If they go ahead with fishmen or lizards then I guess I will finally have to plunge whole hog into Kings of War.

I'd be more interested seeing in Atlanteans or naga than fishmen or lizardmen. Or both, with an Atlantean-naga hybrid (read: mermaid) reclining on a palanquin to lead them.

I'd just be happy with Mantic's spin on some repitlian/ scaled rank and file. I would hope they'd bring something unique to the table.

Ideally we'd get mobs and piles of hard plastic Mantic guys with Mierce big stuff to support them.

I just want a scaly Mantic army of some sort.

Rather then a straight port of lizardman ala GW I would prefer a race of evil alignment large snakemen like the one's from confrontation, human barbarians and a very evil looking lizardman hybrid.

I would also like them to make a book with differnt races in that are to few for a stand alone army but are able to allie with one of the allignments. For example:
The Arachnids, a race of giant spider/human hybrids of evil alignment.
Cloud Giants, an ancent race of intelligent but now dwindled number of giants of Good Allignment.

Have you not heard of Ophidia, land of the honoured walking dead, necromancers and their shadowy cold-blooded leaders?

I have indeed, love the KoW fluff. If they do something like this then it would be there hopefully!

Total Wargamer have now got a load of the Deadzone stuff for pre-order, at 25% reduction:

http://totalwargamer.co.uk/mantic-games/deadzone.html

Characters for £3.75, and the box game for less than £50 which isn't too shabby.

Not sure how I feel about starters being cheaper outside of the kickstarter, before the 25% off.

Individual starters weren't good value during the KS. I'll start to get irritated if strike team/BOGOF/other bundles are better value at retail, which I'm pretty sure they aren't/won't be. Strike Team was $150 right? 5 discounted starters are $120 so $30 for the terrain and all the individual chars and other bits and pieces... we got great value there imo.

The discounted retail faction starters looks to be decent value though, with 12 models plus a faction deck for ~$24 (looking at marauders).

Individual characters are the same price at retail as the add-ons too. Makes me a tiny bit nervous but we'll see how it plays out.

Totalwargamer is NOT a company I would recommend anyone deal with. Truth be told, I'm a little disappointed mantic are still selling them stock. (In fact, I'm disappointed any wargames company is.)

Totalwargamer has recently wiped out and rebuilt their facebook page. - It was filled with complaints about missed shipping dates on it. For a while the only reference to the store you could find was a group titled "Total Wargamer complaints."

Orders regularly take 60+ days to arrive, if they arrive at all - please note that paypal refunds for missing orders are only commonly available for up to 45 days.

Their phone number is nothing an automated message that says. "Please email us."

Most damning of all in my mind, is their behaviour with refunds. After fed up of waiting for a delivery after 60 days, I asked for a refund for part of a part shipped order that never was delivered, it was cancelled with the missing items vanishing from the online copy of my order form.

2 WEEKS later, still no refund.

I send an email, this was the reply:

Hello <ME>

The refund has been done for you - it was made to card ending: *****

Refunds can take a little longer than the period we stated - please see this link: http://www.ehow.com/info_8511456_do-credit-cards-long-refund.html

<TOTALWARGAMERGUY>
TW

Other people have received this reply with the same weblink. - Incidentally, I talked to my credit card company, 'a little longer' is a matter of up to 3 days, not 14. I eventually managed to recover my cash via my credit card company.

Sure, you can blame the distributors / suppliers for the delays in sending out products. The whole refund behaviour? In my opinion, that's entirely on them.

Seriously folks, in my personal opinion, don't touch Total Wargamer with a barge pole.

I order Mantic stuff from TWG regularly, always arrives in a week.

Obviously, don't order GW product from them unless you have a masochistic streak.

Compel, I've only ever heard that about GW orders (although apologies if you've been through the wringer with them with another company's stuff!)

Ordered from them at least half a dozen times and its never taken more than a couple of days to arrive, and that includes Mantic.

That goes back to their response when dealing with the refund.
Is dealing with a company that acts like that, really worth an extra 75p saving on a character model against giftsforgeeks, wayland, firestorm or any other UK companies?

Or heck, mantic themselves!

When you buy hundreds of models...

I'd much rather give the money straight to Mantic (or any manufacturer) so they get the biggest margin, but I assume they can't offer discounts without the retailers getting irate. If I can choose between paying 100% or 80%, I'm going to choose 80% every time. I like models far too much to get 20% less than I otherwise would, since all savings are invested straight back into buying more models ; p

Since this is News and Rumors, any news or rumors about a holiday grab bag by mantic again this year? It seems to be a yearly thing and I kind of want to get one this time around if they do it again

Holiday grab bag hey? Just had a quick google, sounds like a messenger bag stuffed with random mantic minis, at a good price? I can see lots of Basileans in them... but probably count me in ; )

It is really the DZ box set plus 3 starters. Looking at the Warstore, DZ is $90 MSRP (x1), and starters are $35 (x3), and characters are $8 (x9). Strike Zone is $277 full retail, so ~$208 with a standard 25% discount from your friendly local no sales tax internet store, excluding the digital stuff.

Yes. Hence more awesome! Pop culture wouldn't lie to me.

So, if you collect several of the boxes, you can combine them to make a life-sized Robocop 2014 edition? Gotcha!

I thought that looked like robocop... Thats... a thing? That *could* be pretty cool. I have reservations, however. We'll see. Hope for the best and all that.

Oh, I hadn't seen the actual "christmas bag" before. That's pretty neat! It was last year, they had a box of stuff for something low end like $25-50 and it had a pretty solid chunk of manticware for the cost.

This is the list from last year

Forgefather Jotunn Heavy Hailstorm Cannon
5 Stormrage Veterans
Orx Marauder Raptor
Dwarf Ironbelcher and crew
Undead Revenant sprue (10 models)
Zombie sprue (3 models)
Ghoul sprue (2 models)
Orc Ax Troop sprue (3 models)
2 Orx Marauder Command sprues (4 models, 2/sprue)
2 Goblin Spitters sprues (10 models, 5/sprue)
Elf Spearman sprue (10 models)
Elf Bowman sprue (10 models)

Curious to see what, if anything, they come up with this winter

Yeah, the potential for the Christmas grab bag's value went downhill this year with the high likelihood of plastic MAA being included in them....

So yeah, I'm a bit annoyed that add-ons on the kickstarter at this point aren't showing any savings. The main pledge level does obviously but if I'd known they were going to sell the characters at cost I wouldn't have added them to my terrain order. I'm really, really hoping that the terrain was actually at least 20% off.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, terrain is $40 for 4 sprues and an accessory sprue.

http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/pre-order/deadzone/product/deadzone-scenery-upgrade-pack.html

So, kickstarter price of $25 + $5 accessory sprue was 25% discount. And you got flexibility to get more or less accessory sprues depending on what you were after.

Also, for the starters, keep in mind that the KS version of the starters has more minis in it.

Well I missed that but am happy. After looking at it it's closer to 33% off since I should be getting around $300 for $185. The faction add-ons and non-ks exclusive characters both retailing at the ks price had me a bit worried.

And 2 more mini's in say, the Reb faction, doesn't make up for the cost difference. Since you can get the set for $28 from your local friendly internet retailer I'm getting 2 less models for 7 less dollars. With Mantics general cost I'm still coming out ahead cash wise. Basically it's 1-2 minor figures missing.

The Dreadball Charaters retailed at KS prices too. That seems to be the way of things with characters.

One thing to remember about the faction boxes though, you get 3 or so extra troopers from the KS package, and it turns out we will be getting A LOT more Enforcers (10 more) so that's a good thing.

No idea how they are going to do some of the Enforcer add-ons though. If we ordered Burst Laser/Incinerator models, are we gonna get the old Burst Laser Model or are we gonna get a plastic sprue? Are they gonna give us a credit back on the 2nd survey? That stuff all has me confused.

So back to the hint by Mantic about Dreadball Extreme.....thoughts on New teams.

Yndij?

Sorak?

Something yet to be seen like Rhino people?

1-2 actually depending on the faction Earth Dragon. Except for the Enforcers because of the hard plastic thing which is cool for those that backed for Enforcers. No complaints there.

The faction starters were also 2 for $50 in the survey, to meet the deal of the Forge fathers aesterians expanded universe bundle.

I stand corrected. I thought that only applied to the expanded universe. In that case it would have been silly not to pick two up. Which now I'll likely be doing on the second survey

My memory is pretty poor, but I'm like 85% sure that was a thing that happened

What I want to know, is if the hard plastic enforcer sprues work out, what they'll be wanting for them and if we can order them via second survey

I'd like to order lots, but what would I do with all of them with a couple boxes of 12 Enforcers already coming and then 20 or so more....That's 44 Enforcers in a game that is set up for me to be sending out 4-6 a battle.
