Thanks Everyone! We both really do appreciate it!
Yes Sir!
So I installed a 4-tube T8 fixture with Daylight tubes. That works. Now, what to do here. the wall is not drywall, it's that fiber board stuff, and it's ruined around the outlet and that vent. The vents aren't really that important, they are just for circulation to the storage/furnace room on the other side. I think I'm going to attach 1by wood strips either vertically, horizontally, or maybe even a grid, so I have somewhere solid to connect benchcraft to. Then to figure out the benching. Ideally, I'd have countertop material, I could then build 2x4 bracing for it, or even adding cabinetry.

Here's some 1x6 glued onto the concrete walls that'll match the baseboard on the other wall. All leveled up, and stuck on with some serious construction glue

Ran out of glue and 1x6s- am going to check out a consignment furniture place, they've had unique furniture pieces before from business, industry, even old-school professional drafting tables in the past.

Over here I would look through the classified ads and see if someone was getting rid of a second hand kitchen, you might replace the tops but the cabinets would be perfect. Have kitted out several garages and workshops this way.
Always wanted to buy some kitchen cabinets and fit casters instead of legs, that way movable, and you could put 2 back to back and you have a 4' wide table top.
Most of my current set up is from the second hand furniture market, I like bureau's usually come with lots of storage, fold down lid and are relatively small footprint on the room.

We looked at the used furniture scene today, and there isn't much at the moment. However, we found some unfinished 30" oak cabinetry fairly cheap. Lowes also had no-frills countertop material in-stock, as well as the corner pieces, so I can go that route if all else fails. Meh. Nothing is really jumping out. I have a vision in my head of how I'd want it to look, just need to translate it into the physical realm with available materials. Regardless, I got more glue

Finished the last 16 feet of baseboard. Also picked up a load of lumber. The Decision has been made!
32' HIGH, 32" DEEP (about even with the pole) 2x4 framing topped by a butcher-block type of edge-glued wood product I found. The work surface will only be 2 feet deep, leaving 8 inches at the back for built-in shelving/utility riser. That'll then meet a tricky angled corner piece and then continue on the other wall. I'll try to illustrate.

Aye Vik! If you had a sense of smell, you'd appreciate that aspect too. Pine is light, and sappy, Oak smells burnt when cut or drilled, Cedar has a wholly unique smell.
This is all construction-grade pine (From Idaho forests) except all the appearance wood is knotty pine. I'm noot sure whether or not to stain these tops or not. Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's a scale shot

Looking amazing, will you be setting anything in solid, I mean like a hobby vice, or your Chopper2. With so much bench I would be tempted.
I have also been tempted to rig a fixed cordless drill, just an old one or maybe a cheap one, set it so could be used as maybe a lathe as well as sanding disc and grinding wheel, bit of imagination and could rig something to move the part onto the drill and have a drill press. Just thought as you are there!

Thanks Damo. I guess I just subconsciously just built my old workbench
MK. 2 it feels so ridiculously Texas-style, bigger than necessary sitting at it empty, but i'm sure i'll find ways to clutter it up.
@cam. Yeah, that was the idea. I have the Dremel workstation, which fulfill those roles, now i'm thinking it may benefit from it's own, uninterrupted bench. I dunno yet. Bench Vices for sure. I built the top to have a 4" overhang for tool mounts.

Thanks! You really should! Anything else just has limitations. I had a space that was 8 feet 2 inches wide, I filled 8 feet of it The lumber cost was around $100 and another $100 for the pre-glued, planed pine panels for the top $200 USD won't buy you much in the way of furniture.
Turns you on doesn't it? ...go on...be honest
