3 easy questions:
1. Azrael, his 4++ to attached squad: Is it now specified that his 4++ is only given to DA squads he has joined or does it confer to any allied squad he's attached to that DA are battle bros with ie: 50 man guard blob?
2. Do DA get the reroll on gets hot across the entire army?
3. Who can take a combi plascannon. Am I confusing this with the termie Plas cannon or is that it's own choice?

1. new codices follow the path of : "friendly unit from codex ...." , thus DA can share benefits with other units bought from a DA codex. Azrael has "his squad" in his entry about the helmet.. so maybe anyone he joined. 2. what re-roll? 3. its a combi-plasma , not sure why you deem it a cannon? And a chapter relic, so anyone with access to those relics may buy it but as a relic it is also one per army. A few standard characters have access.

For 3, just want to clarify that it says "one of each relic can be taken per army." I assume that's what you meant, but I didn't want players to fear that they could only choose one relic period. Also the combi-plasma is kinda a plasma cannon since it's a blast.

Kept the veterans they had in their previous codex.

From a modelling perspective, this gun is said to look like Azraels combi-weapon. I'd guess this makes it smaller than a typical "cannon".

So what's the consensus? Is this a solid codex? Not looking for Matt ward level  but at least something that is as fun to play as the BA codex.
Someone on the tactics thread keeps mention displaced fields, are they back in the DA codex ? Please let it be so!

Yea if it was 36inches and 3 HP i would be all over it, but as it stands its too fragile.
Also i was reading the codex, there is no way to get FNP on a normal squad of bikers or terminators right? its only the command squad? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also on page 60 Plasma talons dont have rapid fire but they do on page 105. Rapid fire is kind of important i hope they FAQ it.

My one complaint about the codex is there is a severe lack of EW on these expensive HQs.

Man they still suck, even at 65 points. Their only use is vs hoard GEQ. Being AV 11, they will just get destroyed before they can do any major damage.

And 3 man ravenwing command squads. Play a couple games with that, and you will quickly see they will never survive past turn one especially if you buy any banners. Its a good thing they kept the lid on the Ravenwings power level, because that was such a problem before. But at least I can still say pure ravenwing are the Underdogs army of choice.

EW is becoming more of a special occasion thing, only one model got it in BA, all the Nids lost it, and I think when the C. SM comes around they will to.

Depends on the unit champion you get, the Deathwing one is +5 pts for +2 str, ap2, strikes at int and the champ is ws5 pretty beastly
It would be a standard Champion from the Dark Angels Veterans kit. 'Tactical' Marine with Combat Shield and Power Sword.

Ok I have the codex in my hand and I bought Sammael and a ravenwing squad thinking that Sammael will allow me to use my bikes as my troops for my ally army but I am not finding it anywhere. Am I missing something or did I buy the wrong HQ?

You're not going to be able to alter the FOC slots (Such as deathwing to troops) In a non primary detachment.

So for all Ally armies you have to actually use 1 troop instead of bikes and/or termies? Bah, that was the main reason why I started DA to compliment my IG one.

I certainly enjoy the challenge of ravenwing. The codex does not seem to have changed their dynamic. I guess part of me wanted an easier army to play but the more I think about it, the gladder I am I didn't get it.

same with Devastators which are now playable. 220 for 4LC dev squad, in the C: SM same squad is 310.

DW got more expensive to play with Belial's increased cost and the TH+ SS cost, as well as the Apoth no longer having a weapon, they do still kick butt, and I will be adding some robeless knights and a champ to my line up very soon.
