The maces may not be great, but I'd be happy if they just changed the heads of them to hammers. Hammers, wolverine claws, missile pods, energy fists, shields, rotor cannons, and heavy weapons...I'm good with that!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Found a good article about Deadzone, one of the podcast crews went over to mantic towers and played the game/ did a review:

http://thehobbynomicon.weebly.com/1/post/2013/08/deadzone-an-overview.html

Quite a good introduction to the basic rules of the game.

Maces are bad. Should have used some form of maul or cudgel instead.

Not separating the shoulder pads is a bad, bad idea.

Only other little issue is the claws. Really think they should have stuck with the singular blade.

Happy to see they are using a ball and socket on the shoulder joint though. Good decision.

If you want a melee weapon that makes sense, give them a demolition tool.

Why a singular blade? Not being argumentative, just curious. Sgt Howlett/Howler (Wolvie) has the 3-claws, so maybe the Peacekeepers with claws will be hitting fluff as his elite warrior bodyguards. Singular blade works, don't get me wrong. But I like the triple claws too, especially with their nod to Marvel in the process. Mantic strikes me as a Borderlands style tabletop game company, in the explicit sense that they make references and pokes at pop culture (splinter, rip torn, Cthulhu, wolverine, etc etc). I think it's a strong foot to stand on, as it pulls in more people with a minimal risk of potentially pushing people away. I expect those peacekeepers to sell by the droves.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Shoulder pads look to be integrated into the arms. Oh well.

What? Why is that an issue? These aren't Space Marines where you have different chapters with different insignias? What on earth is the problem with integrated?

I'd imagine that (some) folk were hoping to use them as counts as Marines

and having separate pads would make conversions much easier

(and a separate pad also makes the figure more pose-able, if its fixed on the arm you're restricted at what angle the arm can be put)

Emphasis mine.

As noted previously, the separate shoulder pads would have made cross sales easier. But for me the above bolded, underlined, and italicized bit is the real issue.

Those renders look amazing! There is also a nice selection of components so hopefully they can squeeze most of them onto the sprue.

Not so keen on the head design though, not entirely sure what I don't like but the basic enforcers seem to have a better styled helmet.

I like em, I think i could do a little better organizing the parts to find room for 5 pair of shoulder pads on there. I agree that the maces should be made into electro batons or some other weapon.

I'm from the future. The future of space

The renders do look good, but after seeing the Basileans' journey to their final form in hard plastic, I am no longer optimistic about these. It doesn't seem to matter what the concept art or renders look like because there's no consistency in the final product.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Hmm. While I don't mind the maces, they aren't my first choice for melee weapons for these guys. I'd rather have arm mounted pile driver units. That would be way more badass.

I like everything I see, overall. I think I see what look like 3 helmet options. It looks like the standard one they're all pictured with, one looks like it has a comms antennae on the side of it. I hope that one also has an external targeter mounted over the eye. The thid looks like it might be an open helmet kind of like the one the Enforcer Captain has. I'm fine with that. I imagine there'll probably be x5 standard helmets and x1 with targeter and x1 open.

Things I question: why are there a pair of empty right hands? I don't see the purpose to that as there aren't any left hands weilding weapons other than the Plasma Fist and the claws. I also don't like how small the ammo clip is for the rifle. Way too small, but that's easily fixed with a little help from Anvil Industries.

Things I'd like to add: pile drivers, mountable to either arm. A reinforced helmet for the shield guy, kind of like the one the regular Enforcers with shields have. A missile launcher of some sort, either hand held or mounted. A heavy pistol. They've got the left arm with the single blade, they need the pistol to go with it.

Honestly, while I'm not a huge fan of the mace designs, I want them to stay in as I think they'll convert easily into shock mauls.
These guys would look pretty badass holding that reinforced shield and shock mauls ready to go out and MAKE some peace.

Yeah, I'll agree, the maces just feel out of place on them. Some kind of fist-mounted hydraulic-press would be interesting.

The maces look too Forge Father-esqe to me. I could also see doing them as studded batons reminiscent of police batons. But given the style of the rest of the unit, maces feel off.

Other that that, they look fething amazing, I love the basic power glove (and that they are actually holding their guns). Definitely going in for a swack of these on the second survey if they are an option.

I'd like more police style batons than maces as well.

I know I'll be going in for a second squad at least come round two (we'll be using them more for boardgaming than open warfare in my house).

I was surprised that my son liked them- he HATES human figures worse than me, and he was actually interested in having some to play with. Of course he said the Tyranids would eat them and our reptilian armies would finish them off, but that's the first time I've ever heard him impressed by a human soldier. Huh.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Just received the Season 3 newsletter..

A New Season Is About To Begin!

DreadBall Season 3 is here!

The first season of DreadBall brought the Galaxy’s Greatest Sport to your tabletop and a host of characterful MVPs and Teams to your painting stations. Along came Season 2, introducing new players, new rules, coaching staff and cheerleaders to the fray.

Now, it’s the turn of DreadBall Season 3 – and things are getting big!

5 Giants

DreadBall Season 3 introduces massive tri-hex miniatures called GIANTS. Bought like MVPs, Giants count as two models rather than one and stomp around the battlefield creating mayhem and devastation wherever they tread/stomp/roll.

Each Giant gets its own highly detailed miniature and comes supplied with a clear acrylic tri-hex base.

4 Teams

Four new teams take to the pitch with Season 3: The Nameless, Asterians, Zees and the mighty Teratons. This takes the total number of teams up to twelve, each characterful and different in their own right.

Which one is your favourite? Let us know on the Mantic Facebook page!

3 MVPs

Rounding out the new entries in the Season 3 book are Mellisandra, Riller and The Praetorian – brand new characterful additions for your team, each with unique abilities and a detailed backstory.

1 DreadBall Ultimate

The Season 3 Rulebook contains the rules for DreadBall Ultimate – the DGB-branded multi-team game. Between 3-6 teams can take to the DreadBall Ultimate Arena to play ball and games are fun and frantic – particularly with two balls flying around the pitch!

Getting ready for Ultimate is easy with the DreadBall Ultimate boxed set which contains a durable, non-slip rubber Ultimate Arena gaming mat, a deck of 54 Ultimate Cards, Ultimate Counters, Season 3 Rulebook and four DreadBall Giants - that’s the Big Mech, Barricade, Nameless Spawn and Alpha Simian – and yes, if you add up the contents of this set it equates to pretty much half price, so there’s no reason not to pick it up!

PLUS MORE!

Over the coming days and weeks we’re going to be covering Season 3 in-depth on the blog with a detailed look at all the new models, new rules and the simply bonkers DreadBall Ultimate. Stay tuned!

Anyone else think that the 2nd pic down looks like that board game they are playing on the ship in Star Wars?

Did that survey just end? I can't keep track of all the Mantic surveys.

Yes!

Also, why does everything in this thread look so good, and so much in the Kings of War thread look terrible?

Is there still a survey open for this? Too many Surveys from KS projects, and way too many of them from Mantic!
