I need to get used to how hockey deals with wins and losses... I feel like the Senators have gotten more than 9 losses this season, but they're 17-9...
Also it's a game day tonight, depending on what I'm doing I might be watching it (probably painting and assembling while I watch the Sens whoop on some Jersey Devils )
Edit: Can someone explain wins/losses/points to me?
Do you get 2 points for a win, 0 for a loss, and 1 from an OT game regardless of the result? And OT wins or losses don't count towards your w/l record for the season?

In the NHL, two (2) points are awarded for a win(in regulation/OT win/Shoot-out win), and one (1) point is awarded for an overtime or shoot-out loss.
A win is a "win" regardless if it's in regulation, OT or shootout.
An OT loss get's it's own column and I believe it's just the same as a loss except for tiebreakers/seedings for the playoff matches.

So looking at the Blackhawks and the Sens, the Blackhawks have 24 wins, 3 losses, and 3 OT, they've gotten 24 wins in both regulation, OT, and shootouts, 3 losses in regulation, and 3 losses in OT or shootouts. Right?
I guess if I add the Sens losses with their OT it makes more sense that I think they've lost more than they have...
What a strange strange thing lol...

You got it.
I don't like that you'd still get a point if you lose in OT or the shootout. That's why it's called a 3pt game and over time can wreck havoc in the final tally.
I remember one year, the blues had the last playoff spot (8th seed), but the 6th/7th seed had more points... even though the Blues had actual more wins. That's a big deal, because the 8th seed plays the number one seed.

I would be okay if both teams were awarded a single point in an OT/shootout instead of the 1 or 2 points... That way it forces you to play for the win in regulation, but I guess that's the competitive wargamer in me.

The only reason that seed matters is ice advantage. Who you happen to play, assuming all parties are professional athletes, is not relevant at all.

Detroit is on a rampage right now. Hope they can bring the heat to San Jose and really close this road trip out on a great note. 15 games to go for the season for them, hope they can keep the pressure up. Their in good position for the play-offs, but it's not secure yet.
Excellent performance from the Wild tonight. I was able to go to the game with my parents and it was watch, despite the two very loud drunk women that were sitting next to us screaming through pretty much the whole third period+overtime.
Iggy is off to Puddsburgh. I think their chances of getting their asses handed to them by the Blah Kawks in the final have just improved....if they can get past the Laffs of course.

Pens are now really stacked! Can they roll out 3/4 offensive lines?
Well, if everything goes right I think it'll be two lethal lines, with a 3rd line that can chip in. Personally I like this setup and think it'll be what eventually shakes out:
Just watched the Ducks/Hawks VOD. Dear Lord, it was like all of 4 Blackhawk forwards (Toews, Kane, Saad, Stalberg) realized they were playing a hockey game.
But, if nothing else, the officiating remained consistently inconsistent/terrible.

And the Blackhawks win another one. In a shootout, but still a win. and with only 5 regulation losses they could be the first team to finish a season with fewer than 10 regulation losses.
Plus the Blackhawks have a goal differential of +43 (119 goals to 76 goals against). The only team with more goals is the Penguins (123) but they only have a differential of +39 which is still damn good.
I can not wait til the playoffs start, this is getting exciting.

to be fair though, I wouldn't really count a sub 10 loss season in one where just about half the games of a normal season were played.
Sens vs. Flyers tonight, hopefully the boys can hold up against them, the game against the Bruins was a rough game to watch... each team had like 50 shots on goal, over 40 in the first period... It was an intense game, but the fething Bruins goal was a solid wall for most of the game.
Also: I've been playing NHL 13 as a goalie, and let me tell you... I'm fething terrible at it, especially in a 1 on 1 situation. I was doing practice last night after losing 9-2 against the Maple Leafs and Jason Spezza (in the game) beat me out 5 times for every 1 time I stopped him... Granted at least 5 of his goals in practice were because I blocked/deflected it, and it gave him more chances to shoot again.

The problem I have playing that game in a Be A Star Mode goalie, is that I'll face 50 shots, let ONE go by, and I'll get major dings to all my scores for the game!! It's the worst if you do a player and just have him go through the draft, so you definitely have to play the minors tourney right from the start... man that kills the draft status, its shenanigans I tell ya!
I'm pulling for Chicago tonight. In a perfect world, I'd like both them and the Blues to lose, but it's not a perfect world, and in the play off hunt, the fewer points the Blues get, the better for the Wings.
