons and a lascannon. The other option, two plasma cannon sponsons would have been scarier, but I guess he wanted variety.

but now that DA deathwing knights are T5 2+/3++ it might be best to just tarpit them and move on to other things.

You need to realy blow up the picture to see them.
There are three on the "Grip"
One on the Trigger
and the thumb over the top of the other 3 fingers.

it looks a little wonky becouse of the Guantlent, they are there.

I meant having a Plasma Blaster as the squad special weapon or Sergeant-only option actually, not to replace Storm Bolters as a basis. But then again, I always wondered about the lack of variety of heavy weapons, especially anti-tank ones, on a platform that is notable for it's ability to let a user move and fire a heavy weapon.

For instance, an autocannon, or lascannon.

I actually forgot until looking at the Deathwing Apothecary that Termi and Bike-mounted Apothecaries have existed since 2nd edition.

If you're not expecting to be allowed to use illegal combinations in pick-up or tournament games, the advice is fine. Making a Terminator Apothecary model and clarifying with your opponent that he doesn't actually function as an Apothecary because you can't legally take one in a Codex: Space Marines army is more acceptable than taking options your Codex isn't permitted and claiming it's okay because it's cooler.
