Toy Vault, Inc. announced an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox licensing that will provide Toy Vault with the rights to create table-top games, plush, and novelty items for the cult hit TV series Firefly created by Joss Whedon. The first Toy Vault Firefly items are expected to ship to retail this spring.

It was 10 years ago that Whedon’s witty attempt to create an outer space "western" starring Nathan Fillion as Captain Mal Reynolds of the space freighter Serenity, a ship that prowled the frontiers of the galaxy where the rule of law was only occasionally enforced. Though it lasted for just one 14-episode season Firefly inspired a legion of fans, many of whom adopted the brown dusters worn by the soldiers of the Independence faction in the series, which earned these adoring fans the appellation, "Browncoats."

Toy Vault has plans to launch multiple tabletop Firefly games along with decorative pillows, and a line of mini-plushes of the entire crew of Serenity.

Bit late for this, possibly, but be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of this.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I'm kind of excited to see where this goes, as, me being me, I only got into the whole 'firefly' thing a month or two ago (about the same time I got a netflix subscription), which of course, is about 5 years after the whole craze flared into existence and slowly faded to obscurity...

Seriously, I have a problem of 'missing the boat' with pretty much everything, it's not some sort of hipster-only-into-stuff-that-no-one-else-is-into-anymore-because-uncool-stuff-is-cool thing, it's just I never seem to know about things until about 2 years after they are no longer considered 'recent'

So right now I'm really digging the firefly 'verse, so it'd be nice to see something come out of it.

So this is the rights to the TV show as opposed to the film

(which was where the RPG bought it's rights from),

Wonder what they've got planned, Boardgame, TTG or RPG

Actually, A Mass Effect styled videogame would work in theory.

I hope that the models are decent and they come in 28mm!

Toyvault seems to make primarily plushies: http://www.toyvault.com/cthulhu/index.html

They have rights to farscape also and have only made Dominar Rigel.

They've made a few board games but I don't see them making any miniatures or even action figures, I suspect they won't be messing with the "counts as" miniatures or any rpgs.

Maybe we'll get a cool board game out of it tho.

I would like to see a few more figures for Farscape.

Between those two shows, they were really good looking shows.

Would really love to see a Firefly 2 type of series, where it would pick up a few years later with some other stuff going on out there. So much wasted talent, and stuff they could have done.

Working on my Salvage crews based on Mel and a few others.

Base Mel from Reaper, then adding in a second crew from a rival faction led by Boris.

My other stuffs waiting for the workbench...

Who was the one with the 28mm scale Firefly model? Thought it was a scratchbuild or something.

I'd buy 2 if I could get them.

Yes, and to paraphrase a Castle episode (where Nathan dressed up as a "space cowboy" for Halloween) - "It's been 10 years, let it go."

It had its time in the sun. That time is now passed. Let it go and move on.

I'd rather have a Christina Hendricks plushie. Life sized, of course. With full detail from her episode, with removable clothing and full detail.

Kaylee is a close second, but you can't deny the allure of a well-endowed redhead.

That must of been around the time of there 10 years round table, and the cast all saying they love to know where there character would of ended up. I think the line was, a joke. The fact he still gose to cons, makes me think that to.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Yes, it was a joke, delivered by the character's young daughter in a cold opening.

Anyway, don't expect much from Toy Vault given their history.
