Hmm sure are a lot of MDF terrains on KS.....
Anyways its pretty straightforward, MDF modular space ship hallway terrain. Though he does say you could use it for a variety of other uses. Theres also a loader and hex crates and 25mm round bases
Though what I dont get is that the higher pledges cost more than multiple of the base $100 pledge. Unless I'm really missing something

Plus, there are no rooms, only corridors.
How can this be effectively for a "Bug Hunt" game without rooms?

Certainly seems to be the case here. To me it's all covered in the info he's put on the page. It's going to take a while to produce each set. Running it as a KS campaign means people will expect a wait before they get what they've paid for. If he just puts them up for sale, people won't be as prepared to sit around twiddling their thumbs for weeks/months whilst the litter laser gets busy. Seems it's not the fund he needs, just a way to justify a long lead time.

yeah,
I know this can be used in other space corridor games...
But I'd be buying it for SpaceHulk.
From the GW site. The space hulk 2009 boxed game comes with:
10 rooms,
24 corridors,
8 T-Junctions,
6 corners,
8 end sections,
9 crossroads (including an offset one)
20 doors
$100 (plus TBD shipping gets me)
0 rooms,
6 corridors, (all short)
1 T-Junctions,
1 corners,
0 end sections,
1 crossroads
0 doors
So the $100 (plus TBD shipping) set is quite far from the required amount needed for space hulk.
I hope the stretch goals are generous!
I'll definitely be waiting to see how much a SpaceHulk replacement tile set will cost... but I don't expect it to be a friendly number.
Looks great thou!

These look to be too wide to mimic the Space Hulk tiles. They still might work, but letting Terminators walk side by side might mean they can bring too much firepower to bear.

Wooooooo, I would love to see some of these wired up with LED lights and colored plasti-rod.
I gotta say the price is really right too. This could make some amazing terrain for multiple games.
I wish I had a reason to use these, I simply don't at this time. I may get some for display base or scenic stuff.

I am thinking that the marines shown in the pictures are the old style Terminators, so that has them on 25mm bases.
Would still be fine for current edition Space Hulk, as the Terminators are on 40mm bases. Will just make the corridors a bit wider, but that's not too bad a thing.
I really like the wall sections. Wouldn't mind just snagging some of those and some floor pieces just to decorate a ships interior.

Yeah, gonna have to pass on this one. The pieces look great, but I think I'll have to settle for Terraclips and that magnetic forest KS for my home terrain for now. I generally play at a friend's house that has a solid terrain stock on hand, so this would be going overboard, especially with S&H to the great white north TBD.

Hello all. This is Ken from Fantasy Arc. First of all thank you to kenshin620 for starting this thread on my project. I will do my best to answer the questions you all have brought up here.
International shipping was a bit of a difficult issue for me since I have no good way of determining at this point what the weight and size of each international package will be. I would like to be able to charge each international backer exactly what their shipping will turn out to be, and not a penny more, but there is no support for that via kickstarter that I am aware of. So that being said, I am appalled by the cost of international shipping! It certainly adds an extra burden to international backers. So what I did was determine what I felt would be the most likely size and weight box I would have to ship and quoted that price on the project page. Some may turn out to be less, and some more, but as I said, I don't have any way to handle each package individually. My apologies for not having this information up on the page from the start. It was an oversight on my part.
One point of clarification. I am making my corridors out of hobby grade plywood, not MDF.
I decided to debut this product on Kickstarter for a number of reasons. First it seems to be a new and hot outlet for gaming products. Looking through their year end statistics, the game category earned more money than any other. Second, Kickstarter has a number of advantages for me, a one-man operation, over other traditional outlets. Kickstarter is a great marketing tool for one, but more importantly it provides a little bit of a safety net for the start up project. I could invest a sum of money out of pocket to produce the number of sets I think I could sell and then go out and try to fill orders, or I can collect pledges on Kickstarter ahead of time and know exactly what interest I am going to have when it is time to start production.
The corridors are not at all difficult to build. It will only take a couple minutes per corridor to complete depending on which one it is and how long you like to let your glue dry before continuing. The straight section for example is made from 15 pieces (4 of which are related to the light tubes and may be the only fiddly bits) and only goes together in one way. I will be adding a demonstration build video to the site as soon as I get it shot.
I too had the idea of replacing the plastic rods with LEDs. So far what I have found at Radio Shack appears to be too big but I am still exploring that option and would like to be able to add a lighting kit as a stretch goal.
As for other stretch goals, I have added information about the first one to the page. I currently have three different ways to connect a small room to the corridors designed and prototyped. These will most likely be the next couple of stretch goals. A large room is next in the design queue after I finish a new type of corridor I am working on. I have also completed an airlock, which will allow you to connect the corridors to the table top and game inside or outside. This will also be a stretch goal item.
Yes those are old style Terminators on 25mm bases in the pictures. I have had them since the Rogue Trader days. The corridors are wide enough to put two 40mm bases side by side but the Hex Crates make great obstructions and would allow you to make choke points and blockages.
Thanks all for your interest in my project.

Any chance some of us overseas can grab just the wall and deck plates? Looking to incorporate a few pieces into terrain I am building to give it a bit of variety, and only a few small pieces shouldn't cost too much in postage.

I guess it would be possible to just produce walls and decks without the rest of the kit but doing custom sized or shaped pieces is a little bit beyond the scope of the project at this time. What size piece would you want?

Overlal it looks very nice but I do have a few concerns:
The largest concern for me in the woodgrain. How does these look once primed and painted? I'd hate to drop a ton of cash on these and have something that looks really rough on the surface nor would I want to spend lots of time sanding each piece.
What door ways and rooms? Right now there are only streteches of halls and dead end pieces, even if there are no rooms I'd like door way pieces that at least look like they'd be leading to a room.
Right now it looks like it's a great start but I'd probably pass as I can't make anything beyond hallways/tunnels.

I think these are awesome, and I applaud the entrepreneurial spirit this start up is embracing.
The pieces shown have a great degree of creativity and looks like solid design elements.
However, a few minor points..
* While the initial design risks have been worked out, the number one risk to any endeavor is the business end - managing inventory, shipping, your supplies, timing, cash flow, etc. While I am not being critical of this specific kickstater - this is a general observation that making prototypes is a much different process than supporting ongoing delivery of product to large numbers of customers.
* Painted appearance - (as mentiond my paulson) while I agree with the...colorful comments - in the kickstarter on how neat the unpainted one looks - the majority of end users usually want painted models on painted terrain. We need to see how well this takes paint - and methods for reducing any appearance issues (sealing it?).
* rooms and other pieces. - this could work great with many gaming options - rooms or at least the mention of them would help inspire ideas for a more complete line.
* at least some rough shipping estimates.
Again, I think this is a great product and has a ton of potential - I will throw some support its way - but an unproven business/manufacturer is just that and a lack of "game ready" images are some gaps that need to be addressed.
best of luck and I can't wait to see more!

I'd only need one of the regular wall sections from one side (if they're all the same) and one of the corner pieces of flooring as it has two different designs (rather than just being all grating). Would be cool to grab those bits for a medical bay I have in mind. Will also see what other options come available as stretch goals.

Fully visible to backers but just shown in outline on the front page he added a stretch goal today (already since reached) of a really nice looking square room with articulated door designed to be put on the end of a corridor. He also (on the updates page) has another nearly reached stretch goal of a room attached to the side of a hallway piece (you can kind of see this one at one point during the video preview that shows different layouts). Both room types will apparently be included in the existing bundle level tiers (one of each per tier level). He should have showed them off from the start as they really make the set.
My wife and I were discussing how prepared he is going to be for the volume considering he basically appears to be one guy with a cool laser in a garage while at just four days into the kickstarter he already has sufficient pledges to need to produce around 1000 corridor sections. That's going to be a lot of plywood.
