Only runs as long as stock lasts and sale ends 30 October. Should've mentioned that.
Glad you other folks have been able to cash in though. I'm super jealous

I'm tempted, but I still have my ginormous box and a half of stuff from the Kickstarter I haven't assembled yet.

We are moving warehouse locations and consolidating inventory. This site is currently served by a service provider, a satellite warehouse. In an effort to streamline fulfillment we will transfer all products to a central location.
Purchases made are limited to stock on hand, sorry no backorders.

Crap. It sounds like the WGF/Warlord merger is screwing over Dreamforge.

I'm not sure we'll get to see the Shadokesh at all now. Even if WGF still wants to do business on favorable terms, it will be difficult for him to find sculpting space and time after consolidating his stock and running his shipping service through his garage*.

Well we haven't heard anything directly from Dream forge in a while which is never a good sign. I hope your wrong the quality of these models are amazing and I was really looking forward to the Shadokesh.

That sounds a lot better. I wonder why it was not sold with such an upbeat take.

I tend more towards pessimism. We haven't heard much from DFG for a while, and when we have, it's been terse. Warlord also just announced a new plastic sci fi line...that would be direct competition for a product they would distribute. Combine that with a regular pattern of new product delays, big sales, and a general lack of positive tone, and it's easy to imagine bad news lurking in the shadows. His latest missive has the same vague tone I would expect from a Chiang Kai-Shek letter explaining why he needs to sell off most of his tanks so he can advance into Taiwan and consolidate his power most efficiently.

Hopefully Mark will come here to set the record straight.

In a van down by the river

I too hope we hear from Mark soon, because I absolutely love his work and I'm kicking myself for not snagging those APCs while they were available (even though I already have 5 from the KS *cough*). Going through such a logistical shift though is undoubtedly stressful on what is really a one-man operation, and hopefully it's the good stress of "this is a change that will ultimately make things better" and not "oh god I'm starting over" kind.

In other news, I saw the link to the review Mark posted at Bruckenkopf (German language site). Man, that APC looks nice as a Mantic Enforcer vehicle too. Referemced pic spoilered below:

Spoiler:

While it'd be awesome if Mantic would sell some of those on as GCPS APCs for a more solid revenue stream for DFG, I'm sure the scale and the relative engineering differences (Mantic's plastic designs are...simpler, after all) would preclude that from ever happening officially.

Runnin up on ya.

Mantic wouldn't use it because all of their vehicles have to look cartoonish and include a face or some sort.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Hmm. Wish I'd seen that pic of the Enforcer version of the APC while there was still a chance to buy one on sale. Although really it's a better fit for Dreamforge's own stormtroopers (not surprising, since it was designed for them); Mantic's enforcers are a tad tall for it (which the hunched poses by the small side door helps to disguise).

I picked up a box of riflemen, which will be my first stab at Dreamforge's stormtroopers. (Actually got it from Amazon, because they beat the sale price + shipping.) I don't intend to use them as designed - the German / Star Wars helmets are not for me. But with alternate heads, I think they look very promising.

I have to hope that Dreamforge are doing alright and will pull through whatever difficulties they are having, because I'm also dying to see some Shadokesh get made. For me, the Dreamforge line has been painfully "almost," and that's entirely down to the lead style of their first force. I'm just not into the idea of Space Germans, or power-armored Teutonic knights (in 40k either). I say "almost" because style aside, the production quality is excellent and the reviews have been highly positive. If this guy would just put out a force I was stylistically into - and the alien Shadokesh definitely fit that bill - I'd be all over it. If he'd released the Eisenkern as more standard sci-fi troopers, they probably would have looked more generic and possibly boring, but I also think that they would be the de facto standard for sci-fi miniature armies. Can't blame a guy for following his vision, though.

I'd go in on a kickstarter for the Shadokesh if he's hard up, even knowing how long it took for him to finish fulfilling the Eisenkern KS. That's how much I want those guys. Maybe he should include a year's salary for a part-time staff member to help him keep up with things?

Take this man and point his talent in a non-German, non-WWI/WWII-in-space direction, and I'm there.

I might be tempted to White Knight this if it wasn't so true.

I'll go further and say that the Dreamforge plastics are some of the best hobby models ever produced - right up there with GW. The quality is high, the fit is good and the detail is sharp. The range of options in the base troop sets and expansion kit puts EVERYONE else to shame - especially GW's efforts at chapter-specific sprues.

Hoping he's merely retrenching at the moment - I'd love to see Shadokesh too. My only mistake during the Kickstarter was not buying a LOT more.

All IMHO, of course

Yeah, it's pretty remarkable that the industry's best hard plastics ever came out of a kickstarter, of all places. I'm much more used to seeing projects fall short of expectations, in large or small measure. Personally I'm a big fan of Mantic's hard plastic troopers, but that's mostly down to their style; they are clearly a notch below GW standard, enough so that I notice, but not enough to kill my interest in them. But by all accounts, Mark ran a KS campaign and put out the best hard plastic kits ever, more than delivering on what was promised. And in the years since, what with Dreamforge's pioneering example, all the advances in technology, and better knowledge of the market / more savvy dealing with Chinese factories, Dreamforge's signature achievement has been matched by . . .

. . . absolutely no one else. Very, very impressive. So please, Dreamforge, stay viable long enough to put out those Shadokesh!

It takes a stupidly long time to make stuff. There's so many wheels and cogs involved even with plain ole metal figures. So hopefully he's just working hard on stuff like models and the rulebook in the background and you just can't see it yet

I'd certainly be in for a shadowkesh campaign, even if it was for metal or resin figures at first to get the ball rolling.

A lot of their stuff has already sold out - but I did manage to swing a 15mm Mortis, which is going to be used as a 28mm 'Gine in my steampunk RPG. ( 'Gine is short for Bullgine - a term that I borrowed form the song 'Clear the Track, Let the Bullgine Run'.)

I am working on a scenario with the PCs being part of the UK military force in a war vs. the Kasier, just after the Franco Prussian War... a war that never happened, because Von Bismark wasn't an idiot....

There was mention of an announcement 'soon' about Dreamforge in the most recent Northstar Miniatures Newsletter

now it might just be that they are becoming the official UK distributor (after the WGF deal with Warlord seemed to have messed up whatever went on before)

but since Northstar are the folk behind Frostgrave Nickstarters perhaps (fingers crossed) it might be something more

did they ever go up on the warlord site?

I know the deal was announced, but I thought it was going to be the new year before they had any stock in hand so I never looked

Any word on the game itself? That keeps disappearing as well. I'm hoping Mantic develops a race/army to use the dreamforge kits for, that would be spectacular

He's had a Black Friday sale, and is now stocking/distributing the some old wargame factory ww2 plastics recently so I don't think there's any reason to be worried (I may just be in denial tho)

Looks like their just looking for retailers/wholesellers at the moment.
