Datsyuk is one of those players I wished we had... he's one of those rare birds that you can put on the ice for any situation.

You may not have a shot at Dasyuk due to his no-trade clause, but the Wings will likely need to free up some cap space next season, so Zetterberg could be a possibility; provided you could offer them a decent deal.

Detroit has a good bit of cap space (prior to the agreement, not sure how much took a hit with it). At anyrate, Zetterburg is still under contract next year, and for 6 or 7 more years after that. Now Filpulla goes UFA next year as does Cleary and Miller. If the Sens can hang on and win tonight, that'll put them 4pts ahead of the Loafs in the standings. And IIRC, the Sens still have a game in hand on the Make-ya-Laughs as well!

Now that I've looked at the actual numbers, you're right, cap space isn't an issue; they've got about 20 million with 18 contracted players. That said, I would still think that trading away Zetterburg, and possibly Franzen, for either talent or picks would be a good decision given that the Wings are on the front end of rebuilding.

Its also worth noting that someone is going to make them pay for Kindl and Brunner.

Rebuilding isn't that big of an issue. Their "farm" is one of the best established in the AHL. It's just a question of deciding which of the NHL'ers to let go, and which of the AHL'ers to activate. Zetterberg isn't going anywhere. He's the captain of the team for a reason. The Mule could probably be let go. When he's on fire he's amazing, but his cold patches are to often and to long. I think they should send Abdelkader either back to the Griffons, or opt to let him find another team, and give Tatar a permanent spot on the team. The best Abs has done all season was be a wall for Datsyuk to bounce goals off of. We've got way to many other talented players fighting for a spot to let him stay where he's at.

The past week had been March Bleak for my team... Went from 28th all the way down the 62nd out of 175'ish odd teams. So much for making money this year!

The Blackhawks are playing great hockey, I hope they show that same energy tonight against the Ducks, who are arguably the second best team in the NHL, but the Penguins are a close 3rd.

I think the sacking of King's Landing has begun with how badly my House Targaryen team has been doing... I've now dropped a staggering 34 spots in barely 8 days >.<
