@Alph: I don't know, it's not a style I like, but other people do seem to like it or I wouldn't have had plenty of eager buyers for my marauders/plague.
I think it works okay with the Molochs since the hands are sized normally and the faces are quite demonic, they're not trolls by a long shot. There are some points on the Molochs where Slyvain seems to have done his own thing rather than sticking to the concept art, and the end result is that I actually like the models.
I had a chat with Slyvain and he explained that he follows concept art pretty closely, basically making a 3d carbon copy of the 2d concept art for the most part, so if you want to pin down the source it's either Heath Foley's style or some kind of art direction asking him to make the concept art with those specific proportions (tiny legs/ long torso/long arms/giant hands). Note that with the trolls, the original concept art was thrown out and replaced with a new small legs/ long arms design, so it is possible there is some sort of effort to make that the default style for all monstrous/ barbaric miniatures that mantic produces.
Oh, and one hilarious extra - during a seminar someone mentioned the "lego hands" tooling split being kinda sucky. Ronnie completely agreed and said he'd kept telling Stew it was a bad idea then encouraged everyone in the room to go and mob Stew after the seminar and tell him it was a bad idea.

As a slight tangent during the chat, Jake Thornton let slip that he's personally making his own wee board game to sell soon. Based on Greek myth, you take control of one of several of the ancient heroes and go off to do quests, like slay the minotaur.
Finally, someone is tackling Greek Myth in the tabletop or board gaming industry. I hope he has enough time to finish writing Billy and the Cloneasaurus while he's at it.
I am super-excited about their new contract with the hard plastic manufacturing company. Yes, I'm hard for hard plastic.

I think I'll be in for DKH4 and Warpath to varying degrees. I may minimally back the other two to support mantic but I've more or less sworn off non-undead fantasy models and have no other dreadball models (except incoming MVPs from strikex2). Maybe for the fantasy terrain if it's awesome, although I'm a lot more comfortable busting out fantasy terrain with the plaster and the flock and so on.
Brokkrs good you say? Sweet, we're gonna need them to balance out super expensive forge guard ;D

The way I understand it DHK 1-3 are more along the lines of two smallish forces per side vying over the loot in a dungeon? I've heard that DKH4 is more along the lines of hero-centric. I'm sure the folks in the know can better elaborate.
Having seen the stuff the battle systems guys have come up with... it would be amazing if Mantic partnered up with them to unleash DKH4 with a slew of amazing card terrain, although mantic is making pretty strong strides in establishing plastic terrain so they may just stick to their guns as it were.
I'm glad they seem to have done good work on the Brokkrs, any elite-heavy faction should have a cheaper troop option to aid in list building and variety. I Imagine they've been done with quite a bit of character, and those poses look dynamic from what I can see.
Yup, can't wait to see the wife's expression when I open my box filled with Deadzone terrain sprues. "Why exactly did you need this many?"
Damn Brokkr sculpts are really good. If Mantic don't royally screw up the Forge Guard I'm going to be over budget (and in further marital trouble) when Survey 2 rolls around.

I'll have to take a similar picture when I get mine. If that's 4 battlezones, I at least have hope that I'll be able to physically contain my order within my hobby space. Barely.
I may be over or underestimating here... but I think I'm gonna end up with 3 of those big brown boxes. Wife will probably be cross, tis true

I'm only staring down the barrel of 12 if I recall... Ordered 2 ruined sets I think. Of course I've got a bit coming from mars attacks too, depending on how I like the scenery and how far I think it'll stretch I may convert some MA stuff into DZ tiles but we'll see most of that MA stuff was pretty awesome too.

They expect DB Extreme and KoW to be small, and DKH 4 and Warpath to be insanely massive in terms of total funding given what they have planned for the last two. Possibility of much shorter-length kickstarters in future, they know they have a mature KS audience at this point that doesn't want things to drag out and likes to keep it simple. Probably no faction swapouts in future kickstarters, Mars Attacks credit system wasn't popular (I liked it, though).
Faction swapouts are a bandaid. If people want them, you're bundling the wrong things together. A game like Dreadball should be a bundle of the core module (rules, board, dice, referee, etc) and two team modules. Or, if you're joining an established league, you buy a bundle of the core module and one team module. The core content, the male Corporation and the Marauders should not all be treated as a single entity, because it's just as obnoxious when Mantic does it as when Games Workshop does it for the Space Marines.

I don't know if you're being serious above (I'd give it about 50/50) but you might want to check out the Wargods line, specifically the "of Olympus" version.

Its not even close to 50/50. pretty sure billy and the cloneasaurus is a simpsons reference where someone (I want to say apu, maybe skinner) writes a book called Billy and the Cloneasaurus and its pretty much Jurassic park.If I am right how can I remember this but not what I did this morning.
@Carlos13th I get that all the time. I can tell you all kinds of pointless facts about useless things, but I struggle to remember other things I would actually consider important or at least useful in the present context. =/

No, I was not being serious. I haven't seen someone try to cram such an overdone idea into such a full market since Chris Valera last mentioned zombies. But I wish him the best of luck*.
And I pledged for Wargods of Olympus. I'm looking forward to my minis.
*I wonder which niche of a niche he'll try to fill: minotaurs with hooves or minotaurs with feet. Hooves is pretty glutted, but feet don't sell. Unless the minotaur has breasts.

I am suffering from a head injury that genuinely messed with my memory to the point where I forgot why i was at the doctors the other day. Yet this I remember.
Thanks very much for the write-ups guys, is very much appreciated!
Been putting together some bits from the box, and overall have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. Enforcers are nice, I'm somewhat less enamoured with them simply because I've done lots of similar 'masked guys in armour' miniatures from Infinity and Sedition Wars recently, but can imagine lots of people are going to love them. But, what's really got me is the Plague guys - really enjoying putting them together! Especially the Stage 3, who as Carlos13th said look like guys who have forever missed leg day Really characterful though, make me think of the mutants from Fallout and I'm going to paint them appropriately. The only down-point is that it seems like you are constrained with miniature posing (they are slot fit with the arms and heads), although I'm sure they would be easy to convert.
Special characters are nice as well, the Enforcer Captain is great and probably my favourite miniature of that range.
Had a good read of the rulebook and am again am impressed by the overall quality of it. Background is very cool, it's got a real feeling of cynicism & satire (think of Paul Verhoeven's 'Robocop' or 2000AD) going through it and I've really enjoyed reading it. You can certainly tell that Jake Thornton was involved with Necromunda all those years ago, the ghost of that game is running through so many elements of the way the game design works and seems to fit together.
Overall really impressed - up till now Dreadball has been my favourite Mantic game, so much fun and a really well designed game, but I think if Deadzone continues to get supported it's definitely got the potential to give that game a run for its money.

To my complete shock, I now have proof that the courier shipment notifications are going out to US addresses.
Due to the magic of international shipping, Fed Ex is claiming that it will be picked up on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. Although I'm still a bit confused about when it'll actually leave the warehouse, because of the Friday video update...

The thing was, at the time, I thought I was being pretty rational with terrain buying. "Oh, I'll just get the small 4 battlezone set. 1 fortification, 1 landing pad, 2 ruins."
So I basically have another 25%'s worth coming in the second shipment.
