Really loving the two units of Warriors! Really great work here!
And to be honest Nurgle is my least favorite of the chaos Gods when it comes to painting/modelling, but even I'm keen to see what you do with the Daemon prince!

This is far from boring, the painting alone is enough to keep us all interested. And the nurgle conversion is just disgustingly good. Will be great to see it painted!!

Daemon Prince is looking *really* nice, the GS work is very well done and the model overall is mostly excellent. My only critique is that it looks really angry, like Blood God angry. From a fluffy perspective Papa Nurgle is much more mischievous and jovial. Sure, sometimes his minions engage in a bit of sport involving evisceration and blunt trauma, but overall he just wants to be your friend and share things (like Nurgle's Rot, for example).

Chaos Warhounds. I need 15-20 of these. Not going to use the regular models, the space wolves on these bases look WAY better. Probably going to paint them the same color as the pelts on my khorne warriors.

Also, white background pic of final demon prince. Color balance feels off, the pic makes it look darker than it actually is, but maybe that's just me and/or my screen.

Working on a Tzeentch sorceror on disk. Could double for a lord easily. Still need to do a few touchups and need to do the base.

Thanks! Bases are the one thing I'm generally happy with so far. Mostly need to work on the rest of my painting.

Speaking of which, here's a terrible Gorebeast Chariot. Very unhappy with how this turned out, but figured I should post my blehs as well as the ones I'm happier with. I assembled it all in one piece before painting, which was a HUGE mistake and incredibly dumb. I tried to get away with just using a lot of washes and go for a muddy look. I'm actually pretty happy with how the metal came out, but less happy with the bones and such. Overdid it a bit. Eh. Ah well. Also, I need to paint the edges of the base black!

Thanks! I'm very happy with my Prince, aside from maybe de-pinking the intestines a little.

Decided that what would do the chariot wonders is darkening the base substantially. It looks all dusty and washed out, not muddy. Contrast is needed. Will redo and repost later.

Mate, looking nice. I seriously like the armour on the warriors. Any chance of letting out the colours you used?

Sounds ambiguous but, the picture of the individual warrior with the raised sword. The helmet and breast plate look a little brassy. Looks style-ish.

Pretty sure I know which you're talking about.

The main brassy armor is the same as the Khorne Halberds. I used Vallejo Liquid Gold (Red Gold) and then a relatively heavy black oil wash (just pure black oil paint and mineral spirits). Super simple and I like the results, just takes a bit of fiddling with the wash to get the effect you want on each 'facet' of armor/metal.

The sword blade, chainmail, and horn tips are Liquid Gold (Silver), also with the black oil wash.

Horns are Reaper 09059 Aged Bone and 09060 Polished Bone.

Fur is (I believe) Reaper 09073 -> 09075 Chestnut Gold/Palomino Gold/Buckskin Pale. The palomino gold might be off upon closer inspection, been a while since I painted them.

Cape is Reaper 09187 -> 09189 Ultramarine Shadow/Ultramarine Blue/Ultramarine Highlight.

Darker bone bits were done with Reaper 09058 Bone Shadow, part of the same triad as the horns' color.

Leather bits were done with Reaper 09109 -> 09110 Ruddy Leather/Oiled Leather.

Shield was done with Reaper 09136 Walnut Brown. I honestly forget what blues I used for the little bolts. I had sanded down the shield and glued on a bent Symbol of Tzeentch, which was painted using Liquid Gold (Gold) for the metal, Reaper 09061 Linen White for the eye white, a dot of Vallejo Game Color 72051 Black (my FAVORITE pure black, which I can only really use for base edges and small bits), and a blue I have forgotten for the iris.

The base is made with Golden Mediums Coarse Pumice Gel combined with some cork broken off from a cork board for the shape, plus a skull because skulls. Painted it with a simple gray (believe it was Reaper 09087 Weathered Stone), then doused it with Burnt Sienna pigment that I added water to. Went heavy on the pigment for the Tzeentch warriors to try and warm up the bases in contrast to their colder cloaks.

Think that's everything!

(edit)

Oh, and the snow is just white glue + baking soda. More baking soda = frostier look, no real formula to it and no coloring needed.

All right, just for clarity, I wrote most of my message below after the end of Page 1, and was so excited about how cool the converted DP was that I ddin't notice the 2nd page until after I had submitted. So...I edited. Anyway...

Dude! Frikking hard core! That is what I thought (for like 2 seconds) about trying for the Nurgle DP I have been working my Nurgle WOC list around, but you have nailed it! Way to go man!

The ONLY thing I might think about (with the model I plan to work on once I get mine for Christmas...) is taking off the horns and putting the "Nurgle One Horn" in the center of his forehead. But hey, like I said, it looks fantastic. Okay, and one more: If I'm going to run him with the standard build Enchanted Shield, I am considering putting a Nurgle-y shield on his arm, just for the WYSIWYG factor.

I've never tried green stuff--is that GW product right there? I've use epoxy resin (the stinky, black sticky stuff used for fixing engines and stuff) on old Tyranid and Wood Elf models, but I've not yet tried my hand at the kind of sculpting you're doing. Is it hard?

Also, if I can ask another question: what material are you using for the stone bases? It looks very cool, and the increase in height can't be a bad thing either.

Anyway, I ordered the 40k Nurgle Daemon Prince from GW and am playing around with trying to put some wings on him--although "Daemonic Flight" might not actually require wings...magic, man. Anyway, I took the easy way out, but I am really impressed. Your other models look great too, so thanks for giving us a look at your Warriors. If you're curious, I'd be happy to try to put some photos on here too--never tried that either yet. That Nurgle gorebeast Chariot is coming along nicely, and now that I have looked at page 2, I see that yours is on there too! Now I see that I needed some Green Stuff....

Awesome--thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I've totally been thinking about adding a shield as well, just haven't really found a good one that's hit me yet. It would look perfect on his other arm for sure.

I like the horns as they are, but could totally see the Nurgle Horn (tm) on his forehead. Go for it!

I've never tried green stuff--is that GW product right there? I've use epoxy resin (the stinky, black sticky stuff used for fixing engines and stuff) on old Tyranid and Wood Elf models, but I've not yet tried my hand at the kind of sculpting you're doing. Is it hard?

I use very, very few GW products for modeling/painting as the alternatives are vastly cheaper for the same quality. Here's an example of third party Green Stuff you can get for much cheaper, it's the same stuff. As for how hard it is to use... that was my first attempt ever. Hopefully that will convince you it's easy. As others have pointed out while helping me with some ideas, the beauty of Green Stuffing a Nurgle character is that it's very dificult to do 'wrong'. Just gouge it up a bit, make some marks, get creative, and call it Nurgly. So if you ever want to try, that's the time.

A few cheap tools don't hurt. I picked up a metal sculpting toolset for about $15 from a craft store, and I made good use of the rounded ballish tool and the fine needle tip for detailing. Very handy. I used an emptied mechanical pencil to get the belly button, just a little push did the trick. The veins and sores are created by putting a tentacle or blob of green stuff on, then pushing the edges down with the needle tip tool. Once you try it a few times you'll see how easy it is to get that look. It's addicting, really. Just make sure you smooth all your edges and wet your fingers liberally to avoid fingerprints.

Also, if I can ask another question: what material are you using for the stone bases? It looks very cool, and the increase in height can't be a bad thing either.

Oven-bake clay! Also a first for me, I saw some at the craft store and figured "Hey, why not?" I kneaded out a block the size of the base, then took a rock I had found outside and rolled it over the surface carefully to get that texture. Then I cut along each of the grooves with the flat putty blade tool I had gotten with the set. I went almost but not quite all the way down. I cut out the center acid drip hole with the same tool, then added the three claw marks with the needle tool. I trimmed the edges with an xacto knife and used the base itself as a guide. See the marks on the base edge? Yeah, that was why that was a bad idea! Just use a marked paper template or something instead to save yourself that heartache. Anyway, quick bake on wax paper and it was good to go.

The nurgle slime is something super easy as well that you might find handy. Try it on a piece of cardboard to see for yourself. Take some super glue and pool a fair amount of it. Then take some wood glue and drizzle it on. Wait for it to dry. The wood glue will dry differently and create a wonderfully bumpy, slimy sort of texture that you can paint over easily.

Thank you! And currently trying to get a few more chariots together first, will touch up the Skullcrushers a bit soonish though. Got them on some pretty nice bases that I'm really happy with. I'm debating doing a black wash over the brighter ones. Will try to get a pic up to show what I mean soonish, but they're currently being hijacked as Bull Centaur proxies by a coworker. The ignominy...
