What about the Plague Mortars? Is it possible to confirm as I'm definitely short of 40mm bases, but I'm not sure how many.

I think Ronnie addressed the 'missing dice' in his video a few days ago - I'm pretty sure you'll be getting the missing dice down the road, and possibly something extra too? Maybe?

I'm drowning in terrain tiles here!

It's so they fit into the bases - it's not ideal, though, and we're going to stop it happening. Personally, I'd just get a modelling knife, trim them down and texture the base so it's not an issue any more

This is extremely sloppy.

Sorry guys, but as soon as you needed to do this to make the integrated bases work, the integrated bases should have been reevaluated. This would have been avoided by using slot tabs ("slotta" tabs) or by a peg on the bottoms of the feet. I know it's not a quick or easy thing to change (nor cheap, at least in terms of the already existing models) so I appreciate why it hasn't been done. I don't want to seem as though I am being only critical.

Integrated bases are a headache for anyone (Category A) who wants to use: Resin scenic bases, Clear bases, Custom hand-made basing (hand-made Scenic bases, as it were).

Integrated bases are generally favored by people (Category B) who: Want to glue the figures down and paint the base a single color, Folks who are used to basing on washers or the like (generally historicals-heavy gamers).

Slotted-style tabs are easier for everyone because:1. They are easier to remove for the folks from Category A above. Usually accomplished with snips and minimal filing. 2. They are easy to cut down (in half is usually a good match to most integrated bases) for the folks from Category B above. Cutting the tab in half gives a larger surface area for gluing down to washers or MDF disks, and more freedom for customizing the bases thereafter. Again, this is usually accomplished with snips and minimal filing.

Slotted style basing makes it easier to include more basing preferences. That is the best argument against integrated basing that I can think of right now.

Personally, I hate integral bases. They are completely outmoded and in this day and age of custom basing, a giant hassle.

Still no update on my shipping information. I usually don't get into the first few waves for stuff like this so I'm not worried. I've also got 5 warpath enforcers to work on, so I'm hardly out of stuff to do. Especially that I've now determined that Enforcers are the perfect size for magnets

Oh man feth slotted bases. Just give me a couple of feet I can glue down. Having said that, slotted bases are *slightly* easier to work with than the dreaded integrabases.

Why are you going to magnetise them?

Of course then you have to do gap filling around the base, usually beyond that which yoiu have to do with mantics base system. So... yeah I don't like either

I love going to town on scenic bases and I have to say imho, that the Mantic bases are my least favourite of all the basing methods out there.

Personally I hate the plastic their moulded in, it seems pva resistant (All tho that maybe my glue? I use Army painters stuff) I find it really problematic to get a smooth edge where they come off the sprues aswell.

The more I think off it the more im inclined to cut the tabs of all my figures and go for standard slotta bases or go for the 30mm option I mentioned earlier.

Grr Mantic why do you make it so hard for me to love you?

sorry for the rant :(

I do not mind the bases, but getting a smooth edge, as Edlowe points out, is very difficult to do. Am currently painting up my Plague, they are a joy to do but am still finding the odd mould line that I missed in the pre paint clean up. And still trying to find out a way to clean the rebel humans bemould-lined face without ruining the model, curses!

Normally, I'm not bothered by the integral bases. The only time they've annoyed me so far has been with the Corporate Heavy Weapons Teams. I still haven't put them together because I want the crew to be removable and I'm not sure how I'm going to go about doing that and have a scenic base for them as well.

My suggestion would be a base with cutouts for the heavy weapon team.

Oh, God, isn't that the truth!

A Public Safety Announcement for anyone who hasn't received their Deadzone box yet.

This is what it's going to look like if you order lots of battlezones:

then after digging sprues out, at the bottom:

This is 4 Core, 2 Landing Pad, 2 Fortification, and the bonus terrain. 72 sprues, none of them labeled.

There's another 10 sprues still inside the strike zone box.

So it's going to be 7 or 8 square sprues per battle zone, plus one connector sprue. You're going to want to make piles.

That wonderful invoice sheet you're going to get is going to say things like
Core Worlds Battlezone (Scenery 1x4, Scenery 2A x 2, Scenery 2B x2, Connectors x1)
and that's it.

There are two airports relatively close to Essex, they are south end and stansted. Essex is just outside of london. Its likely that there is a sorting office of some kind there.

I'm not James, but I'll take a swing at this one.

It is a failure in the QC process.

Edit: You mean platforms like the ones on the lower left figure here were intentional?

I would have preferred the poor QC excuse as opposed to intentionally poor design.

It comes down to the round integral bases thing - also, I think the assumption is that people are going to texture their bases, as they look a bit odd without texture. It's interesting, actually; the integral bases come from Mantic's background as a supplier of cheap bulk troops. Ronnie's dream has always been big armies that are quick to put together, and the integral base helps with that for low- to mid-level hobbyists. Now we're moving into smaller skirmish game type stuff, and higher quality minis, it might be the time to rethink those bases - it's just something that's so natural to us, I don't think we've thought about it. I'll raise it at a creative design meeting.

I'm afraid I'm not sure - I got booted out of the warehouse as they didn't need me, so I'm back at the office.

A likely story, I reckon you were booted out due to all the packing errors. Apropos of nothing, thanks for the bonus core sprue.

I'll have you know I was extra careful to only give less than what people ordered. (Kidding! I was actually really meticulous about getting orders 100% correct.)

Totally true! We're not getting ours until the rest have shipped. We want to make sure everyone's got everything they need - it would suck if some stock got damaged and we ended up one copy short somehow, and we'd all just finished building ours. We've got a digital rulebook and a faction starter each, and that's it for now!

The 70s are making a comeback! Haven't you heard? Afros are back in, Saturday Night Fever's getting a remake, the Bee Gees are cool again.

Okay, most of that might be a lie.

It's so they fit into the bases - it's not ideal, though, and we're going to stop it happening. Personally, I'd just get a modelling knife, trim them down and texture the base so it's not an issue any more

Maybe... getting rid of integrated bases will help there?

Yep, it definitely would. But they also have their positives, as I said above. It's a question of weighing up the options and looking at what to do in future. We will discuss this, trust me

Warpath Tagline?
In the Grim Darkness of the future, there is only Disco.

Yeah they are gonna get sliced off.

Just got my shipping notification, its going to the wrong address....I'm sure it can get fixed before UPS receives it though.

If it's at the shipping notification stage, we can try to catch it but it might have already gone. However, if so, UPS will try to deliver to the old address, then if you're not there they'll email you and ask for an address update, then re-deliver. In any case, drop me a line at james.hewitt@manticgames.com and I'll see what I can do

Mine was picked up on Dec 3 at about noon, went to Birmingham, then Standstead on the 4th, was in Memphis at 6:30 this morning and arrived at a quarter to 11:00 today.

If FedEx is estimating two day shipping, they mean it. (Assuming you don't hit a storm delay or something.)

How hard is it to cut off the integrated bases? Is the material easy to work with? I plan on staging all of these on clear bases.

Especially if you want to preserve fiddly bits like toes and avoid stressing the plastic, don't forget to soften the plastic with hot water before you cut. I've successfully saved many Veer-myn toes this way.

Someone else on here recommended that first, but I can't remember whom, so all credit where it is due to the previous contributor.

I'd like to throw my vote towards ditching the integral bases in all Warpath/Deadzone related models.

Kings of War - Keep them, much easier to deal with rank & file dudes with them.

Also, looking forward to getting a shipping notice...

Excellent, because it appears that mine is following the same route yours is I have hope that it'll arrive tomorrow.

I am with Cy on this one, I didn't mind them on my Kings of War undead, but I don't think I'd be a fan of these for a skirmish-y game.

Honestly, the only Mantic game that I don't like the integral bases for are Dreadball minis... The integral bases look like crap in the clear hexes (no offense, James, other than that I love your company).

I'm hoping mine ships soon... I've been waiting since June for these minis!
