And it's a lot more than just the models.

Like the Dragon King expansion is $150, and the model is at least as big as Magnus, Arielle, and other such giant character models from GW in the similar price range, but also comes with:

The Tyrant human form of the Dragon King
2 People of the Dragon narrative sculptures
Dragon King armor kit to build 4 survivors with a ton of gear options
Prob close to 200 cards (both the Dragon King and Tyrant being monsters with their own decks)
Rulebook that includes an entire alternate campaign structures
Sheet of terrain tiles

Yes it is expensive, but generally speaking there's tons of content packed into everything - about the "worst" onebeing the Lonely Tree, but its game content was not part of the original pitch (model for the iconic Nightmare Tree) but got added in due to extra funding/time.

Not sure about Midnight, but for me it definitely has the *perception* of being expensive, whereas when I actually look at the numbers (and minis) they're not bad at all. Especially some of the xpacs: Nightmare ram xpac with 13 minis for $40, not counting game content? Nice!

The Core Game cost is probably the worst offender since I don't favor the armor sets, but 100 hours of gaming makes up for that.

So is Poots' handling of this campaign normal compared to the previous one? I'm wanting the game more and more, but his approach makes me question whether he can successfully handle $8 million.

Eh, by the numbers, last time he delivered all but one of the sets, and increased shipping charges. The set he did not fulfill, he refunded. I would back with confidence up until the last 3 or 4 stretch goals, but leave aside some shipping money. There's really no way to tell how long it will take to get to you though, but that's expected of kickstarters.

Key differences from the first KS are that the updated core game is already in its production cycle - not being manufactured yet but in all that proofing and pre-production set up; and that rather than trying to develop and deliver all the content on once, they are doing it in waves to keep it more manageable.

So I'd expect the core game/update packs to ship generally as projected, the Gambler's Chest and expansion waves have the higher likelihood of slipping, and the December 2020 date for the bonus stuff that ends up getting added is purely a CYA date and I'd not consider that as any kind of actual guide.

Seems like he has more money, less to do and the experience of the previous kickstarter to inform the way.

I'm unconcerned about delivery

The delivery will probably be pretty good, but the last KS definitely saw some QC issues-- the core was pretty damn solid, but some expansions just weren't as good as others, and a few had fairly significant errors.

Also: the first KS was originally planned with models being done in a PVC material similar to the bulk of Privateer Press plastics, and the decision (based on funding) to switch to HIPS accounted for a lot of the delay as they basically had to start and learn that process from scratch.

And I have a feeling the manufacturer vastly underestimated how long some of the kits would take to actually engineer which is another thing that likely will not be as severe with a huge number of toolings behind them. The project likely being a cash customer will in turn probably give it better choice of manufacturing slots as well, which is an understated advantage of the KS model for creators versus traditional methods.

In terms of delivery, I wouldn't be worried about the core game or any current expansions; I would expect any delays there to be more from external forces (e.g. - a boat sinks, customs strikes, the EU devolves into barbarism and piracy after Brexit, etc.). The only caveat there is I have a feeling the waves being shipped are going to be rather lengthy windows. There are already nearly 8,000 backers in the US alone, which is itself 160% of the entirety of the first campaign's count. While I had decent experiences with the fulfillment partner in the first go-around, the scale of that needs to be kept in mind, especially on anything that seems like it will be "loose" and shipped from the HQ instead of the warehouses.

As far as new things, even with the benefit of experience I find it usually takes 12-18 months for HIPS production from concept to practical models. I wouldn't really expect new expansions for 24 months, or late 2019 (which, coincidentally, is what it says on the campaign page). The Core box coming in Summer of 2017 (possibly winter with the magnitude of orders) and expansions probably the early part of 2018 (again, scale) will likely be pretty solid to tide you over until the new goodies come along.

That was the situation the last time around. Poots contracted with Wargames factory as they were still rebuilding from the ashes of the takeover. Poot's cash strong position allowed him to jump ahead of both the Dreamforge KS (which was partially funded by credit from WGF), Wyrd's Malifaux and some of their own WGF kits. Assuming he goes the same direction for the new plastic kits a couple million in cash could allow them to jump the line again.

Or just as if not more likely, they are already on line for the core game, and future waves are far enough out to be scheduled as needed.

So, I see this was added to the FAQ:

Will I be able to pledge for additional rewards after the campaign ends in your campaign manager?

We urge you to support our Kickstarter campaign, during it's duration, not afterwards. While we hope to accommodate everyones needs as best as we can, our current focus is the Kickstarter campaign and not post campaign details. Thanks in advance for understanding.

I think how thats worded pretty much confirms we will be getting the option to pay for extra stuff post campaign and they are well aware there are many people in the situation of wanting more than they can afford right now and are fine with us throwing money at them for it at a later date... they just want to make sure that the people that can afford it all now continue to pledge and get the campaign over 10 million or whatever. So yeah... no need to empty your bank accounts out in January guys lol.

I Was starting to get a little stressed, as its already gotten to where the things i want exceed my budget id set aside for this... and wasnt looking forward to having to decided what to drop and keep and with another 20 days to go with more reveals that would likely have only gotten worse.

I'm going to guess an OVER 9000 white lion. With its hair all saiyajin'ed out.

Or the Butcher, since he's an actual Nemesis and all, plus he's the first one you fight.

Did Adam clarify who shows up in the Black Knight expansion? It says 3 squires and 4 narrative sculpts, yet there's 2 squires I'm aware of and 5 different armor sets shown off.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

These answer two questions one was mine anyway.

The Super Survivor Promo, is a new promo and thus included in all pledge levels that include new promos.

and

I will do my best to accommodate everyones needs but thats after putting the overall logistics plan and ability to manage it above all else. To that end, I have decided to not divulge any information about the pledge manage until after the campaign. I feel that if people want to support the campaign, they should do so. Our direct to backer & bakcer pledge amounts are greatly discounted of the MSRP. I want to bring everyone as much as possible, but again, thats after balancing out actual costs and ensuring we have the room to comfortably deliver everything.

Thing is, the new expansions are individually the cost of an entire boardgame, on top of an already hefty base price of $200+ for the basic pledge levels. The number, price and content of the expansions were not advertised before the campaign. So people are scrambling to find $200-$1000 in disposable income over the course of the month the campaign is running. Not giving them an extra couple of months to find funds for a product that will take multiple years to fully deliver, when it has already funded beyond all expectations is...Bonkers. And not very nice, frankly. But he can clearly get away with it.

Still only a couple of expansions I'm really interested in. And honestly, the rules in the Gambler's Chest are sounding less and less impressive. I don't really need or want lots of new combination armor sets that come with really powerful abilities to make the showdowns easier.

tamburlaine, yeah, I noticed that, too, re: BK. Either there are different ranks of squires (perhaps where the "baron" role comes in), or he forgot his numbers, since they clearly do keep editing things and have shown a history of non-updated edits.

Bioptic, yeah... it's pretty clear he's very heavily favoring the IMHO pretty nuts "sweet spot" pledges of $800~1000 and ~$1700.. which is even more nuts IMHO where the previous sweet spots were $150 and $300.

I guess those numbers are a bit different if you include the gambler's lantern, but, man, I still can't tell what that is. Will probably hold on to mine, but, it seems like it's mostly just some fighting arts, a handful of events, and one campaign variant for different survivors? Seems like 2 monster expansions would end up a better use of cash if you're looking for content.

I think the hybrid armour sets are going to be a boon for people who get bored of hunting that lion/antelope/etc again and again trying to grind out a complete armour set for the bonuses

(assuming all the bonuses are similar in value to the existing full sets)

Has their been any word on if we'll see armor kits during the campaign?

Has Adam said one way or the other?

As usual, I like the armor a lot, characters are, eh, okay. Also, apparently they can't do unarmored masculine legs? Feels like all of them have really feminine proportions- wide hips, more curves, etc.

Per Adam all of the Red Witches are women, and the buff one didn't listen to the story that would have made her look more like the others. He didn't say whether they all started as women.
